You Need to Visit Canggu. Best Town in Bali. Street Art Tour (Where to stay in Bali)
We’ve found one of our favourite places on the planet (to date)! Canggu is on the Southwest coast of Bali, and is known as a digital nomad haven full of coffee shops and bars.
We spent the day exploring Canggu trying to find the best things to do in the town.

After showing off the rental we made our way into town passing by some beautiful homes on the way.
First we head to one of the more famous coffee shops in the area called Crate Cafe. Here you’ll find healthy food, and lots of coffee at a really affordable price, they also have a fair bit of artwork around.
We’d worked up an appetite at this point so we headed to a Vietnamese restaurant called Leroy’s to get some Banh Mi sandwiches.
After this we made our way through town trying to find street art. Canggu as well known for having lots of graffiti and street art around and we found an abundance.
Lastly we headed down to the beach (Batu Bolong Beach) to check it out for the first time. There are lots of beach clubs around but we just walked along the beach area to check out the surfers.

ABOUT CANGGU
Canggu is a coastal village and 10 km beach on the south coast of Bali, Indonesia. It lies approximately 10 kilometers north of Kuta, and presents a much more relaxing atmosphere of dining, cultural and beach activities. The main Canggu streets are Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Padang Linjong, Jalan Batu Mejan and Jalan Tanah Barak. Along Jalan Batu Bolong you find the temple of the dead, Pura Merajapati, and the Pipitan Cemetery. Along the beach there are two main temples, Pura Batu Bolong and Pura Batu Mejan, which are both hundreds of years old and were initiated for building by Dang Hyang Nirartha. The Canggu area used to have scenic views of paddy fields and coconut groves but current rapid developments are quickly replacing these traditional views with private villas.

CANGGU BEACH CLEAN UP WITH OCEAN MIMIC
How dirty are Bali beaches? Turns out the rainy season brings with it a tsunami of trash from the rivers and the ocean bu thankfully social startup Ocean Mimic is fighting the trash and doing weekly beach cleanups in Canggu.
Indonesia is the SECOND largest contributor to plastic pollution in the world and plastic bottles and bags can be found in all the rivers, roadside ditches and along the beautiful beaches.
There are, luckily, lots of great groups and organisations in Bali trying to clean up the beaches and to encourage people to cut down on plastic waste and single use plastic.
Education is so important here as half the population of Indonesia don't have access to proper waste disposal systems.
Canggu Beach Scene - 14 October 2018
The waves were small and the onshore breeze was already starting to blow by the time I arrived at Canggu. But it was a sunny Sunday morning and the beach was packed with surfers and sunbathers.
Craig Anderson made a brief appearance but even he couldn't really connect with any decent ones. Not to worry, there's always plenty happening on the sand, so more beach scenes than usual for this video.

What equipment do you use?
I have a Canon 700D, a Canon Powershot S120 and a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. I edit on my Acer 8GB RAM laptop.
How did you learn to edit?
Mainly I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. Eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing?
Right now I am running my video blog while doing freelance web design to supplement my travelling.
How do you meet the people in your videos?
Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people.

PARTYING WITH RUSSIAN GIRLS IN BALI - FINNS BEACH CANGGU
During our stay in Canggu we shared our Villa with 2 russian girls and two german girls. Partying in Bali is a lot of fun partying with russian girls evidently even more so. What is a Bali Beach Club? Top 4 in Seminyak
Guys,
We didn't even know what a Bali beach club was until we got to Indonesia. You, however, are probably looking for the best beach club. I literally pictured a pool and a bunch of day beds, meaning people taking naps. So of course we had to tour around Seminyak and see the the 4 top beach clubs in Bali (there are some in other areas, but Seminyak is the resort town where they are most popular).
So here it is:
Potato Head - super cool, laid back vibes here, but it's not as big as some, so the beds get taken up rather quickly, you'll want to arrive early if you want one. The pizza upstairs is awesome.
Finns - very Miami kind of vibe here, definitely more upscale and ritzy, but we didn't think it had that Bali beach club vibe that we expected. Beds were expensive, so were the drinks, but it had the nicest design and architecture by far, plus it's pretty big. Still, kind of pretentious in our minds...this is Bali after all.
Mrs. Sippy - our favorite because it's cheap and there is a high dive platform, so we just had some drinks and did flips and stuff. Honestly we can't stand laying around, so this place is our #1
Ku De Ta - you just have to go to catch a sunset here. The day beds are free, which is rare for a beach club, so jump in and grab one (they are first come first serve) before the sunset begins. You'll need a reservation if you want to eat at the restaurant though!
You might think the beach clubs are kind of gimmicky, but they aren't - they're totally worth a day if you have the time in your schedule.

Join me for a full day at one of Bali's top beaches, Echo Beach in the Canggu area, which is north from Kuta, and west from Denpasar.
The forecast was for 6-9ft swell, and while it didnt quite get there, there were still stacks of fun waves and great rides on offer.
This is also a mile stone video for me, as its the first I've published using video shot from a DSLR camera, my Sony a 6500, with 70-210mm zoom lens, I'm full frothing on this! Haha
I managed to sneak in a few waves myself at lunch on the high tide, after 6 months of rehab, my knee is finally starting to come good, so expect to see more surf vids in the near future :)

MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT: KUTA BEACH in Bali, Indonesia // 184
My first beach experience in the famed Bali has disappointed hugely. From what I hear, most other beaches in Bali are better than Kuta Beach. I sure hope so because the water pollution on Kuta Beach is literally nauseating.
Bali, Indonesia is a place most have heard of and it makes you think of luxurious exotic beaches and gorgeous green rice paddies. I'm thankful my stay in Indonesia can extend to 4 weeks so I can find what millions of visitors love about this place.

Catch Of The Day - Canggu, 23 January 2020
You'll often see a local fisherman or two casting a line in the shore-break here at Canggu but I've never them land anything, so I'm a little surprised to see 6:09 pull in a nice pan sized fish.
The tide, swell and wind were ideal at Canggu yesterday with a few cover-ups and plenty of clean walls pulsing through all morning.
Variable winds are forecast for the next week or, so are we done with the 'wet season' already? It's shaping up that way which is good news for surfers of Bali.
