Xi'an Ancient Wall/Lacquer Factory-Xi'an, China (Private Tour + Historical Facts)
The Xi'an City Wall is the most well-preserved and intact part of the Chinese ancient city walls. It is also one of the largest and most intact ancient city wall structures in the world. Originally built in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), it's purpose was military fortification. The wall is 40 feet tall and runs for 8.5 miles.
Lacquer is a natural substance obtained from the lacquer tree. Raw lacquer, the sap of the tree, hardens after contact with the air. Lacquer trees take 3-5 years to mature to the point where they can be tapped for their sap. The tree is indigenous to China, and that is why China leads the world in lacquer resources.

Terra Cotta Warriors-Xi'an China (Private Tour + Historical Facts)
I received a private tour of one of the greatest archeological finds in world history. In 1974, farmers were searching for water in Xi'an, China when they found clay fragments and ancient weapons. Extensive digging by the Chinese government revealed the fragments of 8,000 clay figures built over 2,000 years ago. They were a terra-cotta army that was built to protect the first Chinese emperor in the afterlife. Each warrior, which stands 6 feet tall and weighs 600 pounds, had to be restored and reconstructed individually, which could take several months. No two faces are alike.

ALL OF THE THINGS TO DO IN THIS VIDEO:
Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (or Big Wild Goose Pagoda) - 1:00
A Buddhist pagoda built in 652 during the Tang dynasty. The surrounding parks are a great place to explore, with lots of very freaky looking statues around the trees. There is also a really good musical fountain show (the largest in Asia) that plays twice every evening in the summer. Best of all, it is absolutely free to enter!
Muslim Street - 1:40
The main food street area is known as Huimin Street or Muslim Quarter has a lot of great food (probably not the most vegetarian friendly though)
Tourist Bus to the Terracotta Warriors - 1:50
Don't bother with an expensive taxi, getting to the Terracotta Warriors from Xi'an Railway Station is easy. There are constantly buses leaving from Line 5 just outside the main entrance. Look for Bus 306. It only costs 24 Yuan and the journey takes about an hour.
The Terracotta Warriors - 2:00
The entrance fee is 150 yuan, which is pretty justified for a genuine wonder of the world. In short, it is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, with the purpose of protecting him in his afterlife. A real must see!
Xi'an City Walls - 2:37
The fortifications of Xi'an, also known as Xi'an City Wall, are one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It was built under the rule of the Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang as a military defense system. You can cycle around them, walk or even take a short boat trip. It's a great way to explore the city if you are short on time. The entrance fee is 54 Yuan, which is not much for a minimum of a few hours worth of walking. Sunset here is awesome.
And that's it! I tried to keep this short and not overload it with too many options - it's a 24 hour travel guide after all! If you have ant questions, feel free to ask in the comments - I always reply!

Travel to China - Morning Exercise in Xian (Part 1)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
► Travel to China - 2019 - with Travelbay -
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
China is AMAZING – our customers love visiting and so do we. You can walk on the Great Wall, see Pandas in Chengdu, meet the Terracotta Warriors in Xian, cruise the Yangtze River…there are so many wonderful and fabulous things to do that it’s hard to fit it all into one holiday. That’s ok - you can always go back for another one, and it’s highly likely that after one visit you will want to!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is one of our favourite videos. Nikki and I (Nicola) took it on our recent visit to China.
In Asia it is really common for people to go to the park and do their morning exercises together. Here in the local square in Xian, you can see everyone doing their own thing, having fun and respecting each other. There is something happening in every direction you look.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a lot of fun travelling and putting together short videos to share our experiences, observations and tips.
For us travel (and everything) is all about people and our favourite way to travel is either by private tour or small group tours.
Travelbay is an Australia based online travel company run by Nikki and Nicola who feature in a lot of the videos.

The Terracotta Warriors in Xian, China are an incredible sight. Hundreds of life sized warriors (no one warrior is the same) made from terracotta that were buried with an Emperor to protect him in the afterlife. We (Nikki and Nicola) loved our visit here in July 2017 and found it very fascinating. We made this short video where our gorgeous tour guide Xing Ding Yin explains the formation of the army.
