USA: PRESIDENT CLINTON VISITS TO SEE DAMAGE CAUSED BY TORNADOES
English/Nat
U-S President Bill Clinton has been visiting his home state to see for himself the damage caused by tornadoes at the weekend.
Clinton viewed the damage first from his helicopter, Marine One, and then walked through the streets of Little Rock and Arkadelphia.
His last stop was College Station, a poor suburb of Little Rock.
At least 25 people died when the tornadoes hit the state on Saturday.
The president commiserated in the Little Rock suburb of College Station, almost totally demolished by Saturday's Arkansas tornadoes.
It was his last stop before returning to Washington.
As President Clinton walked through the twisted metal and shattered glass in the suburb, he talked to residents and business people affected by the tornadoes.
He said nothing had ever affected him like the sight of tornado damage in his home state.
He had arrived earlier, Tuesday, in Little Rock, Arkansas on a solidarity mission.
Clinton, dressed in jeans, was greeted by applause from state dignitaries gathered nearby.
President Clinton flew by helicopter over Arkansas fields, farms and communities littered by debris and toppled trees.
His second stop was Arkadelphia, a town of 10-thousand people, about 50 miles (80 km) south-west of Little Rock.
Arkadelphia was hit by winds blowing at around 200 miles-per-hour (320 kilometres-per- hour).
The president had words of sympathy for everyone, and assured the American government will help as much as possible in the reconstruction.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
When disaster strikes anywhere in America, the Unites States' government will do its part and will be there promptly and will stay for the long home and will be concerned and will be able to deal with problems that may look smaller than Washington's are but are as big as anything in life to people who face them when a disaster strikes.
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, President of the United States
Clinton predicted the city would be fully restored within two years.
During his tour of the town, President Clinton also extended federal emergency relief to other states hit by damaging floods in the past few days.

Radian over Cabot, AR on a windy November day in 720p
This was the first test of a camera with 720p HD mounted on the back of a PZ Radian sailplane. The flight took place near a construction site on the backside of Cabot Junior High North in Cabot, AR. The flight was shortened and a safe landing was made earlier than expected due to high winds encountered at altitude.

Peter Wolf Toth Trail of the Whispering Giants
Peter Toth created 74 Whispering Giants all are in all 50 states 1 in Canada, and even one in Hungary. Interesting fact is that they all resemble natives of the region that they are located in. The basic tools he used to create these were a hammer and chisel...and on occasion he used a mallet and an axe. He rarely ever used power tools to create these beautiful pieces of art. I hope everyone will be able to find them and let me know more about them with either photos or through a video.

SUMMARY
=======
Arkansas ( AR-kən-saw) is a state in the southern region of the United States, home to over 3 million people as of 2017. Its name is of Siouan derivation from the language of the Osage denoting their related kin, the Quapaw Indians. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta.
Arkansas is the 29th largest by area and the 33rd most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central portion of the state, a hub for transportation, business, culture, and government. The northwestern corner of the state, such as the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Area and Fort Smith metropolitan area, is a population, education, and economic center. The largest city in the state's eastern part is Jonesboro. The largest city in the state's southeastern part is Pine Bluff.
The Territory of Arkansas was admitted to the Union as the 25th state on June 15, 1836. In 1861, Arkansas withdrew from the United States and joined the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. On returning to the Union in 1868, the state continued to suffer due to its earlier reliance on slavery and the plantation economy, causing the state to fall behind economically and socially. White rural interests continued to dominate the state's politics until the civil rights movement. Arkansas began to diversify its economy following World War II and relies on its service industry, aircraft, poultry, steel, tourism, cotton, and rice.
The culture of Arkansas is observable in museums, theaters, novels, television shows, restaurants, and athletic venues across the state. Arkansas's enduring image has earned the state a special place in the American consciousness. People such as politician and educational advocate William Fulbright; former President Bill Clinton who served as the 40th and 42nd Governor of Arkansas; his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; former NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark, Walmart magnate Sam Walton; singer-songwriters Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell; the poet C. D. Wright; and physicist William L. McMillan, who was a pioneer in superconductor research; have all lived in Arkansas.

Video of White Oak Lake State Park, AR from 2SHOE S.
2SHOE S.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Lovely park; I skipped the best part!
We had a great weekend at White Oak Lake, enjoying having the tents-only loop to ourselves, fishing (some basic tackle is available in the Visitor Center), meeting friendly people on the playground, being around lake scenery and wildlife. However, due to rain and our travel schedule we left without going to the nearby Little Grand Canyon, and I kick myself for it every time I think of it. Google Arkansas Little Grand Canyon at White Oak Lake to see this amazing rock formation. I would love to go back.
