The Cardamom Mountains and Resort in Koh Kong Cambodia The Kingdom of Wonders, these largely unexplored peaks and forests are gradually being opened up to tourism with new developments for Eco tourism. A less tourism friendly but popular activity is dirt biking. There is also an Eco lodge near to Koh Kong in Cambodia and other developments offering new opportunities for the adventurous And those wishing to see virgin and unexplored cardamom mountains and rainforest before tourism develop further. There is always the comfort of Hotels, Guesthouses, resorts and Restaurants in Koh Kong City (a Village in reality).
In the Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia Koh Kong, there are several resorts. The Rainbow Lodge, the Neptune Resort and the Cardamom Mountain Resort Hotel by Hans, all also offer Jungle Trekking, Boat and Kayak tours at. So you never have to rough it if you don't want to.

About the Cardamom Mountains and the flora and fauna
The Cardamom Mountains are situated mainly in Koh Kong Province in South West Cambodia. Covering over 4,400,000 Hectares nearly 11,000,000 acres. The highest peak in Cambodia is also in the Cardamoms is Phnom Aural at 1,813 meters (5,948 ft) high.
The Cardamom Mountains are largely covered with dense forest much of it largely unexplored. The extent of flora and in the area is largely unknown due to the huge area involved and the inaccessibility of many parts of it.
But a study in 2000 indicated there were over 600 species of bird, mammal, amphibians and reptiles, including elephants, tigers, clouded leopards. Large Indian Civet and Banteng cattle and Malaysian Sun Bear in the Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia and Koh Kong.
There were in addition many plant and insect species found in the Cardamom Mountains Koh Kong in Cambodia. There are also archeological remains in the Mountains notably Neolithic Jars which are said to contain the bones of deceased Cambodian Royalty. The rivers in the mountain region are home to Irrawaddy and humpback dolphins and also the endangered Siamese Crocodile.
A study in 2007 found new species and doubtless future studies will uncover much more about this little explored area in the Cardamom Mountains Koh Kong. In the evening, a campfire, and then eat, drink and sleep in the hammock in the Cardamom Mountains, Koh Kong Cambodia, after jungle tour.

In Koh Kong, Cambodia, we were driving to Koh Kong city and along the way passed the Cardamom Mountains. Between the Cardamom Mountains and Kong Kong city, we stopped off at some waterfalls.
Through Cambodia's Cardamom Mountains - Koh Kong To Battambang
July 2019, rainy season, Cambodia's western provinces. The forecast looked promising, but there was little information about the road north out of Koh Kong, just some yellow lines on the map, a chat with a Welsh expat, and a tourist blog or two. From the coast, I motorcycled directly through the hills to Battambang and saw some remote countryside along the way. As I say in the subtitles, the worst parts of the road are real nail-biters, and I did not film them because I was preoccupied with keeping my seat. I would not repeat the journey without a buddy and some first-aid supplies.

Cambodia Jungle Trek - Cardamom Mountains Charity Challenge

This trekking challenge takes you on a five day jungle trek in the South West of Cambodia through a region of natural beauty, but also bloody history. You will be camping under the canopy of trees with a hammock, mosquito net and tarp as your home for the duration of your jungle trek. By participating in this challenge you will also be helping Charity Challenge support the CBET (Community Based Ecotourism) project where you will witness firsthand the good work of Wildlife Alliance. This is not just an incredibly unique experience but an educational one. Following the fall of the dictator Pol Pot in 1979, the Khmer Rouge took to the Cardamom Mountains and continued to fight for a further two years. Many villagers here lost their lives. The region remained closed to tourists for decades but has recently opened up.
Your challenge starts in the lively capital city of Phnom Penh, where you will be given time to visit the city's famous sites, including the Old French Quarter as well as the bustling street-life and lively waterfront area, giving you an introduction to Khmer history and culture. You will then enjoy a beautiful boat ride to the remote Community Based Ecotourism village of Chi Phat at the foot of the Cardamom Mountains in Koh Kong Provence and the gateway to your greener challenge.
You will spend five days immersed in the life of the Cardamom Mountains through stories from the local guides, spotting wildlife, bathing in waterfalls, discovering caves and a 500 year old burial site, learning how to survive the challenging climate of the hot and humid jungle and not to forget those rainforest showers! You will also get the chance to discover village life, explore the traditional culture, food and handicrafts, and witness the flora and fauna of the tropical forest, including the Siamese crocodile, Asian elephants, tigers and leopards.
At the end of the challenge, you will return to Phnom Penh for your flight home, or can take advantage of an optional extension to incredible temple complex of Angkor Wat.
