Hello everyone...
Cave of the Mounds, a natural limestone cave located near Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, United States, is named for two nearby hills called the Blue Mounds. It is located at the southern slope of the east hill. The cave's beauty comes from its many varieties of mineral formations called speleothems. The Chicago Academy of Sciences considers the Cave of the Mounds to be the significant cave of the upper Midwest because of its beauty, and it is promoted as the jewel box of major American caves. In 1987, the United States Department of the Interior and the National Park Service designated the cave as a National Natural Landmark.

Cave of the Mounds - Blue Mounds, WI
We took a trip to Cave of the Mounds in Blue Mounds, WI. It was a rainy (turned into a stormy), cold day but we still had a great time. The boys got to explore a cave and look for gemstones and fossils.

Journey into the Cave of the Mounds
I may have spent 45 years appearing on TV as a consumer advocate, but it is still an honor for me to be recognized by strangers. It happened again...this time in a very dark and damp place--Cave of the Mounds near Madison, WI. Becky, the nice and knowledgeable tour guide, pointed her flashlight and studied me like I was a stalagmite. I've seen you on TV, she said. I've also been recognized as the creator of these videos for the Janesville Gazette. Folks in Janesville and Madison have come up to me to say they know me from my Gazette videos and appreciate them. Strangers being kind to an old fossil!

Cave of the Mounds
Warning: Watch out for the cheesy ending!
This place was amazing! I think this video will give you a good taste of what it's like. This was my first report ever. I used it to get my first job at BYU Weekly. I had no idea what I was doing , but I had fun with it. I used my digital camera to shoot it while visiting Wisconsin during the summer of '08.
