The 106th Rescue Wing, New York Air National Guard.
Welcome to the 106th Rescue Wing of the New York Air National Guard, located at Francis S.Gabreski ANGB in Westhampton Beach, New York. The 106th RQW is one of only three rescue units in the Air National Guard and also the home of the ANG's oldest flying unit, the 102nd Rescue Squadron. Today, the mission of the 106th is to provide combat search and rescue (CSAR). In peacetime, the wing performs search and rescue on behalf of the State of New York and the Federal Government. The 106th RQW performs long range over-water missions using the aerial refueling capabilities of the HC-130s and the wing's newest helicopter, the Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk.
On June 14, 1975 the 106th was redesignated an Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Group and assigned to Military Airlift Command. Its primary mission became one of saving lives and the mission change would have far reaching effects and a profound impact on the unit itself, Long island and the northeastern part of the United States. On October 1, 1989, the 106th was redesignated an Air Rescue Group. In the Fall of 1990, the 106th ARG turned in its well-worn HH-3s in exchange for brand new Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawks. In 1993, the 106th Rescue Group was redesignated the 106th Rescue Wing, its current designation. In 2000, the 102nd Rescue Squadron, the wing's flying element, celebrated its 85th anniversary. The 102nd is the oldest flying unit in the Air National Guard and one of the oldest in the Air Force.

129th Rescue Wing Save 1,012
MOFFETT FEDERAL AIRFIELD, Calif. - California Air National Guardsmen from the 129th Rescue Wing (RQW) completed an overwater rescue mission on the Pacific Ocean today, saving the life of a seriously ill 48-year-old male on board the Union Trader, a Greek shipping vessel. The rescue marks the unit's second overwater save in the past week and their 1,012th life saved since 1977.
Today's successful rescue, just on the heels of last week's rescue, clearly demonstrates the always-ready posture of the women and men of the 129th Rescue Wing, said Wing Commander Col. Gregory F. Jones. I could not be more proud of the dedication of the members of the 129th Rescue Wing who put their talents on display every day on behalf of those in need across California and beyond.”
The Union Trader was approximately 550 nautical miles west of San Francisco when the U.S. Coast Guard requested Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) assistance. The 129th RQW accepted the mission due to the time-critical nature of the event and the distance of the vessel from shore.
In coordination with the AFRCC and Coast Guard, the 129th RQW launched two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, an MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft, and a Guardian Angel Pararescue team from Moffett Federal Airfield around 7 a.m. en route to the Union Trader. Active duty Air Force personnel later joined the effort when HC-130J aircraft from the 79th Rescue Squadron launched from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, near Tucson, Arizona, providing additional air refueling capacity.
Once the Pararescue personnel boarded the vessel, they ensured the patient was stable before hoisting him onto the Pave Hawk helicopter that departed for Moffett Federal Airfield. En route, the Guardian Angel team provided medical care for the Greek crewman inside the helicopter. An ambulance met the crewman at Moffett Federal Airfield and transported him to a local hospital.
The 129th Rescue Wing is credited with saving the lives of more than 1,000 people. From arid deserts and snow-covered mountain tops to urban and rural settings, 129th Rescue Wing Air Guardsmen can reach any destination by land, air or sea. Equipped with MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft, HH-60G Pave Hawk rescue helicopters and Guardian Angel teams (Pararescuemen and Combat Rescue Officers), the 129th Rescue Wing conducts combat search and rescue missions, as well as the rescue of distressed persons on board ships, lost or injured hikers, and medical evacuations across the West Coast.

Since I was 3 years old it has been my life long dream to see the LA Lakers play live. With LeBron moving to LA over the 2018 summer, I thought what better opportunity will I ever have to see my favourite team and the GOAT play live.
I managed to see three games, the first in LA with my sister, which was Grizzlies@LAL (107-99 L), the second in San Francisco, which was LAL@GSW (127-101 W), and the third back in LA with my childhood friend and high school basketball teammate Kiran, which was Thunder@LAL (107-100 L). Was extremely happy to see some of the greats play, such as, LeBron, Steph, KD, Westbrook (favourite player), PG13 and more
Overall, it was the highlight of my entire holiday and was a truly memorable experience that I would recommend to everyone. I hope you enjoy watching my vlog of the three games as I followed the Lakers around California.

