Escent Condomimium Chiang mai
Escent Condo Chiang Mai
Part of Thailand’s Central Group conglomerate and with over 35 years of proven experience, the multi-award winning –and listed- property company Central Pattana enjoys an unrivalled retail portfolio that encompasses no less than 30 world-class shopping centres throughout the country not least Chiang Mai’s very own Central Airport Plaza and CentralFestival malls. With ambitions to add value to their core business interests by developing branded residential real estate within the immediate vicinity of their various retail complexes, the new subsidiary CPN Residence was formed to launch their inaugural local high-rise project, ESCENT Chiang Mai. Already mid-construction with a mooted completion date of the first quarter 2018, the luxury condo will embody a balanced juxtaposition of traditional Lanna [Northern Thai] inspired decorative style with contemporary good looks and modern day refinements.
Enviably sited on the Chiang Mai-Doi Saket Road 200m from the San Dek Intersection, ESCENT Chiang Mai lies in the very heart of the city’s latest economic hotspot directly behind Central Festival; representing the biggest shopping centre in the entire region, the futuristic-looking mall boasts in excess of 300 shops and restaurants in addition to Central Food Hall (said to be Asia’s finest supermarket), a couple of food courts, a weekly night market, a state-of-the-art cinema with IMAX 3D/4DX, an ice-skating rink and, particularly handy for those lacking their own transport, a free shuttle bus service which operates four routes daily from CentralFestival to designated venues throughout the trendy Nimman neighbourhood, the 13th century ‘Old City’, Chiang Mai Airport as well as the illustrious Night Bazaar. Poised just a short ten minute stroll from the condo are Terminals 2 and 3 of the ‘Provincial Arcade Transport Station’ offering residents expedient access to white city buses, red songthaew, tuk tuk, licensed private cabs and motorcycle taxis serving local destinations as well as long-distance public buses travelling to a multitude of different towns and cities throughout Northern and Northeastern Thailand, the Central provinces, Bangkok, Hua Hin, Phuket and even as far as Luang Prabang in Laos. Barely any less reachable from ESCENT Chiang Mai is the well-trafficked Chiang Mai Business Park (CBP) home to a wide array of commercial and leisure outlets including DIY store HomePro, furniture retailer Index Living Mall, the upcoming Platinum Fashion Mall and, sheltering an extensive selection of fresh and frozen foodstuffs, beverages, personal care products, clothing, household appliances, electronic devices along with a sizeable food park and bill payment facilities, the city’s largest and most cost-conscious hypermarket, Big C Extra. Owing to the condo’s close proximity to the Super Highway, residents benefit from having fast, uninterrupted passage to Bangkok Hospital (deemed by many Thai and foreign expats alike as the best private medical hub in all Chiang Mai) and, scarcely much farther, a branch of the wholesaler Makro for a near-overwhelming choice of groceries and household goods.
Residents need not have any apprehensions about security staying at ESCENT Chiang Mai by virtue of the round-the-clock attendance of duly outfitted guards, CCTV installed throughout the premises, electronic keycard-controlled entry through either of the main gates and admittance into the condo building itself, three ‘floor-lock’ lifts (elevators), digital door locks and, for extra reassurance, an on-site juristic person. Not only will the development feature multi-storey car parking on floors 1 to 4 with a collective availability of approximately 40% but, as an exclusive privilege of living at ESCENT Chiang Mai, residents will also be entitled to complimentary VIP parking at CentralFestival mall. Sharing the first floor will be a brightly-lit, invitingly appointed and comfortably seated communal lobby beyond which residents can unwind and relax in the professionally landscaped lush “Stair Garden” or else in what promises to be a decadently presented and airy “Living Lounge”. In all common areas of the property, WiFi internet will almost certainly be provided free of charge. Although it won’t eclipse either of the Supalai Monte twin towers in the battle for ascendancy of the Chiang Mai skyline, the top two floors of the 26-storey ESCENT Chiang Mai are nevertheless sure to command positively breathtaking near 360 degree vistas overlooking the surrounding urban environment and mountainscapes from its glass-panelled wrap-around Sky Lounge set amid tropical greenery or rooftop “infinity-edge” open-air swimming pool, adjoining sun deck, sauna or fully-equipped fitness amenities.

