Antique Otis Traction Elevator at Community Regional Medical Center Annex in Fresno, CA
Otis older non-illuminating black button fixtures. This elevator has a DC motor, and a motor generator. The cab on this elevator has not been redone, it still feels like a very classic cab. This is the only unmodernized old elevator in the complex, at least that I have seen. This elevator is somewhat hidden, I asked an employee where it was. The hospital map shows it, but it is confusing to find, because there is a part of the hallway leading to it where there is a closed, windowless door that would be straight ahead of you if you were trying to walk to this elevator from the main entrance, at what appears to be the end of the hallway, at least on the 1st floor. The map shows the corridor being open, and it does not show the door you have to go through. You have to go through this door, which is unmarked, but not locked, then go down the hallway, and the elevator is at the very end of the hallway. There is a key switch in this elevator marked Emergency, what would it do? There is a separate stop switch, would it act as a 2nd stop switch? This elevator has had some changes, but it is still mostly original I would say. The interlocks on this elevator are not original, they are newer Otis interlocks. The gate switch on this elevator may or may not be original, considering that the interlocks are not original. The door operator may or may not be original. It is possible that all of the door equipment was replaced, but I am not sure if all of the door equipment was replaced. Although the fixtures are original, it appears some of the buttons/switches on the panel were wired to do different things than they originally did. The fan switch appeared to act as a door hold switch. The original door open button had been removed (maybe it broke), and the up arrow button was wired to be the door open button, and the original function the button had (it would only work in attendant service), has not been wired up to a different button. The U button was missing the cap. It also appears that there used to be a directional indicator on the back wall of the elevator (not a lantern, an indicator that shows what direction the elevator was going), but it was removed, and the hole was covered up with what appears to be 2 panels designed to cover up where light switches, or electrical outlets used to be. The call button (but not the panel) on the 1st floor appears to have been replaced, possibly a while ago. It is a newer Otis non-illuminating black button, unlike the rest of the buttons. But the controller, and motor generator are original. I hope this elevator does not get modernized. Notice the very rare door sill.

Nice 1960s Vintage Dover Hydraulic Elevator at the 3000 North Lamar Building with DieselDucy.
Riding the very nice, vintage Dover hydraulic Elevator at the 3000 North Lamar Office Building in Austin, Texas with DieselDucy, and indeed, Dover made some of the best hydraulic elevators, along with Otis and Montgomery. And for an elevator that's 45 to 50 years old, that is amazingly great, since elevators back then were very well made.
Worcester: 1897 Otis Traction Elevators @ Commerce Building (340 Main Street)
These are original 1897 Otis Traction Elevators, twice modded, at Worcester's first skyscraper, the Commerce Building, 340 Main Street, Worcester, Massachusetts.
These were very likely gated initially, then around the 50's (by petina of announciator) came the automatic control, with the circle Heat-Sensitive Buttons. Probably had those inside the cabs as well.
More recently (late 90's it looks like), was brutally modded with craptacular GAL Jet Plus fixtures, and the boring ACME floor counters.
These were fun to ride, even when ΔS was a bit tough to take (700FPM Geared Traction Motors). There are some nice Pre-Door moments, and one bad leveling instance.
Plans were to ride two of them, but a third was sitting there for us. Decided to go for all, but this was running long enough, and decided to end it.
I wish the lifts and entry were brighter, so you can really appreciate the details on the doors, as well as the lower parts of the cabs.
