Hells of Beppu : Chinoike Jigoku - Oita - 血の池地獄 - 4K Ultra HD
Also known as the “Blood Pond” Chinoike Jigoku is, for us, the second most interesting Hell of Beppu. Located in the Shibaseki District and rather far away from the crowd, Chinoike is the oldest of its kind in the entire country. Chinoike also epitomizes the Japanese people’s image of purgatory with its bloody-red pond boiling in high heat that even discharges reddish fumarolic gases as it evaporates.
Finally, a popular souvenir item is sold at Chinoike, Chinoike Ointment. A red clay ointment produced from the hell, and said to have medical benefits for eczema, burns, and other types of skin disorders.

AMAZING BEPPU HELLS Japanese Hot Springs Tour
Going to hell in Beppu! Tour of the Hells of Beppu: amazing Japanese hot springs with boiling water, a red lake, 100°C geyser, mud bubbles and more.
SUBSCRIBE for more Japan vlogs and ideas for things to do in Kyushu.
We went on a day trip from Fukuoka to Beppu on the Sonic Limited Express train (about 2 hours). From Beppu Station you can take the bus to the first 5 hells in the Kannawa district, then another bus to the final 2 hells. The hells we visited are: Umi Jigoku, Oniishibozu Jigoku, Kamado Jigoku, Oniyama Jigoku, Shiraike Jigoku, Chinoike Jigoku and Tatsumaki Jigoku. They're all natural hot springs, the same type as found in Japanese onsen. They really are so strange and unusual, and this was the highlight of my time in Kyushu.

Chinoike Jigoku, Blood Hell Hot Spring in Beppu
This is one of the 6 hell springs in Beppu. It is too hot to swim in and will boil your skin off. It is a nice spring; however, it cost 400 yen to see. My biggest complaint is that it cost 400 yen to walk through a gift shop that is larger than the spring itself to just see the thing. It's a natural spring, so it should be free. Each hell spring cost 400 yen, but there is a 2000 yen all spring pass.

Exploring Onsen (Hot Spring) HELL|Day 90 - Oita
The hells (地獄, jigoku) of Beppu are eight spectacular hot springs for viewing rather than bathing. They are presented to visitors in a rather touristy fashion, which might not appeal to everybody. Six of the hells are located in the Kannawa district and two in the more remote Shibaseki district.
Umi Jigoku
One of the more beautiful hells, the sea hell features a pond of boiling, blue water. In its spacious gardens, there are a few secondary, orange colored hells and a large, clear water pond with lotus flowers whose large leaves are strong enough to carry small children.
Oniishibozu Jigoku
This hell is named after the mud bubbles, which emerge from boiling mud pools and look like the shaven heads of monks. Besides the mud pools, it features a foot bath with clear water. Adjacent to the hell is a public bath with multiple pools that costs an additional 600 yen.
Shiraike Jigoku
True to its name, the white pond hell features a pond of hot, milky water. The pond is surrounded by a nice garden and a small, run-down aquarium that has seen better days.
Kamado Jigoku
The cooking pot hell features several boiling ponds and a flashy demon statue as cook. On the grounds, visitors can drink the hot spring water, enjoy hand and foot baths, inhale the hot spring steam and try various snacks cooked or steamed by the hot spring.
Oniyama Jigoku
A large number of crocodiles are bred and kept on the grounds of the monster mountain hell.
Yama Jigoku
The mountain hell features small ponds of steaming hot water and a run-down zoo with large animals in small cages.
Chinoike Jigoku
The blood pond hell features a pond of hot, red water and a large souvenir shop. It is one of the more photogenic of the eight hells.
Tatsumaki Jigoku
The spout hell features a boiling hot geyser, which erupts every 30-40 minutes for about 6-10 minutes. A stone plate above the geyser hinders it to reach its full height. A short walking trail leads up the forested slope in the back of the hell grounds.

Adeyto ♨️????️ JIGOKU MUSHI KOBO Experience Steam Cooking Hell BEPPU Oita Kyushu ????️ HUAWEI P20 PRO
Actually it was way more delicious than I thought, would want to have this at home! And you don't really do much yourself????♨️
It is a cooking method using high temperature steam heat spouted from hot spring, and has been used in Beppu since the Edo period. Put the food on the side, put it in a cauldron where about 100 degrees of steam called Hell steaming pot spouts, and just put a lid.
Because the steam is steamed at once in the hot spring steam that contains salt, the original taste of the food is trapped.
Beppu Tetsuwa Onsen, which uses a hot spring fume of 98% Celsius and 100% geothermal energy, is a facility where you can experience the traditional cooking method “Hell steamed dishes” used from the Edo period.
In addition, the hot spring cooling system monument Yureidaki and Drinking center, and the adjacent pocket park foot steaming and footbath which can be used by wheelchair users are also available.
Blood Pond Hell (Chino-Ike-jigoKu) in Beppu, Japan
Here's a look at the Chino-Ike-jigoKu (Blood Pond Hell) in Beppu, Kyushu, Japan. The hot springs take on the color red due to the mineral content of the area. The air smells of sulfur! Video taken by me on Aug. 19, 2016.
