Castle Campbell - Dollar Scotland HD Walk Through
Castle Campbell set in the Dollar Glen, Ochil Hills Scotland. Mary Queen of Scots visited as did John Knox. First mentioned in a Papal Bull or charter issued by the pope in 1466, which it was called The Palace of Glowm, which lead to the later name of Castle Gloom. Earl Colin took over the castle in 1457 and petitioned King James IV of Scotland, to have the castle renamed Castle Campbell.
I visited the Castle December 30th 2019, it was open to the public and due to the time of year it was very quiet, so we had the chance to walk around filming and taking photos. Recorded using a GoPro Hero3 on a Zhiyun Rider M gimbal, mounted on a Scorpion grip.

Dramatically situated above Dollar Glen is the forbidding looking 15th-century fortress, Castle Campbell.
The castle was the lowland stronghold of the powerful Campbell earls of Argyll, who were seldom far from the major political and religious events of late medieval Scotland. Attractive terraced gardens.

Castle Campbell is a medieval castle situated above the town of Dollar, Clackmannanshire, in central Scotland. It was the lowland seat of the earls and dukes of Argyll, chiefs of Clan Campbell, from the 15th to the 19th century, and was visited by Mary, Queen of Scots, in the 16th century.

Castle Campbell, lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, is a medieval castle situated above the town of Dollar, Clackmannanshire, in central Scotland. It was the seat of the earls and dukes of Argyll, chiefs of Clan Campbell, and was visited by Mary, Queen of Scots, in the 16th century.
The tower house was built in the early 15th century and was known as Castle Glume. The castle was originally a property of the Clan Stuart but passed by marriage to Colin Campbell, 1st Earl of Argyll and Lord Chancellor of Scotland. He had the name of the castle changed to Castle Campbell by an Act of Parliament in 1489.The Hall Range was constructed about 1500 and would originally have provided additional lodging and public reception.

Took advantage of the free weekend pass from Historic Scotland last year during St Andrew's Weekend to visit one of their properties in Clackmannanshire. Never visited before but really enjoyed the views from the top of the Castle.

Bannockburn and Castle Campbell
Bannockburn Battlefield still resonates with people of Scottish descent today. Bannockburn was an important victory for the Scots in the war for independence. The battlefield is located near Stirling. Castle Campbell is also located near Stirling. Set high on a hill, this castle was once known as castle Gloom. Today it is hard to see why it had that name!