Thailand Trekking
Our 3-day 2-night trek through the Thailand jungle
Safari World and Marine Park, 99, Panyaindra road, Khlong San Wa, Bangkok Thailand. ( 9 )
Khlong San Wa became a district on 21st November 1997, when it was detached from Min Buri. Previously it was a Amphoe within the district of Min Buri. My usual taxi driver suggested I try Safari World instead of Dusit Zoo which I wanted to video, he charged me 1200 Baht for the days journey, waiting in the car park while I wandered round the park. The main attraction in this district is this Safari World, which I visited on the 28th June 2014. This theme park began in 1988 on a 480 acre site for its open zoo and 180 acres for its bird park. It consists of two parks names Marine Park and Safari Park. A private company operates it called Safari World Public Company Limited.
This park consists of several attractions that need to be taken in order, to enjoy fully all the attractions of this park. Arriving at the ticket office the staff there were helpful in explaining what I needed to see first along with the prices for each area. However be warned, this is not a cheap day out, especially for Thailand. The main park was 1300 Baht for myself and 610 Baht for my Thai friend, then an additional payment for the river cruise of 360 Baht for myself and 180 Baht for my Thai friend, this was only after haggling for a cheaper ticket because they wanted 360 Baht each originally. Is it worth it? Well that depends on your view. I thought it was. However you do need to get there early to cover all the attractions.
The first attraction is the Safari Park, a 8 kilometres long drive by bus through the animal enclosure. This takes about 45 minutes to drive through this part of the park. The bus is boarded to the right of the ticket office. I was lucky the two front left hand seats are individual seats, and so the families did not want to sit on these. For me it was ideal for taking photos and videos. The entrance was a little drive away of about 5 minutes, where we came on the twin electric huge gates that help keep the animals from getting to the people.
This drive through covers all the animals within this part of the fenced and gated enclosure. Giraffes, Rhino, Elephants, Hippo’s, Antelopes, Deer, Camels, Bears,Tigers, Lions. I would add that the lions and tigers are in a separate gated enclosure. You are advised not to open the windows or to get out of your vehicle ( cars are allowed in also ) within this part of the Park. Who would want to get out at any part of this tour? They are wild animals after all. To them you’re just moving food.
The animals appeared to be well fed and well cared for, I didn’t see anything that gave me any concerns regarding welfare. The driver of the bus we were in, was thoughtfully stopping at various stops around, to enable people to take photos and videos. The first stop was the big bird enclosure along with Zebra scattered about. Then round to the Ostrich, Rhinoceros and Giraffes. Many Zoo’s now provide a feeding and viewing platform for Giraffes which means you are at eye level with these animals. The next part was where all the deer and antelope lived.
Arriving at the Tiger and Lion enclosure another set of gates was opened, I can see the need for these, if these should ever get out the free feed for them would take years to recover from the loss of animals in the main park area. Again you are advised not to open the windows here ( who would want to ). The tigers and lions were resting under trees to protect them from the mid day sun. Some were resting in what can only be described as big bathtubs made out of stone filled with water. It was very comical to see them like this - but smart animals.
The last exhibits were the bears, these had enclosures which they could wander around in and splash pools for cooling down in. Trees for shade, in one section a large cascading waterfall cooled the water down for the pools. Arriving then at the last set of electronic gates we emerged back to the outside world. The bus dropped us back at the start point and the next adventure began. Walking through the tree covered walkways into the main park area on the left was a vast collection of parrots. I have never seen so many all gathered together. None seemed to want to fly away when approached by the many people visiting the park.
Visiting Wat Saket (The Golden Mount Temple) on a Buddhist holiday in Bangkok Thailand
Given that it was a Buddhist holiday in Bangkok, Thailand, we decided to visit Wat Saket Temple (The Golden Mount Temple) as an afternoon outing. Initially our travel plans were to check out Wat Arun (also known as the Temple of Dawn); however, our queasy stomachs (after a bad episode of food poisoning) were suggesting we go somewhere a little closer. Without knowing at the time what we'd end up doing we got off at the final stop of our water taxi. As we exited, I pivoted and turned to my left noticing a temple not too far off in the distance.

