Capri Tour - What to see on a 1 day trip
Capri - What we saw on our day trip from Sorrento! Stunning views & more.
My video of what to see in Sorrento is here:
My video of what to see in Positano is here (3m10s):
You can also see my Pompeii tour video here (9m06s):
And you can see my Herculaneum tour video here (7m56s):
Here's the Capri video narrative:
Capri is a small Italian island in the Bay of Naples, about 5 kilometers from the mainland.
We visited on a day trip in April, arriving via a fast jet ferry from Sorrento and avoiding the peak summer season, when the island can be overrun with tourists.
Capri is also easy to reach by ferry from Naples.
We arrived at Capri’s main port, Marina Grande, which is on the north coast.
From here you can take boat trips, for example to the Blue Grotto, which is a flooded sea-cave, or you can take a boat to the south coast to see the Faraglioni Rocks.
However, with limited time we decided to make for Capri town, then on to to Anacapri and Monte Solaro.
To get from Marina Grande up to Capri town we took the funicular railway which connects the harbour to the Piazzetta, the town’s main square.
Capri’s two main centres, Capri town and its uphill rival Anacapri, are almost entirely given over to tourism and prices can be high.
Capri is a world-famous beauty spot and it’s also a summer favourite of holidaying VIPs.
The Piazzetta is full of fashionable bars and it’s well worth stopping for an espresso. You might even see one of those VIPs!
The square is dominated by a free-standing clock tower.
Note the tiled clock face.
Capri is well known for its maiolica tiles.
Here they can be seen forming a map of the island.
We boarded a crowded bus to Anacapri and explored the island’s second town.
Walking along Via Giuseppe Orlandi, we saw the Casa Rossa, a brightly coloured house built in the late 1800s by an American colonel. It’s now a museum.
Continuing along this road, we reached Piazza San Nicola and the Church of San Michele, built in Italian baroque style at the turn of the 18th century.
Built on an octagonal Greek cross plan, the church is famous for its maiolica floor decoration depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve. It was completed in 1761.
For an impressive view of the entire floor, you can climb the spiral staircase to the organ loft and look out over the church from above.
More maiolica tiles can be seen nearby, decorating the benches in Piazza Armando Diaz.
The Monte Solaro chairlift is also in Anacapri, and it reaches the top of the 589 meters high mountain within minutes.
From the summit there are picturesque views over the island and across the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.
There’s also a great view of the Faraglioni Rocks from here.
These three spurs of rock rise from the sea within meters of the coast and are one of the favourite destinations for boat tours of the island’s coast.
We hiked down from the summit back to Anacapri. The path is quite uneven in places but the walk is well worth it for the changing panoramas.
On the way down, you can see a series of small bronze plaques. Each represents a stop on the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross.
We headed back to Marina Grande and caught the last ferry back to Sorrento, which left late afternoon.
You can see plenty of this beautiful island in a few hours, but don’t expect to fit everything in.
Next time, maybe we’ll get to the Blue Grotto!

Male 1: Welcome to Capri. I love Capri because I can still see the same beauty that has been here for literally millions of years. When I have clients, I get to relive the wonderment of seeing Capri for the first time.
Male 2: I looked at the public transportation here and the impression that I got was that it is very crowded at times. Having a private bus here made a lot of difference, and that is one of the best parts of the tour.
Male 1: I love this tour because it shows you both towns, Capri and Anacapri, and you get a little free time to look at the shops and a few of the sites. On the left, we have the patron saint of our town of Anacapri, Saint Anthony, San Antonio de Padua. Also, you have an opportunity to taste the wonderful limoncello and smell the beautiful Carthusia perfume, which are both local products of the island. The limoncello, it's made out of local lemons, the femminello lemon, which gives us three crops a year. Cheers everybody. Let's have a look at how the perfume is produced. What I love about this tour is that you have the option of going by boat to visit the world famous Blue Grotto.
Female: I learned a tremendous amount, and I'll be able to take that home with me and remember it and cherish it forever.
Male 2: I don't think there's any other rating to be given there, definitely a five, yeah.

A day trip from Naples to Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi Coast
Hi guys!
As a part of our Italy Holiday this summer, we stayed in Naples then travelled to Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi Coast as a combined day trip with our tour guide. As we had very limited time to stay in each place, we have captured the places where we visited during this trip. I hope you would enjoy watching this video and apologies for not getting high definition mode videos yet as I am still a newbie and working on my videography LOLS.
Thank you for stopping by and watching my another travel video.

Rione Terra - Pozzuoli Italy (Province of Naples, Campania)
This is the underground city of Pozzuoli, Italy. Pozzuoli, just outside of Naples, is one of the most ancient towns in Italy, originally settled by the Greeks prior to the rise of Rome. Originally named Puteoli, the name it is referred to as on old maps and in the book of Acts, the people of Pozzuoli are to this day called Puteolani. Though the subterranean area in this video is of Roman origin, many Greek ruins still exist, and are still being unearthed, among which is the Grotta de la Sybilla, who during her day, was the most famous Sybil in the ancient world.
This video was taken during my last trip there in 2010 to visit family. The areas we toured were still closed to the public due to damage from earthquakes which occurred over 30 years ago, damage which they had finally begun repairing just a few years before my visit.
As I had never even been to the the oldest part of Pozzuoli, locally known as Rione Terra, I was anxious to see it if possible. One of my nieces knew a guy who knew a guy who set up the private visit and tour for us. She along with her son are the ones in the video, apart from the gentleman who was acting as our guide.
I wish I had this translated for you, but until now I've never felt the need to do so. Perhaps in the future.
For anyone interested, this was taken with a Sony a55 with the Sony 18-50mm lens.

CAPRI, ITALY BOAT TOUR-Featuring The Blue Grotto!
The island of Capri, Italy is a short 30 minute ferry ride from Sorrento. It's one of the most beautiful and famous islands in the world due to it's stunning topography-cliffs that fall into turquoise waters, its many grottoes (caves), its marinas filled with yachts, and of course, the famous Blue Grotto. It's also a great place to people watch and take in the spectacular views. We took a boat ride around the island and my favorites were the Green Grotto (7:56) and the Blue Grotto (9:14)!
