Arresojas - Knives Montevecchio (Guspini) 2011 biennale del coltello artigianale in Sardegna
The handicraft of knife in Sardinia has a long tradition and is still well rooted. Inevitable companion of shepherds, hunters and farmers, all-round tool for use, by various shapes according to which it is primarily intended, has long been the subject field also for discerning collectors.
From stone to steel more sophisticated through obsidian, bronze and alloys of various kinds, the art of its construction, passion very common in Sardinia, has been handed down without interruption and is not second to any other creative activity. Requires years of practice and study to reach the perfection of forms and materials that not everyone can boast of having achieved.
The biennial Sardinian knife Arresojas, which takes place in Montevecchio, almost uninhabited mining hamlet near countries with high vocation in the processing of knives such Guspini, Gonnosfanadiga and Arbus, stands as a reference point and moment of confrontation between the artists and craftsmen, but also as a showcase and teaching a popular art increasingly appreciated.
It is not limited to the Sardinian knife but ranges throughout the world horizon of the blades, often with international guests and exhibitions focusing on the forge cultures of all nationalities. His is a global success and each year found presences from all over the world, also favored by beautiful natural scenery (mountains and sea) and industrial archaeological (the old mines restructured) that host.The video is just a small quick peek of what you can see in the exhibition, not just a whole day to turn in all exhibitions of contemporary and historical knives, workshops, extemporary, street artists and visits to local industrial and civil (not miss a visit to the house of the director) of the old mine, and certainly can not make sense of engagement and satisfaction that it takes to see it for yourself. Small (?) gem the knife Arburesa Guinness Book of Records wich appeare at the end of the video.

SUMMARY
=======
The giudicati (Italian; judicati in Latin; judicadus, logus or rennus in Sardinian), in English referred to as Sardinian Judgedoms or Judicatures, were independent states that took power in Sardinia in the Middle Ages, between the ninth and fifteenth centuries. They were sovereign states with summa potestas, each with a ruler called judge (judike in Sardinian).
