Overmountain Men Reenactors Cross the Catawba River in Morganton
Members of the Overmountain Victory Trail Association and the Historic Burke Foundation, Inc., reenacted the crossing of the Catawba River at Greenlee Ford in Morganton, NC, in 1780. The crossing commemorated the 235th anniversary of the crossing made by some 1,400 Overmountain Men who forded the river on horseback and foot Oct. 1, 1780, to pursue British Major Patrick Ferguson. The Overmountain Men marched on to defeat Ferguson at Kings Mountain. The victory was a turning point in the American Revolution leading to the ultimate victory for American Independence. Just Around the River Bend - New Bern
The first weekend in May, Ladybug and I went down to New Bern on a whim where we camped by the Neuse. On Saturday we headed down to Oriental to their town wide yardsale. In the afternoon we drove back to New Bern where we strolled downtown and set out on a scavenger hunt. On Sunday we were joined by friends and paddled the Upper Broad Creek.

New Surgery Center Tour - CHS Blue Ridge - Morganton, NC
Here's a tour of the new Surgery Center addition at Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge Morganton, led by Deanne Avery. The project has taken over a year to complete. It essentially doubles the size of our ORs to allow for more complicated surgical procedures using specialized gear. There are many other improvements as well.
