Cherokee Lake Tennessee An Aerial View!
Cherokee Lake, also known as Cherokee Reservoir, is a reservoir in Tennessee formed by the impoundment of the Holston River behind Cherokee Dam.
The reservoir has a surface area of about 28,780 acres (11,650 ha), a flood-storage capacity of 749,406 acre feet (924,379,000 m3), and nearly 400 miles (640 km) of shoreline.[1] In a normal year, the lake water level fluctuates over a range of about 27 feet (8.2 m).[1]
Cherokee Dam is a Tennessee Valley Authority dam intended for hydroelectric generation and flood control. The dam was built on a crash schedule; construction started August 1, 1940, and was completed on December 5, 1941.[1]
Public access areas, Panther Creek State Park and other public parks, commercial boat docks and resorts, and a state wildlife management area on the shores of the lake attract extensive recreational use.[1]
In order to maintain dissolved oxygen concentrations in the river below the dam at levels that will support aquatic life, perforated hoses suspended above the bottom of Cherokee Reservoir are used to inject oxygen into the reservoir water and devices which resemble large underwater fans located just above the dam are used to push warm oxygenated water downward to the depths where water is released for hydroelectric generation.[1][2]

A few facts about
Murphy, Cherokee County, North Carolina
(formed in 1839, incorporated in 1851)
Murphy located at the confluence of the Valley River and the Hiawassee River,
Situated along the Hiawassee River, known to the Cherokee as Tlanusi-yi (The Leech Place). An old Cherokee legend told of a giant leech named Tlanusi that lived in the river.
During the Forced Removals of the Cherokees, the US Army built Ft Butler in what's now called Murphy.
The Cherokee were collected and taken over the Unicoi Turnpike (then know as thr trading route) and taken to internment camps at Ft Cass (Charleston, TN).
the Unicoi Turnpike connected the Cherokee Land EAST of thr mountains to the Overhill Towns of TN.
Murphy is the westernmost county seat in the state of NC.

born in what is now known as Murphy.

Located in the the Blue Ridge Mountains,
wildlife includes, bear, coyote, deer, fox and recently reintroduced ELK.
Due to Murphy's elevation, it stays significantly cooler than other parts of the SE.

Dual Sport ADV Motorcycle Ride in North Carolina Mountains
It was beautiful, cool, foggy September morning in 2015 when myself (Brock Bumgarner) and friends Bobby Keller and Christian Estes set out on an all day dual sport - adventure motorcycle ride in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.
The video starts in Collettsville, NC on Adako Rd and we soon turn onto the historic Wilson Creek Gorge area on Brown Mountain Beach Road. We stop for a brief stay at Christian's creek side cabin for a break before hopping back onto our motos to continue onward past the well known Betsy's Ole Country Store on the corner of Brown Mt Beach Rd and NC HWY 90.
We continued north on HWY 90 until we made a left on the famous Roseboro Rd. which runs from the historic Edgemont community all the way to the Blue Ridge Parkway (a beautiful road to ride if you've never done so.)
After Roseboro, you'll have a small bit of Parkway driving until we turn off on Hwy 221 near Blowing Rock, NC to make our way down Shulls Mill road to visit and hike the stunning Hebron Rock Colony (no video of the rocks unfortunately.)
Lastly, after filling our bellies at the tasty Woodlands BBQ in Blowing Rock we continued out journey down the old Globe road. Globe Rd. is an extremely scenic road which runs all the way down through the gorge to Anthony Creek Rd which will dump you back onto Hwy 90.
All in all we completed about 150 mile loop and a 3 mile hike this day...I'll never forget the sights and memories made that day (or any other day on a motorcycle for that matter!)

Lawyer On Graham County Sex Charges
The attorney for a Graham County woman charged with statutory rape and indecent liberties involving a teenage boy says she's innocent. Barbara Orr was arrested Wednesday for the crimes allegedly committed more than three years ago. Orr's attorney says he and his client are shocked. Reid Brown says the next part of the investigative process will help prove her innocence. Brown says hearings will be held early next year. By Rex Hodge
