Sydney, and New South Wales are experiencing a usual water shortage with rain very scarce. Unless it rains soon, water restrictions will be imposed.
So this is a visit to Cataract Dam, south of Sydney to have a look at this beautiful dam and its low water level.
Water goes down because of 1. Normal Usage, 2. Evaporation, 3. Leakage, and 4.Environmental Flows(!!)...the NSW Liberal Government even let out the flows during periods of drought then wonder why we are running out of water!!!!
It would seem water restrictions do not apply to Government wastage.....see what you think.....

CATARACT DAM - NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA
This dam was started in 1902 and finished in 1907. It is part of the Upper Nepean River Scheme, New South Wales, Australia. You'll see the large amount let out to feed constantly down the river. The dam is located high on the Illawarra Escarpment.

WaterNSW is warning 7.3 million litres of water per day could be lost.

New Photographs and video reveal water courses within Sydney's drinking water catchment have run dry after recent longwall mining underneath them. This video was taken recently in Illawarra Coal’s Dendrobium mining lease within Cataract Dam's water catchment Special Area.

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor ( because my mobile wont merge video mobile is memory full ,. and my computer merger app on window 10 very slow and wont work probly ,. i whent ,.Cataract Dam is a beautiful spot for a barbeque with glorious scenery, viewing areas, scenic walks, ample parking and it is FREE. This is a great spot, whether your interest is nature and the environment, history and culture, bird watching or bush walking.
It is a fantastic spot for family gatherings and children.
The Cataract Dam and Picnic Area is located near Appin and is 85 km south of Sydney and 34 km north of Wollongong, so it is central to a variety of other great scenic locations including Dharawal National Park, and the fantastic beaches of Wollongong.Lie under the trees, listening to the tranquil birds and the soothing gush of the dam's waters, and enjoy the modern facilities provided by the park including electric barbeques, drinking water, picnic tables, a children's playground and toilets.
Try to spot the endangered Red-crowned Toadlet, the Spotted Quail-thrush and the Painted Honeyeater birds, and observe the beautiful tree coverage. (Remember to put your rubbish in the bins provided and do not tamper with any plants or animals.)
