Церковь Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы в Филях — православный храм Георгиевского благочиния Московской городской епархии. Храм расположен в районе Филёвский Парк, Западного административного округа города Москвы (Новозаводская улица, д. 6).
Здание архитектурно относится к распространённому в конце XVII века типу ярусных центрических церквей, образец раннего московского барокко.
Нынешнее здание храма («восьмерик на четверике») возведено в 1690—1694 годах на средства Л. К. Нарышкина (дядя Петра I). Ранее стоявший здесь одноимённый деревянный храм был сооружён в 1619 году, когда село принадлежало Милославским, в ознаменование победы над войсками польского королевича Владислава и гетмана Сагайдачного под стенами Белого Города.
«Восьмерик на четверике» — тип архитектурной композиции церковного здания: верхний объём октагональной конфигурации («восьмерик») поставлен на четверик (как правило, более низкий).
Изначально это архитектурное решение получило распространение в русском деревянном храмовом зодчестве. В конце XVII века прочно вошло в арсенал приёмов московского барокко. Сочетание контрастных форм придаёт храму устремлённость ввысь (динамизм — характерная черта стиля барокко).
Церкви этого типа продолжали возводиться в российской провинции вплоть до конца XVIII века.

Russian culture is an hybrid generated from habits of many civilizations that shaped this great multicultural state, and it is the result of its development for several centuries, being deeply rooted in the culture of the first eastern slavs.
The Late Muscovite Period goes from 1630 to 1712. After the Period of Troubles, the church and state were in bankrupt, and they couldn't pay more constructions.
The rich merchants of Yaroslavl financed many cathedrals in XVII century, with many bulbous domes and tended roof.
Elijah the Prophet, Yaroslavl: the first churches were asymmetric, like this. It follows the tradition of Middle Muscovite Period. The interior has frescoes of byzantine influence. They were commissioned by Ulita Makarova in 1680, and were painted by a team of 15 people leaded by Guriy Nikitin and Sila Savin. They represent scenes of the life of Elijah and also normal life scenes.
St. John Chrysostom, Korovniki: it follows the aesthetic of the previous one but greater. The bulbous domes are very big compared with the own building.
St. John the Baptist, Yaroslavl: it is the best of all these churches, and the most beautiful. It has fifteen domes. The belltower was built later, in mid-1690. The interior has more than five hundred frescoes about christian saints, St. John the Baptist and biblical themes. They were painted by Dmitri Pleyanov and Fiodor Ignatiev in 1694-1695.
The churches of Moscow of XVII century are very well decorated, but they are more little.
Ascension of Uglich: I'm not even sure if the image I put is of this church to be honest...
Hodegetria, Vyazma: one of the most beautiful buildings. It has three tended roofs, similar to candles. It is called so by Virgin Theotokos Hodegetria, the Virgin that guides saying that the Child is the path to salvation.
Nativity, Putinki: many tended roofs, following the aesthetic of the one of Vyazma.
The Patriarch Nikon said that tended roof constructions were not byzantine-typical, and so he declared them anti-canonical. The tended roofs were forbidden.
Voskresensky Monastery: this is the residence of Nikon. It is also called New Jerusalem Monastery or Resurrection cathedral. Byzantine forms are recuperated.
When the tended roofs were forbidden, the muscovite architects used bracket arches, called kokoshniki.
Kazan cathedral, Moscow: do not confuse with the one in St. Petersburg. It is in the Red Square. It is a reconstruction, because Stalin destroyed it in 1936.

