Come with me to visit a beautiful castle in this small, colourful town of Loket in the Czech Republic.Now known as Czechia. Less than 2 hours drive from Prague. Beautiful drone footage of the castle and of the colourful town below .It was just raining before I filmed this video, so luckily it stopped. Day 4 of the road trip through the Czech-Republic brings me to the small cosy town Loket which is about a 30 minute drive from Karlovy Vary. The town is known for its castle that has the most infamous torture basement. Watch the video to get a glimpse of how people used to be tortured in the medieval times, and perhaps still? Crazy stuff!

This place is pretty far off the beaten track. It is a charming town with a castle towering over the town which sits atop a cliff over the Ohre River.

HRAD LOKET / LOKET CASTLE
Loket Castle (Czech: Hrad Loket, German: Burg Elbogen) is a 12th-century Gothic style castle about 12 kilometres (7 mi) from Karlovy Vary on a massive rock in the town of Loket, Karlovarský kraj, Czech Republic. It is surrounded on three sides by the Ohře river. Once known as the Impregnable Castle of Bohemia, because of its thick walls, it is one of the oldest and most valuable historical stone castles in the Czech lands. It is administered by the Loket Castle Foundation since 1993 and preserved today as a museum and national monument.

Day trip to KARLOVY VARY! ft. a bit of Loket castle
Karlovy Vary are a charming spa town west from Prague, 1.5-2 hours drive (or you can take the train. or fly, even, if you're that sort of person.). Things you should not miss: the promenades, Becherovka, all the gross springs, wafers and the funicular up to the lookout tower - really worth it, plus it's really cheap!

On a rock, which the river Eger (Cheb) flows around in a nearly circular arch, rises an old castle - Loket (elbows). First mention of it found in the 13th Century. Join me on a little tour.

Watch Loket Castle and the Ohře river in West Bohemia, Czech Republic. West Bohemia is a region rich in mineral springs and famous spa towns like Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad) and Františkovy Lázně (Franzensbad) and more. The Loket town and its castle is located between Marienbad and Carlsbad.
In this video you can see the Loket castle from the outside as well as its two courtyards from within its gates with a closer look at the castle tower. You can view the Ohře river from a bridge and observe a few boats and people on them paddling up against the stream of the river. There is also some kind of outside theater on the left bank of the river with many auditorium benches.