Instantly, I remembered this was Wat Saket, also known as the Golden Mount Temple, a place I had visited several years ago. Immediately, we went from not having any plans to having an exciting option; one of the true joys of travel is just letting things spontaneously flow.
As we set off on foot to reach the base of the temple, we quickly realized this wasn't an ordinary day. A plethora of street vendors lined the curbside selling everything from grilled fish to cotton candy. Tuk-tuks, taxis and a sea of people were all making their way towards the temple. I couldn't help but think of how quiet this place was when I visited several years ago; instead of feeling annoyed by all of the hustle, bustle and commotion, I started to feed off of the energy while feeling excited.
As inched closer, a group of Thais were throwing coins into a large basin. Bang, plonk! Many of the coins didn't make it in as they ricocheted off the side of the basin. A little further on, a series of inanimate objects resembling the 12 Chinese zodiac signs lined the wall nearby the entrance of Wat Saket. Each animal had a small donation box where one could slip a coin into a small slot. My personal sign is the rooster / cock; as I reached in my pocket I found a 1 Baht coin to contribute. I'm hoping it'll bring me good luck ;)
I've never visited a temple on a religious holiday and as we started to make our way up the steps we inched ever so slowly given the crowds in front of us. Luckily, an artificial mist was being blown in our faces which helped cool us down.
A series of bells (I believe called Buddhist ghanta) were being rung by those passing by; naturally, we wanted to try doing this as well.
When we reached the top we were treated to breathtaking views of Bangkok. Although there would be better vantage points from atop high hotels in the downtown region, the views from Wat Saket offer some of my favorite in the entire city.
Finally we made our way back down. The experience of participating in a religious festival made us feel more like locals and less like tourists. Although, neither of us is Buddhist, we're both culture vultures; thus, having the opportunity to experience a special event like this was a real treat.
Wat Saket (Thai: วัดสระเกศราชวรมหาวิหาร) is a Buddhist temple that was originally built during the period when Ayutthaya was the capital of Thailand. The temple is now one of the more popular tourist attractions in Bangkok.

INDOCHINA: Rainy season
Travelling across Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, became the next stage of The World without Visas project, within which, Valery Shanin travels only around the countries, visa-free for Russians.
The travel begins in Bangkok. For the most banal reason. In this city, there is the largest airport of Indochina.
The Buddhism — the state religion of Thailand. The king is considered the head of all Thai Buddhists. And the most esteemed Buddhist relic — The Emerald Buddha - is stored in the territory of the Royal palace in the monastery of Wat Phrakeo. The entrance is opened for tourists. It is only necessary to observe a dress code — no shorts, t-shirts without sleeves and short skirts are allowed. Shoulders and knees should be covered.
Chao Phraya is a fine alternative to the streets of Bangkok, which are eternally loaded with busy transport. Down the river, river trams, tourist vessels, leisure boats and barges, scurry about.
Lopburi is called: The city of monkeys. Macaques occupy the ruins of Prang Sam Yot.
In the city of Phitsanulok, on the River Nan, is Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat, or simply Wat Yai. It houses a bronze Buddha statue - Buddha Chinnarat.
Chiang Mai — the capital of Northern Thailand, the city of monasteries and temples.
Buddha Phra Singh - a Buddhist relic of Thailand, the second in importance. It is always crowded in this temple. Pilgrims with flowers and offerings come here.
Luang Prabang was the capital of the kingdom of the same name.
After the victory of socialism, and the overthrow of the monarchy, the Royal Palace built by the French, was requisitioned. The National Museum was later opened in it.
The Tad Se Warerfall, is not a simple waterfall — it is one of many, a complex system of cascades and a channel. And all of that is overgrown with forest.
The Hoan Kyem Lake — the spiritual center of Hanoi. An ancient legend says that, once, a certain Le Loi was trying to fish here, and saw a huge turtle passing by, with a sword lying on its shell.
The majority of Vietnamese consider themselves Buddhists. But Buddhism here, is special. It is a mix of the classical Buddhism of Mahajana, with the cult of ancestors, Taoism and Confucianism.
Travelling across Indochina comes to an end, in the same place where it began, three weeks ago, in Bangkok.
