This trip was unplanned , just saw Casa del Castillo at the recommended places to go in trip advisory , so we waze our way there and ta da !! we found an Old Spanish Town. so amazing .
this was fun! even though some of the places creeped me out a little bit, we also visited the biggest catholic church in Asia.

5/5/19 - Taal Heritage Town, Philippines - heading out to Taal Heritage Town to see Asia’s largest Catholic Church (Taal Basilica) and try some delicious foods in the town market. We went to an old house and then found the camera museum, which was closed.

Taal Volcano in the Philippines has sent aneruption plume a kilometer above the crater, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The agency says Taal is showing a fast escalation involcanic activity and could erupt lava within weeks
Volcano Taal, which erupted on Sunday, the 12th of January 2020, prompting mass evacuations, is producing terrifying lightning strikes in its ash cloud above the crater.
The Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Philippines released a statement at 7.30pm local time to announce the Alert Level for the volcano was being upped from level 3 to level 4. The statement read: “As of 5.30 pm PST eruptive activity at Taal Volcano main Crater intensified as continuous eruption generated a tall 10-15 kilometer steam-laded tephra column with frequent volcanic lightning that rained wet ashfall on the general north as far as Quezon City. This means that hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days.”
The volcano, south of the Philippine capital Manila spewed a giant ash plume accompanied by rumbling sounds and tremors on Sunday, prompting authorities to raise the alert level and order the evacuation of about 8,000 residents.

Casa Punzalan Heritage House
Casa Punzalan is the first tourist inn in the centuries-old town of Taal. It is an 18th-century house converted into a small hotel under the auspices of the Taal Heritage Foundation. It has 3-fan rooms and 2 air-conditioned rooms, named after the children of the owners of the house.

Get Lost in Taal Volcano Secret Trail Hike
For my birthday this year, I decided to take the Taal Secret Trail Tour through Taal Lake Yacht Club ( with family and friends. We were told it would be an easy hike for all of us beginners so we unanimously and confidently decided not to opt for the horse ride. Boy were we in for a challenge.
Tip #1: Hike as early as you can so you don’t die of the heat!
We left the resort 8:30am and started hiking at about 9:30 or 10am. We should have started at 6am! We ended up calling for the horses halfway through.
I hope they stop cutting the trees. One reason we died of heat is that there were no trees or bushes we could hide under at the beginning of the hike.
Tip #2: Bring a mask or a bandana especially for those asthmatics out there.
They sell masks for Php30 at the sari-sari store.
They sell water and soda at the peak!
Other than the hike/heat challenge, the tour was great and Taal is beautiful!
