The Carnegie is a sleek, music-themed boutique hotel that features chic rooms with striking murals. Rooms offer free Wi-Fi, 40-inch flat-screen TVs, and iPod docks, plus mini-fridges and designer toiletries. Room service is available.
There's a free breakfast in the morning, and a wine and cheese social in the evening. There's no gym on-site, but you do have complimentary access to a nearby health club.
Carnegie Hall is a three minute walk away, and of course you're really close to Central Park and Columbus Circle, and just a 15 minute walk (or a short subway hop) to Times Square and the theater district. The upper Midtown neighborhood features a variety of great restaurants that has everything from some of the world's finest dining to 99-cent a slice New York pizza.
It's Midtown Manhattan , so parking can be a hassle...the Carnegie has a valet parking for a surcharge.

Of course, I did start out in Times Square (which once had 132 brothels in the area!) which is high on any tourist's list but after that, I saw many lesser known attractions which I thought were pretty cool, like the Metropolitan Life Insurance Tower building, the David N. Dinkins Municipal building, historic Trinity Church (where George Washington prayed), the Flatiron building, the High Line, Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center, Plaza Hotel (where the Beatles stayed and Kevin McCallister stayed in Home Alone 2), FAO Schwartz toy store (which is no longer open), Fifth Avenue shops for the rich and famous, Trump Tower, Carnegie Hall, the One57 building, St. Bart's Church, the Waldorf Astoria hotel, the 8 Spruce St. building, and the United Nations. Carnegie Hall is a concert venue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States, located at 881 Seventh Avenue, occupying the east stretch of Seventh Avenue between West 56th Street and West 57th Street, two blocks south of Central Park.
Designed by architect William Burnet Tuthill and built by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1891, it is one of the most prestigious venues in the world for both classical music and popular music. Carnegie Hall has its own artistic programming, development, and marketing departments, and presents about 250 performances each season. It is also rented out to performing groups. The hall has not had a resident company since 1962, when the New York Philharmonic moved to Lincoln Center's Philharmonic Hall (renamed Avery Fisher Hall in 1973 and David Geffen Hall in 2015).
Carnegie Hall has 3,671 seats, divided among its three auditoriums.
Carnegie Hall presented about 200 concerts in the 2008–2009 season, up 3 percent from the previous year. Its stages were rented for an additional 600 events in the 2008–2009 season.

Times Square is a major commercial intersection and neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets.[1] Brightly adorned with billboards and advertisements, Times Square is sometimes referred to as The Crossroads of the World,[2] The Center of the Universe,[3] the heart of The Great White Way,[4][5][6] and the heart of the world.[7] One of the worlds busiest pedestrian intersections,[8] it is also the hub of the Broadway Theater District[9] and a major center of the worlds entertainment industry.[10] Times Square is one of the worlds most visited tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually.[11] Approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square daily, many of them tourists,[12] while over 460,000 pedestrians walk through Times Square on its busiest days.[7]
Formerly Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building, the site of the annual ball drop which began on December 31, 1907, and continues today, attracting over a million visitors to Times Square every New Years Eve.[13]
Times Square is not a square in the geometric sense of a polygon, but is more of a bowtie shape, or two triangles emanating roughly north and south from 45th Street.[14] Duffy Square, the northernmost of Times Squares triangles, was dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York Citys U.S. 69th Infantry Regiment and is the site of a memorial to him, along with a statue of George M. Cohan.

Corrections: At 11:30, the next Avenue is Sutton Place and Sutton Place South. York Avenue starts at 59th Street. Also, Yorkville starts at 79th Street. The area I was entering was the neighborhood of Sutton Place. At 21:19, the building is not 300 East 57th Street, it is at 21:00. At 40:30, the building is only known by its street address, not One57. 42:11 is One57 Street at 157 West 57th Street.
