STREETFOOD IN KOBE'S CHINATOWN + KOBE HARBOUR | JAPAN TRAVEL VLOG
We are finally going to another city which is Kobe. Kobe is the nearest city to Osaka and it is also located along the Harbour. It may not be a very big city but they are well known for their Kobe beef. That was one of the reasons why we wanted to go there.
Our first stop in Kobe was Chinatown. Our hotel was just a short walk from it the streets line up with food vendors selling very good streetfood. Although a lot of them are cold because it is winter time and they do not store everything in heated containers.
At night, we ventured and walked to the harbour of Kobe and was able to reach Mosaic, a small shopping and dining district by the bay. They have a huge ferris wheel and I am pretty sure it would be a sight to see when you ride that. You can see the Kobe Port Tower and other well-lit buildings from that area.

Nankinmachi Kobe Chinatown - A 4K Walkthrough ???? 南京町 神戸 ???? Japan As It Truly Is
Nankinmachi or the Kobe Chinatown is one of Japan's biggest. Discover a whole new side to Japan you've never seen before.
Nankinmachi (南京町), like its counterparts in Yokohama and Nagasaki, specialize in restaurants, but you will also find some gift shops and grocery markets. And as in Yokohama you'll often find a restaurant owner holding a menu in front of their place calling to you and inviting you to eat there.
Nankinmachi was first established in 1868 as Japan opened its ports to the world. It's had its share of misfortune as it was flattened during the war with bombs, as well as taking a severe hit in the 1995 Kobe earthquake. Today, it thrives with over a hundred businesses and is a great spot for Kobe sightseeing.

KOBE CHINATOWN STREET FOOD TOUR AND CHINESE NEW YEAR
We visited Kobe Chinatown to eat street food and see what they were doing to celebrate Chinese New Year. Chinatown AKA Nankin-machi is only one of three major Chinatowns in Japan. It's located near JR Motomachi station in Kobe. Since Kobe is only 30 minutes from Osaka, it's the perfect day trip.

► Nankinmachi is a compact chinatown in central Kobe, established in 1868, and the center of the Chinese community in the Kansai Region, and although much smaller than its counterpart in Yokohama, this one is much better in every way - better food, service much friendlier, compared to the often rude staff in Yokohama Chinatown.
If you like good Chinese food, there's no better place to go than here, no matter if your dish of choice is Peking Duck, Char Sui or Dim Sum or perhaps a little bit of everything.

CHEAP Kobe Beef Donburi and Where to Find it! (in Kobe, Japan)
Watch a journey from a little Airbnb home to Saiin station by bike, with a train ride down to Kobe, Japan to have affordable Kobe beef in Nankinmachi (Chinatown), a ride on the Rokkoliner, a trip to Sakura-masamune sake museum, and a view from Kobe Tower to cap out the night.
Obviously known quite fondly for its beef, Kobe, Japan has a huge amount of beef restaurants to capitalize on its fame. With so many to choose from, what's really the best? My name is Bill Kearney, founder of LightShift Video, and I'm deciding to skip the fancy settings and flair and find the best cut of kobe beef I can find without breaking the bank, or paying for unnecessary glamour.
Believe it or not, the place that suited me the best was Kobe's Chinatown, known as Nankin-machi, near Motomachi station. If you want the fine dining places, they have a few nearby, but what really stood out for me was a well advertised, but affordable Kobe beef street stand right in the heart of Nankin-machi. This little place has an entry level 60 gram Kobe option at 1000 Yen (~$9), a red meat 80 gram Kobe cut at 1500 Yen (~$13.50), and a premium all out slice of Kobe cattle at 4500 Yen! (~$40.56) Due to the slightly bigger size and presumed quality, I went for the 1500 Yen slice. Save the Premium Kobe for people with money to burn. Can it really be THAT much better?
After a great meal, you might as well explore the city a bit since you made the trek. Hit the regular trains for a while and you'll come across an unusual sign and symbol, known as the Rokkoliner. What is this unique train anyway? As soon as you get on, you'll realize it seems to have a rather open view on the front. Yep, you guessed it, this is an automated rail. There's no one driving this thing! Get good views of the Kobe area and head to the harbor area where we'll walk up the street a ways to find the Sakura-masamune sake brewery and museum.
It was rather quiet at the museum and if you want to check out a place that isn't crowded with tourists, you may enjoy this lesser known gem. If you are curious about the history of sake making, you'll see plenty of old artifacts here, but don't miss the true diamond in the rough, which is a little restaurant/bar hidden behind the museum. With friendly staff and a TON of great sake to try out, you'll be glad you stumbled across this place.
I tried the Junmai-shu which is a dry sake, and from what I've heard before, if you have a dry pallet for wine, you'll prefer a drier sake, especially if it's a little hot. Fried octopus and a small cheese dish are some of the many appetizers you can get here, or you can go into the restaurant for a dining experience. If finding a quiet place to drink sake and learn about the history of sake making is in your agenda, swing on by here.
It's getting dark and one important landmark of Kobe is Kobe Tower, which is a must see if you are just coming by here for the first time. Open until 9pm, you'll get sweeping views of Kobe from this tower with multiple observatory levels to check out the city.
Well it was a good day trip to Kobe and time to head back to Kyoto. When you get back, don't forget your bike!