Great Cross, Kitai-gorod: this one was destroyed by Stalin and was lost.
Russian architecture became purely decorative, influenced by ukrainian and polish baroque. The first russian baroque churches were little chapels built in zones of family Naryshkin, near Moscow, so the name of Naryshkin baroque is frequently used in this style. Some of these churches are similar to towers, with cubic or ortogonal floors.
Protection of the Theotokos, Fili: composition similar to a stair, with belltower.
Ascension, Pokrovka: it seems more like a jewelry work than a building.
The Stroganov patronized many baroque buildings.
Nativity, Nizhny
At beginning XVIII century it is interesting to name the wooden churches in the north of Russia.
Intercession, Vytegra: it has 24 domes.
Kizhi Pogost: the legend says that the carpenter Nestor only used one axe, that when the building was done, he threw it into the lake Onega while he said there wasn't and won't be other church like this. The most important building of this complex is the Transfiguration church, with 22 domes. Near it is the Intercession church, with 9 domes. The amazing thing of these constructions is that they were built without any nail.

Accompanying photographs of the Church of the Protection of the Theotokos in Fili, Moscow. The church was constructed between 1689 and 1694 in the shape of a Greek Cross. Actually the building contains two churches: a winter Intercession church in the basement and a summer, unheated church of the Saviour, above. The church was damaged by French troops in 1812 and suffered severely from both the ravages of the Revolution, when the interior was looted, and the Great Patriotic War. By 1945, all the domes, crosses and the upper octagonal layer, were lost. The whole structure was restored between 1955-1980.

In April 1916 the Direction of the Russian-Baltic joint stock company pur-chased a large ground area at the outskirts of Moscow not far from the Intercession church in Fili and commenced building of a large plant, which, in 1917, was called the Second Russo-Balt automobile plant. Five years later, in 1922, the plant produced the first five Russian automobiles of Russo-Balt brand.
On January 23,1923 it was decided to transfer the plant by a concessive agree-ment for 30 years to the German aircraft building company Junkers. The plant was to produce all-metal aircrafts and their engines. So the production of Ju-20 and Ju-21 airplanes began. Between 1923 and 1925 the plant produced fifty Ju-20 air-crafts and one hundred Ju-21 aircrafts.
The production of Soviet aviation technologies began in the mid 1920s. The ideas of the aircraft designer, A. N. Tupolev, began to be effected.
In 1927 the first Soviet а ll-metal airplane Р -3 ( АНТ -3) was manufactured at the plant in Fili. The R-3 (ANT-3) was the first mass pro-duced Soviet all-metal aircraft to give good flight-technical characteristics during tests. It became world famous. The ANT-3 aircraft was used for a long time by the Military Air Forces and was produced as a spy plane, a low-flying attack aircraft and as a mail plane.

Короткое слово «Кижи» известно не только в нашей стране. К одному из 1650 островов Онежского озера каждое лето причаливают сотни теплоходов с туристами со всех концов света, чтобы увидеть единственную в мире двадцатидвухглавую деревянную Преображенскую церковь, ее архитектурное эхо — Покровскую церковь — и объединяющую два храма в слаженный ансамбль колокольню.
Название острова созвучно карельскому слову «кижат», что означает «игрища». Археологи считают, что в далекой древности люди собирались на острове для проведения языческих обрядов. Позже на пологом удобном острове возникло поселение. В XVI веке остров Кижи стал центром Спасского погоста. В наше время погостом называют кладбище, а давным-давно на Русском Севере этим словом обозначали сельский округ, в главном селе которого строили церковь. Так в Кижах появились две церкви: Преображенская и Покровская. Когда молния ударила в здание старой Преображенской церкви, сельский сход постановил выстроить новую, какой еще люди не видывали. Двадцать два купола Преображенской церкви вознеслись в северное небо в 1714 году. Десять лет работали простые русские плотники в Кижах. Легенда называет имя только одного из мастеров — Нестора, который закончил работу и закинул топор в Онежское озеро со словами: «Не было такой никогда и не будет более!»
Храм Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы в Филях
Храм Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы возведен в 1690-1694 г.г. на средства Л.К.Нарышкина в благодарность за чудесное спасение во время Стрелецкого бунта. Два брата Льва Кирилловича были убиты стрельцами. Петр I посещал этот храм и даже пел в церковном хоре.
