Kumbhalgarh | A Trip to World Heritage Site | Chapter II | Mahua Bagh Resort
About Kumbhalgarh:
Kumbhalgarh (Kumbhal fort) is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. It is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, Kumbhalgarh is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the great king and warrior of Mewar. Occupied until the late 19th century, the fort is now open to the public and is spectacularly lit for a few minutes each evening. Kumbalgarh is situated 82 km northwest of Udaipur by road. It is the most important fort in Mewar after Chittaurgarh.
In 2013, at the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Kumbhalgarh Fort, along with five other forts of Rajasthan, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan.
With a wall over 38 km long, the fort is among the largest wall complex in the world, and the second largest fort in Rajasthan after Chittor Fort.
About Mahua Bagh Resort:
Perched on a lofty height of 11,000 feet above sea level, Mahua Bagh Resort is stationed on its own private grounds within stone’s throw of the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Kumbhalgarh Fort and other heritage sites. Not far from here is the impressive Kumbhalgarh fortress wall that ceases only after 36km, making it the largest wall of India. At Mahua Bagh, witness the gratifying side of Kumbhalgarh’s rich vegetation and wildlife or simply let your spirit wander into the wilderness of marvels from ancient times. At every bend and turn on the road, the daunting view of Kumbhalgarh will strike you with sheer wonderment.

Laxmi Vilas Palace (Vadodara - Gujarat - India)
(EN) The term Maharaja Palace actually refers to a series of palaces in Vadodara, India, constructed since the Gaekwad family started ruling the Vadodara State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada. This building, not really a palace, was given up for the Nazarbaug Palace built in old classical style. This once a magnificent building is now in a dilapidated state.
After this the Lakshmi Vilas Palace, an extravagant building of the Indo-Saracenic school, was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890 at a cost of GBP180,000. Major Charles Mant was the architect.
It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built in the nineteenth century and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. At the time of construction it boasted the most modern amenities such as elevators and the interior is reminiscent of a large European country house. It remains the residence of the Royal Family, who continue to be held in high esteem by the residents of Baroda.
Its ornate Darbar Hall, which is sometimes the venue of music concerts and other cultural events, has a Venetian mosaic floor, Belgium stained glass windows and walls with intricate mosaic decorations. Outside of the Darbar Hall is an Italinate courtyard of water fountains. The palace houses a remarkable collection of old armoury and sculptures in bronze, marble & terracotta by Fellici. The grounds were landscaped by William Goldring, a specialist from Kew Gardens. The palace is open to the public and an audio tour is available.
The Palace compound is of over 700 acres (2.8 km2) and houses a number of buildings, particularly the Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum building. Adjacent to the Motibaug Palace and the Museum is the Moti Bagh Cricket Ground, the offices of the Baroda Cricket Association, and a very rare indoor teak floored tennis court and badminton court (where the All India Badminton Championships were previously held). There are also two clay tennis courts plus a derelict fives court.
The Museum building was constructed as a school for the Maharaja's children. Today a large number of works of art belonging to the Royal family have been displayed in the museum. The most remarkable of these is the fabulous collection of the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, who was specially commissioned by the then Maharaja of Baroda. The collection includes portraits of the Royal family in addition to the paintings based on Hindu mythology for which Raja Ravi Varma was famous.
The Maharaja constructed a miniature railway line, which circled the mango orchard within the palace compound, to take his children from the school to the main Lakshmi Vilas Palace. The train engine was recently refurbished by Ranjitsinh Gaekwad, the current maharaja, and can be seen at the entrance to the Museum.
The palace also boasted a small zoo. The only remnant of the zoo is the pond where a number of crocodiles remain. The Navlakhi (literally meaning of nine hundred thousand) Well, a fine 'baoli' or step well, is 50 metres north of the palace.
In the 1930s Maharaja Pratapsinh created a golf course for use by his European guests. In the 1990s Pratapsinh's grandson Samarjitsinh, a former Ranji trophy cricket player, renovated the course and opened it to the public. The course was expanded in 2004 into a beautiful course managed by the Gaekwad Baroda Golf Club and now boasts over 300 members. The Motibaug Palace is now the club house for the club, behind which are a large new swimming pool designed by the renowned architect Karan Grover, sauna and gym facilities. Packs of langoors & peacocks can be spotted around the palace compound. The present management of the club have used the old British spelling Lukshmi Vilas Palace instead of the better known Lakshmi Vilas Palace.
Two other palaces in Baroda were the Makarpura Palace, built on the southern outskirts of Baroda which now houses a defence installation and Pratap Vilas Palace, which houses the prestigious Railway Staff College of India.

