How to get from Domodedovo airport to Moscow City Centre
For foreigners getting from Moscow airports to their preferred accommodation might be tricky. This video offers tips and tricks on how to get the best rates and make your arrival as comfortable as possible.
If you happen to arrive in Russia at Domodedovo Airport, there are a couple of things you should know. If a local needs to get a taxi they use services such as Gett, Yandex Taxi and Uber. However, if a foreigner tried that he would end up with a massive bill from their phone provider.
Another option is this “Taxi Stand” if you pay by cash you will be charged 3000 Rubles, which is almost 3 times the actual price. The most practical way for foreigners to get a cab is to approach the Gett stand. It only costs 1100 Rubles if you order it through the app.
The fastest and cheapest way of getting to Moscow is an Aeroexpress. The trains arrive in Moscow Paveletskaya railway station and depart every 30 minutes. You can pay for your ticket by card or even using Apple Pay.
Moscow's taxis to get a brand new look!
Moscow's Duma has approved amendments to the new law on taxis.
Starting September the first, anyone acting as a gypsy cab can be fined up to 5-thousand roubles.
The new federal law on taxis earlier sparked protests across the country.
Small cab firms say it gives an unfair advantage to larger operators.

Driverless taxi unveiled in Moscow
(18 Aug 2017) LEADIN
A driverless bus, designed to be used as a taxi, has been unveiled in Moscow.
A technology park was specially adapted to create roads on which to test the vehicle.
STORYLINE
On a Moscow road, this yellow and black taxi moves swiftly forward, but look closer and you'll see there are no front windows.
This is 'Matreshka' (which means 'Russian doll'), a Russian-made driverless electric bus, which uses cameras to recognise objects and follow a route.
It knows the route and it matches with what is sees in front of itself. Just as a real person draws a picture in his head and when he sees the road, imaginatively finishes the route and goes down the road, explains project engineer, Daniil Lisutkin.
The prototype was presented in Moscow and can travel at a speed up of 30 kilometres per hour. However at the presentation the speed was limited to 10 kilometres per hour for safety reasons.
Its batteries allow it to travel up to 100 kilometres on one charge.
The bus needs 9 hours to be fully charged through a standard 220v socket and 4 hours using a charging station.
The cameras installed around the bus replicate biometric eyesight, which allows it to recognise objects on the road and calculate the distances between them.
Cameras are connected to a computer and using a neural eyesight it analyses the images it got from the cameras. And the bus understands where it is located and what it sees in front of itself, adds Lisutkin.
The bus was developed by Russian bus company 'Volgabus' and the 'Bakulin Motors Group'. Although it's being called a bus it's designed to be used as a taxi.
But there will be versions of the bus to transport cargo and others which can transport up to 12 people like a city bus.
Such buses won't be allowed on public roads until 2020 - so for now they can only be used in closed environments such as airports, technology parks and campuses.
Today, the driverless bus is being showcased in a technology park called 'Kalibr' which was opened on the grounds of a former Soviet factory.
The government has converted a large space in the park to replicate public roads. It has bus stops, crossing and roundabouts as well as road signs.
The technology park created this road for our testing. Here it is all possible: road marking, bus stops, stop lines and roundabouts. We can use it around the clock in any conditions. In summer, in winter, during the day and night, explains the Head of the 'Matreshka' project, Anton Poppel.
The bus is planned to be put into manufacture in 2018.

RUSSIA: MOSCOW TO ORDER A FLEET OF LONDON TAXICABS
Russian/Nat
XFA
London's famous black taxis are recognised the world over as a symbol of Britain's capital.
But their popularity has stretched far beyond the United Kingdom.
Moscow is about to order the world's largest fleet of London taxicabs outside Britain.
The first seventy black cabs are being prepared for operation on Moscow's busy streets at the capital's Taxi Depot number 18.
Moscow is a city famous for many things, but up to now its taxis have not been one of them.
But that may be about to change.
London's black taxis are about to make their debut on the city's streets after officials placed an order for seventy of the vehicles with their British manufacturer.
The deal is part of Mayor Yuri Luzhkov's ambitious plan to turn the city into the world's second black cab capital.
It took several years to clinch the contract but the details have now been hammered out and the first batch of the cabs, which cost around 38-thousand US dollars is about to hit the streets.
The authorities hope the cabs will signal an end to the city's 'black market' in passenger transport in which every motorist is a potential cabbie.
The deputy director of Taxi Depot 18, one o the city's oldest, says that a organised market of transport will help to fight unlicensed taxis.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
For a taxi service to operate well, it is necessary to set up a civilized market of passenger transportation in the city. Unlicensed taxies should be taken off the streets. We hope the taxicabs will help us financially and raise the prestige of our depot.
SUPER CAPTION: Sergei Ignatiev, deputy director, Taxi Depot No. 18
Ignatiev says the fare will be 14 roubles per kilometre, roughly twice the regular rate, but he hopes rich Russians and foreigners would love the opportunity to ride in a London cab in Moscow.
The cabs are larger and more comfortable than the Volgas and other Russian-made cars that ply their trade on Moscow's streets at present.
Not only that but the cabs are famed for their easy handling and manoeuvrability, something which the drivers have been quick to praise.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
The car is very easy to drive, it has a power steering wheel. It is very fast, and all the controls are located at hand. A very convenient vehicle, from a driver's point of view.
SUPER CAPTION: Andrei Orlov, driver
The management of Taxi Depot No. 18 want their black cabs to be on duty at major airports and hotels, offering an alternative to yellow cabs and private individuals pestering visitors to Moscow.

The opening ceremony of the largest international air terminal in Europe was held at Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Tuesday.

The first ground level houses the arrivals lounge and the second level, the departures lounge. A business class lounge is located on the third level.
The terminal has 52 exit gates.

Landing in autumn Domodedovo (UUDD), Moscow, Russia. / Посадка в оcеннем Домодедово.
The video shows approach, landing and taxi of a heavy business jet Challenger 604 on runway 14R of Moscow Domodedovo Airport or Domodedovo International Airport (IATA: DME, ICAO: UUDD). It is an international airport located on the territory of Domodedovo, Moscow Oblast, Russia, 42 kilometres (26 mi) south-southeast from the centre of Moscow. Domodedovo is the largest airport in Russia in terms of passenger and cargo traffic (22.25 million passengers used the airport in 2010, which is a 19.2% increase from 2009), and is one of the three major Moscow airports along with Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo.
In 2003, the airport began an expansion program designed to obtain approval for wide-body aircraft operations. The runway, taxiways, and parking areas were enlarged and strengthened. In March 2009, it was announced that the approval had been granted, making Domodedovo Airport the first in Russia approved for new large aircraft (NLA) operations such as the Airbus A380. The approval signifies that its operations areas comply with size and strength requirements of ICAO Category F standards. The airport has ILS category III A status.
ATC vectoring for IFR approach carried out by day at the perfect VFR light windy conditions. Taxiing ends on the VIP parking spot of the business terminal. The video was filmed by GoPro 3 camera.