California Turkey Vulture - Cathartes aura
The turkey vulture (Cathartes aura), also known in some North American regions as the turkey buzzard (or just buzzard), and in some areas of the Caribbean as the John crow or carrion crow, is a vulture that is the most widespread of the New World vultures. One of three species in the genus Cathartes of the family Cathartidae, the turkey vulture ranges from southern Canada to the southernmost tip of South America. It inhabits a variety of open and semi-open areas, including subtropical forests, shrub lands, pastures, and deserts.
Like all New World vultures, it is not closely related to the Old World vultures of Europe, Africa, and Asia. The two groups strongly resemble each other because of convergent evolution; natural selection often leads to similar body plans in animals that adapt independently to the same conditions.
The turkey vulture is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. It finds its food using its keen eyes and sense of smell, flying low enough to detect the gases produced by the beginnings of the process of decay in dead animals] In flight, it uses thermals to move through the air, flapping its wings infrequently. It roosts in large community groups. Lacking a syrinx—the vocal organ of birds—its only vocalizations are grunts or low hisses. It nests in caves, hollow trees, or thickets. Each year it generally raises two chicks, which it feeds by regurgitation. It has very few natural predators. In the United States, the vulture receives legal protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918

The Kelly Slater Wave Company Surf Ranch, also known as Slater's wave, is a 20-acre surfing amusement park in Lemoore, California, amid the farmland of the state's Central Valley. It's not the first man-made wave park, but it's the most powerful: The wave reaches speeds of 20 mph and heights of 8 feet, making it a capable host for competitions like the World Surf League Championship Tour. In time, controlled environments like Slater’s wave may become the norm for surfing competitions.

This company report from Aerojet General Corporation shows it in its prime as a defense and industrial contractor that also supported the U.S. space program. The Azusa plant where the company started is shown, along with the Nerva Nuclear Rocket Engine program, and various aspects of the company's production from ablative coatings to astrionics, oceanics and torpedo divisions, an anti-cavitation device known as a Hydrocket, the Ordnance Division in Downey that developed the Nike-Hercules ground to air missile and Thor Able system, the Chino Hills Facility with its special testing laboratories for metallurgic examination and creation of new alloys, and more. The aeronautic division is shown at 20 minutes developing the SD-2 multipurpose surveillance drone for the Army. (The Aerojet SD-2 Overseer was an unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Aerojet General in the late 1950s for use by the United States Army. Built in limited numbers, it never saw operational service.) At the 21 minute mark, Polaris Rocket motors are built as well as Minuteman motors and Hawk missile motors are shown being assembled. Parcel sorters and materials handling equipment are also shown at the 22 minute mark, in use with the Postal Service. Rocket test stands including the Saturn V rest stands are shown. The first test stand for nuclear rocket engines is also shown in model form, at the 23 minute mark. Aerojet's plants in Sacramento, the largest rocket engine facilities in the world, are shown at the 23 minute mark as well. Both the Titan I and Titan II engines are shown being flight tested at 24 minutes, and a full scale Titan I launch is shown at 25 minutes.
The Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application (NERVA) was a U.S. nuclear thermal rocket engine development program that ran for roughly two decades. NERVA was a joint effort of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and NASA, managed by the Space Nuclear Propulsion Office (SNPO) until both the program and the office ended at the end of 1972.
Aerojet developed from a 1936 meeting hosted by Theodore von Kármán at his home. Joining von Kármán, who was at the time director of Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, were a number of Caltech professors and students, including rocket scientist and astrophysicist Fritz Zwicky and explosives expert Jack Parsons, all of whom were interested in the topic of spaceflight.
On March 19, 1942, the company was officially formed in Azusa, CA, known as Aerojet Engineering Corporation. The founders were Frank Malina, von Kármán, Parsons, Edward S. Forman, Martin Summerfield, and Andrew Haley. In 1943 the Army Air Forces finally placed a full order, demanding that 2000 be delivered before year's end. The company also invested in pure rocket research, developing both a liquid-fueled design and a new solid-fueled design based on a rubber binding agent in partnership with General Tire. In the immediate post-war era, Aerojet downsized dramatically, but their JATO units continued to sell for commercial aircraft operating in hot-and-high conditions.
Aerobee was the first US-designed rocket to reach space (albeit not orbit) and completed over 1,000 flights before it was retired in 1985. Aerojet designed and built a total of 1,182 engines for all four incarnations of the Titan rockets, which were used for civilian projects ranging from Gemini's manned flights to solar system explorations including Viking, Voyager, and Cassini. The newly formed US Air Force used Aerojet as the primary supplier on a number of their ICBM projects, including the Titan and Minuteman missiles. They also delivered propulsion systems for the US Navy's submarine-launched Polaris missile. A new plant was set up in Sacramento that took over most rocket construction, while the original Azusa offices returned primarily to research. One of Azusa's major projects was the development of the infra-red detectors for the Defense Support Program satellites, used to detect ICBM launches from space.

December 7,1994 Mojave Airport California WW2 T-6 Planes
I use to work at Mojave airport and every December 7 before 9/11/2001 these T-6's out of Van Nuys would fly up in formation wing tip to wing tip and arrive at Mojave Airport at 7:50 am which is the same time that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. After they arrived they broke up in pairs of 3 & 4 and got like 4 passes each throwing flour bombs at a red round target that said 1941. I love hearing the sound of the old radial engines on these planes. My good friend Rich Souza took these videos of the planes. I wonder where are you today Rich ? After each plane took there flour bomb shots they would group up and make one final pass above then they would leave and fly back to Van Nuys where they are based at. After 911 they stopped doing this. Most of the pilots were from WW2 who still enjoyed flying the old war birds.