Agra City Guide | Taj Mahal Travel Video in Uttar Pradesh, India Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning. Today we are in Agra (आगरा). How excited are you? Super excited. I mean 'hey guess what' there is a little kind of tiny attraction here we might be visiting. Maybe the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल). The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) is actually closed on Fridays and we didn't realize that until we got here. So we can't visit today but instead we're going to visit Agra Fort (आगरा का किला). Yeah. And maybe the Baby Taj Mahal. Yeah, and the good news is that I've actually been to Agra (آگرہ) before and I've been to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) and it is one of the most impressive I've ever visited in India. If this fort was outside of Agra (आगरा) it would be a standalone attraction in another city. So we're going to go check that out today and maybe check out the Taj from across the river. And then we have to buy tickets for the Taj. Right so busy day actually. Let's begin.
Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that draws big numbers, especially on a Friday when the Taj is closed. Admission to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is through the Amar Singh Gate, which is the south gate. Outside the gates you’ll find guides offering their services, so that’s something you can keep in mind if you’re looking to learn about the fort’s history and architecture.
So we've been getting all of these like teaser views of the Taj. Last night we had it during dinner and today we have this. And I think we're going to get one more vantage point later on in the day. And then finally tomorrow we actually visit it.
Once you walk through a series of gates, you’ll find yourself in a giant complex of marble palaces, inner courtyards and gardens, complete with wild monkeys running along the fort’s walls.
You also get some pretty cool views of the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) off in the distance - but we’ll show you an even better lookout point later in this video.
The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) was built by Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child in 1631. He wrote that the beauty of the structure made “the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes”, and while I may not have shed a tear, it’s a sight that did not disappoint.
So we made it to the Baby Taj Mahal (Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah - اعتماد الدولہ کا مقبر).
So our last stop of the day is the Mehtab Gardens (मेहताब बाग़ - مہتاب باغ,) which are directly behind the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) so you get some pretty cool views.
so that is a wrap from Agra (आगरा).
This is part of our Travel in India video series showcasing Indian food, Indian culture and Indian cuisine.

Cultural Heritage Tourism and a Minority's Perspective: Erica Lyons at TEDxVictoriaHarbour
Though little known to many, cultural heritage tourism plays an important role in helping preserve historical treasures and memory. And this can be especially true for minorities. The example of the Jewish communities of the Far East exemplifies the vital importance of tourism to historic communities of the past and rapidly dwindling contemporary communities. Erica is the founder and managing editor of Asian Jewish LifeShe also writes a column for New York's The Jewish Press, and is a freelance writer for various publications often writing about Jewish Asia. She holds a degree in English Literature, with a minor in Judaic Studies, from SUNY Albany's Honors Program and a law degree from Georgetown University. She has called Hong Kong home since 2002.

Lyrics:
Kitne vaade, kitni baatein baaki hain
Kitne din aur, kitni raatein baaki hain
In parchhaiyo se badal bhi jau toh
Mai befikar hu, madhosh ho bhi jau toh
Tum jab paas aati ho
Palko se muskurati ho
Havaaye bhi gungunati hai
Tum jab paas aati ho
Uljhi nazare kaise anjaan sheheron me
Saari kasme behti yaado ki lehro me
Iss geherai se bekhabar ho jau toh
Mai befikar hu, madhosh ho bhi jau toh
Tum jab paas aati ho
Palko se muskurati ho
Havaaye bhi gungunati hai
Tum jab paas aati ho
Kho jaane ki zidd na karo
Khwaaish hai ye dil ki
Raaho ko nazar mei rakho
Mai bhi toh laut aunga
Havaao sa gungunaunga
Kitne vaade, kitni baatein baaki hain
Kitne din aur kitni raatein baaki hain
Tum jab paas aati ho
Palko se muskurati ho
Havaaye bhi gungunati hai
Tum jab paas aati ho
Tum jab paas aati ho
Tum jab paas aati ho
Tum jab paas aati ho
Tum jab paas aati ho

I study in an environment where we are taught to keep our environment green and make us better and more aware citizens of today.
Ananya Shankar from Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chennai is talking about Marina Beach in Chennai during an event organised by INTACH.
Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in the city of Chennai, India, along the Bay of Bengal, part of the Indian Ocean. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Besant Nagar in the south, a distance of 13 km (8.1 mi), making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and the world's second longest. The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up the Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The average width of the beach is 300 m (980 ft) and the width at the widest stretch is 437 m (1,434 ft). Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because of the dangers, as the undercurrent is very turbulent. It is the most crowded beach in the country and attracts about 30,000 visitors a day during weekdays and 50,000 visitors a day during the weekends and on holidays. During summer months, about 15,000 to 20,000 people visit the beach daily.

Synopsis
---------------
A selfish NRI who does not care about his relatives back in India, suddenly decides to come and seek their blessings once property comes into the equation.
Sukumar (Aadi) is a selfish and extremely money minded young fellow who is very successful in life. He however needs some urgent cash to kickstart his dream project. At precisely this point, he comes to know that an inheritance worth 150Crores is waiting for him in his village.
He decides to travel to the village and meet his grandmother Vandanamma (Sharada), a slightly cranky old lady who is revered by the villagers. Sukumar tries to emotionally blackmail her for the property.
But his plans keep getting thwarted by history, his uncle Rao Ramesh and others. A track with Sankari (Nisha Aggarwal) also comes in during this time.
Will Sukumar succeed in his plans or will his evil schemes be detected by the villagers? That forms the story.
Pilla Jamindar fame Ashok has teamed up with ‘Lovely’ Aadi for ‘Sukumarudu’ movie. Lot of expectation were mounted on the film due to the director’s previous movie and a good album composed by Anoop Rubens.
The film is basically a fun film. There's something unique about most of the characters that are etched very well by the director. Aadi's got it in him to entertain you, so long as you do not increase your expectations from him - to do what the big heroes do. But yes, he's good in his dancing shoes but one would say that is mainly because of the music provided by Anup Reubens. Nisha Agarwal had a neat role and performed well and in whatever screen space that Bhavna Ruparel got, she made good use of to show her talent. The movie is a bit lengthy, and the fight scenes could have been pruned. On the whole, a summer entertainer.