THE BEST OF KOBE - Chinatown, Kobe Port, Mt Maya | Backpacking Japan Vlog 3
Kobe City is not far from Osaka and Kyoto but it is less visited than these Cities but I loved it and I'm so glad I visited.
I had 2 days to see as many things to do in Kobe as I could. I started off on a walking tour around Nada neighbourhood with my Hostel - Maya Guesthouse. Then I headed into Downtown Kobe to Nunobiki Waterfalls just behind Shin Kobe Station and then to Chinatown which has lots of nice street food and I sampled the Sesame Balls and a Sweet Piggy Dumpling!
I walked the 10 minutes to Kobe Harbour Port where I could see the Kobe Port Tower, BE KOBE Sign, the Ferris Wheel and loads of interesting buildings.
To hide from the rain I headed into Kobe Harbourland and the Mosaic Building which is full of restaurants. Once the rain cleared I saw a great sunset in Kobe Harbour.
Kobe is sandwiched between the Ocean and Mountains so the next day I took the Cable Car and Ropeway up to Mount Maya to see an amazing view over Kobe.
This is a popular place to visit in Kobe at night-time too to see the City and a lot of Kansai all lit up!

In this video, I walked through Kobe's Chinatown known as Nankinmachi. Adjacent to it is the Motomachi Shopping Street, a mile long covered shopping street. About 1 km walk, I reached the Meriken Park, a waterfront park located in Kobe port area. Here you can find the famous Kobe Port Tower and the Kobe Maritime Museum.

Kobe Nankinmachi is one of the three largest Chinatowns in Japan, along with Yokohama and Nagasaki, and has about 100 stores in a range of about 200m east-west and 110m north-south.
Chuo-dori is a crossroad, and there is a gate named Azumaya in the center square, Choanmon in the east, Seianmon in the west, Kaieimon in the south, and Motomachi Shoppping street in the north. It is connected to the street.

Nankin-machi (Japanese for Nanjing town) (Japanese: 南京町; Simplified Chinese: 南京町) is a neighborhood in Kobe, Japan located south of Motomachi station adjacent to the Daimaru Department Store and is a major tourist attraction. Considered as Kobe's Chinatown, the area has over a hundred Chinese restaurants, shops, and a Chinese temple dedicated to Guan Yu (関帝廟, Kanteibyō).
Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi, Japanese: [koːꜜbe]) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bay and about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Keihanshin metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto.
The earliest written records regarding the region come from the Nihon Shoki, which describes the founding of the Ikuta Shrine by Empress Jingū in AD 201. For most of its history, the area was never a single political entity, even during the Tokugawa period, when the port was controlled directly by the Tokugawa shogunate. Kobe did not exist in its current form until its founding in 1889. Its name comes from kanbe (神戸, an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine). Kobe became one of Japan's designated cities in 1956.
Kobe was one of the cities to open for trade with the West following the 1853 end of the policy of seclusion and has since been known as a cosmopolitan and nuclear-free zone port city. While the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake diminished much of Kobe's prominence as a port city, it remains Japan's fourth-busiest container port. Companies headquartered in Kobe include ASICS, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Kobe Steel, as well as over 100 international corporations with Asian or Japanese headquarters in the city, such as Eli Lilly and Company, Procter & Gamble, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Nestlé. The city is the point of origin and namesake of Kobe beef, as well as the site of one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, Arima Onsen.

Nankinmachi is a compact chinatown in central Kobe and a center of the Chinese community in the Kansai Region. The area was developed by Chinese merchants who settled near Kobe Port after the port was opened to foreign trade in 1868. As the chinatown developed, it became known as Nankinmachi after Nanjing, the former Chinese capital. Nankinmachi is a popular tourist attraction and shopping and dining district.
Arima Onsen (有馬温泉) is a famous hot spring town within the city limits of Kobe, but on the opposite side of Mount Rokko from the city center. The town lies in a natural mountain setting, yet is close enough for Kobe and Osaka residents as an easy and popular day trip or weekend getaway.
