Shanghai city in china | Visit Shanghai video tour | Travel to Shanghai city
Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population[8][9] and the largest city proper by population in the world.[10] It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the People's Republic of China, with a population of more than 24 million as of 2013.[5] It is a global financial center,[11] and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port.[12] Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits at the mouth of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.[13] More info visit:

I stayed in Shanghai for quite a bit to bring you places like Flair, Yu Garden, French Concession, Pudong, Xintiandi, Shanghai Nightlife and how to cheat China's internet ban. Featuring all must-see locations!
Shanghai literally means 'on top of the sea' in Chinese and with 23 million people it is currently the biggest city in China. The map below has a list of all the best places in Shanghai of which some have a dedicated article and video.
Prices in Shanghai are very affordable, a large bowl of delicious noodles with braised pork and vegetables will cost you less than $2 thus you can comfortably live on $10 budget per day.
The skyline of Shanghai was shaped in less than 26 years, and even holds landmarks like the Jin Mao tower, World Financial Center and Shanghai Tower, world's second tallest building at 632 meters.
Watch the breathtaking view of Shanghai's business district (Pudong) while standing on the Bund, especially at night when all the neon lights come on. For a great observatory view I recommend Flair restaurant on top of the Ritz-Carlton which is FREE to enter.
My favorite way to explore Shanghai was during my daily jogs. I recommend starting on Nanjing Road and make your way to People's Park, especially during the weekend since you may find yourself running into the Shanghai Wedding Market. At which Parents of unmarried adults go to the park every weekend, from noon to 5pm, to trade information on their kids.
China, being a communist country, I've never seen such a large gap between rich and poor. This was one of the last places, after North-Korea, where I would expect to see such a huge income gap.
Senior ladies were selling vegetables on the sidewalk while rich teenagers parked their Lamborghini's next door, quite the eye-opener.
I made a few Chinese friends during my stay in Shanghai, we all went for duck feet dinner on Nanjing Road and a few drinks at Sir Elly's on top of the Peninsula hotel which honestly is the most incredible rooftop bar in Shanghai. A must-see if you ever decide to visit Shanghai!
Shanghai has a strong French influence which you can explore at the French Concession area in the Xintiandi district, one of the most luxury areas of the city. Surprisingly,
I visited Shanghai during fashion week and Octoberfest, if there is on time to go it is visiting Shanghai around this time due to all the events being thrown around the city.
Now my most important tip is ExpressVPN, China has a very strict internet policy, because they cannot control information on Google, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, thus they decided to ban it altogether.
The ExpressVPN app has a 30-day free trial and allows you to establish a secure private connection with an offshore server so you can still access the apps and sites you want while staying in China.
This is extremely helpful if you relay on Google Maps to navigate you around, even without - don't be discouraged to visit Shanghai, it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had. Have a safe journey!

Confusion over China’s new waste management driving Shanghai people crazy
Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here:
Shanghai is the first Chinese city to implement an ambitious nationwide trash sorting and recycling programme, but residents have been struggling to shift over to the new system since it started on July 1, 2019.
There is a tremendous volume of waste generated by more than 1.3 billion people who live in China, which is ranked as the world’s second-biggest producer of trash after the United States.
People who fail to follow the new rules in Shanghai already face hefty fines and a possible lowering of their social credit scores.

To my surprise, the music was awesome at most venues.
Before you go out make sure to install the ExpressVPN app, otherwise you'll not be able to use Google Maps, which is a necessarity if you get lost or cannot find the venue.
I got lost many times looking for particular clubs. China bans Google, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter & Instagram. So for communication with the locals install WeChat, which is the WhatsApp of China.
Start off your night at Sir Elly's on top of the Peninsula Hotel, this bar has the most mesmerizing view of Shanghai (Pudong business district), than head over a few blocks down the Bund for Bar Rouge.
Bar Rouge is the most popular bar in Shanghai where you can meet expats and many English speaking locals, make sure to go on Thursday for Ladies Night!
A little further down the Bund you'll find club M1NT, this amazing club on the 24th floor of an office building, has a massive shark aquarium in their hallway and often themed events.
Entrance is free that's why drinks start at $20, so make sure to pre-drink or come with a thick stack of bills.
A 10 minute cab ride from the Bund you'll are Fusion Nightclub in the French Concession, here you'll find a young often foreign crowd jamming to house & EDM. This place wasn't my cup-of-tea.
Than there is Linx Nightclub near People's Park, a super upscale club with many expensive cars parked up-front. The club was rammed with models and douchebags, although music was good.
Again Linx had free entrance as well with drinks starting at $20
Two other places worth mentioning is NEST, a lounge bar for great dining and predrinking with friends before you start your night and club MUSE across the street from NEST, MUSE actually really surprised me, this place had incredible DJ's, so make sure to check it out when you are in the area.
Luckily cab rides start at 18 yuan ($4) which usually covers the cost getting from club to club. If you don't speak Mandarin, make sure you have your hotel address written down so the cab driver knows where to take your drunk ass.
All-in-all, the Shanghai nightlife is pretty amazing and definitely worth checking out when stopping by in Shanghai.

Chinese street food and Chinese Food in China is incredibly delicious! So I flew to Shanghai, China and have been eating street food, noodles, and dumplings non-stop. Best Street Food to try! The Chinese food is so good in Shanghai! I've eaten street food in Bejing, street food in Chengdu, street food in Xi’an, street food in Guangzhou, and now, street food in Shanghai. A lot of the street food in Shanghai is similar to other street food in China. You can find some unique Shanghai street food specialties here, like xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), shengjianbao (pan fried dumplings), seafood on the street, and some delicious noodles as well. You can also enjoy countless other street foods in Shanghai, many featured in this video.

MUST TRY DUMPLINGS | First Time in SHANGHAI
This was our FIRST night in Shanghai, China and we tried 2 popular dumpling restaurants - MUST TRY these dumplings!
We flew into Shanghai from Macau taking advantage of the China Transit-Visa Exemption. Certain foreign passports may be eligible to spend up to 144 hrs (6 days) in China without a Visa as long as the stay is considered a ‘transit’. Example in our case it was Macau to Shanghai and back to Hong Kong. If you are interested in this, always double check beforehand if you’ll be eligible. This site explains it well
Make sure that you print out documents to show immigration that you have a proof of an onward journey (i.e. plane ticket within the 144 hr window) as well printed booking of your accomodation in China. Let us know if you have any further questions.
Upon arriving into Shanghai, we took the subway into Shanghai city to an area called People’s Square which is where our accomodation was. We stayed at a place called the Guxiang Hotel (formerly known as Howard Johnson Plaza).
Our first taste of Shanghai was in a popular food chain called Yang’s Dumpling. They’re famous for their Shengjianbao which are pan-fried pork buns. It was super delicious! We then explored close by around People’s Square and also Nanjing Rd, the main shopping street of Shanghai.
After exploring and taking in all the lights, hustle and bustle of Shanghai we found ourselves at Jia Jia Tang Bao - a popular restuarant known for their Xiao Long Bao or Soup Dumplings. It was extremely busy and the lines stretched across the road but it was worth the wait. Many, many tasty XLB were devoured here.
We also had the chance to participate in ‘Square Dancing’ which is an exercise routine performed to music in plazas or parks. It was fun and the locals were very welcoming for us to join in. Hopefully we burnt off some of those dumplings haha
We ended our night with some desserts at KFC. Everything was rather new to us because we don’t really get these kind of desserts at KFC back at home in Australia.
