The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 28 kilometres.
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 06:00 and 22:00 with a varying frequency of 10–20 minutes.
The system has also planned to takeover the existing Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System by 2021, which would be upgraded to operate using the rolling stock of the Chennai Metro. CMRL was recognised by the International Association of Public Transport in 2011.

Chennai Metro Rail completes one of the two Anna Salai tunnels
Chennai metro rail completed building of one of the two tunnels in arterial Anna Salai, a day after its engineers attempted in vain to achieve a break through. Once the tunnelling under Anna Salai is complete, officials said traffic will be restored to its original by December end. It has been seven years since traffic restrictions were imposed on Anna Salai and the four-lane road has been converted into single lane or double lane at some stretches.

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Bus Terminus, also known by its former name Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus is a bus terminus located in Chennai, India, providing inter-state bus transport services. It is located on the 100 feet (30 m) inner-ring road (Jawaharlal Nehru Road) in Koyambedu between SAF Games Village and the Koyambedu Vegetable Market. It is the largest bus terminus in Asia. The bus terminus originally functioned at the Broadway terminus near Madras High Court in George Town, in an area covering about 1.5 acres (6,100 m2). With the growing population and transportation demand, a new terminus was planned at Koyambedu.
The terminus was planned and construction started by the Karunanidhi during DMK regime at a cost of ₹ 103 crores and inaugurated on 18 November 2002 by Jayalalithaa during AIADMK regime . The terminus was renamed to 'Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Bus Terminus' on 9 October 2018 in honour of AIADMK founder and former chief minister M. G. Ramachandran.
The terminus has 6 platforms in 3 bus fingers with 180 bus bays. Spread over an area of 37 acres (150,000 m2) in Koyambedu, the terminus is accredited with the ISO 9001:2000 quality certification for its quality management and excellence. It also has an idle parking area for 60 buses and can station 270 buses at any given time. Being the most important entry-exit point of the city, the terminus has a capacity to handle over 2,000 buses and 200,000 passengers a day. The terminus currently handles more than 500 buses at a time, and 3,000 buses and 250,000 passengers a day. The 36.5-acre (148,000 m2) bus terminus has an 17,840 sq ft (1,657 m2) waiting facility for passengers, a 25,000 sq ft (2,300 m2) parking space for auto rickshaws, cabs and private cars, and 16,000 sq ft (1,500 m2) parking space for two-wheelers.[3] The amenities provided in the terminus include 3 hotels and 3 smaller eateries inside the terminus, 3 locker rooms, 10 travel agency offices, shops, supermarkets, ATMs, dorm rooms (A/C and non-A/C) for rent, toilets, round-the-clock security, pure drinking water free of cost facilitated by a reverse-osmosis treatment plant, a 24-hour Emergency Medical Care Centre, a 24- hour Pharmacy and Free Wi-Fi internet. Wheel chairs are provided for the physically disabled. In 2012, the number of reservation counters was increased from 6 to 16.
It has been estimated that over 500,000 footfalls per day is being recorded at the terminus and over 4,800 buses, including intra-city and mofussil buses, ply in and out of the terminus.

The Last stretch of the Chennai Metro Rail Project from AG-DMS to Washermenpet of 10 kms has been completed and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Thiru. Narendra Modi and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 06:00 and 22:00 with a varying frequency of 10 to 20 minutes.

First underground metro train in Chennai to run from May 14
The much anticipated underground line of Chennai Metro Rail will open for the public on 14th May. Chennai will be the fourth city in India to have such a transport system after Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), which now operates a 45km rail network in the city, will conduct feasibility studies and prepare a detailed project report.

Chennai (Madras), India in a minute
It was just a 1 hour flight from Colombo to Chennai. I was already in South India in January, so I decided to take a train to Varanasi to go to Nepal.
I like Chennai (or Madras) though especially the metro going high above the ground, standing in the doorway for a fresh breeze and Marina Beach which has many happy people in the evening. When I have time I want to make a special video about Marina Beach, one about the Metro and one about the rest of Chennai. For now this is a very short quick edit of my many video shot.
