Visit to St. Therese's Carmelite convent in Lisieux
This video shows an October 2008 visit to St. Therese's Carmelite convent in Lisieux,France. It re-opened in May 2008 after remodeling and construction.
One of the interesting things newly on display is the costume of Joan of Arc that Therese wore for the play that she wrote. A pitchfork from the time period was added to the display of the garden tools. Also Therese's habit was displayed in a manner different from before so that one can see where the crucifix from her profession is carried.
St. Therese's hair is now on display at her childhood home, les Buissonets.
The musical instrument being played is a zither which is frequently used in monastic communities.

La chapelle du Carmel de Lisieux (Calvados)
Le Carmel de Lisieux a été fondé en 1838. En 1888, Thérèse Martin y entrait, deux de ses sœurs l'y avaient précédée. La petite sœur Thérèse de l'Enfant Jésus décède le 30 septembre 1897 à l'âge de 24 ans, d'une longue et douloureuse tuberculose. Elle est totalement inconnue hormis d'un petit cercle de famille et d'amis. C'est la publication de son manuscrit autobiographique rédigé par obéissance et sans autre souci que d'en faire une action de grâce, qui va très rapidement la faire découvrir : « L'histoire d'une âme ». Elle sera canonisée en 1925.
Depuis les pèlerins venus de France et du monde entier se succèdent à Lisieux.

Les Buissonnets - St. Therese's house in Lisieux part 4
On May 13, 1883, Mary smiled at St. Therese when she was gravely ill in bed. Therese wrote, Suddenly, Mary's face radiated kindness and love. Therese was healed. The statue has since been called Virgin of the Smile. The original statue is now placed above the relic reliquary of St. Therese in the shrine of Lisieux Carmel.

St Therese in the Carmel de Lisieux
This is a little view of St Therese's statue in a side chapel of her Carmelite convent in Lisieux. Her major relics are kept underneath the statue. Also seen are potted flowers and bouquets left by pilgrims to thank her.
Above Therese's statue is the original Virgin of the Smile statue that was with the family. Therese was healed miraculously as a child when looking at this statue.
I did not originally have the intention of showing this because it is dark in the side chapel and difficult to film with little light but offer it anyway despite that.
