Multiple people have been killed in an active shooting on Saturday in a shopping area in El Paso in U.S. state of Texas.

Hybrid Mall- Bassett Place- El Paso
On the East side of the Mountain on I-10. Target, Kohl’s , Dave and Busters, Theatre and Costco are Anchors which are untraditional Anchors making this a Hybrid Mall. This small Mall is not as successful as Cielo Vista Mall. This gets my Ranking of Fair to Healthy due to having all it’s Anchors; however I’m surprised with a decent Vacancy rate because there is not much signage indicating this is a Mall and the Mall entries are sub par.

Witness: A kid ran inside a store to warn us of the shooting, but no one paid attention
Spc. Glendon Oakly said he was at a sporting goods store inside the Cielo Vista Mall when a child ran inside telling us there's an active shooter at Walmart.
Oakly told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that no one took the child seriously because of his age and because he was talking about the Walmart nearby, not the mall where they were.
About five to seven minutes later, Oakly said he walked to Footlocker and heard two gunshots.
I just thought about getting the kids out of the way, he said.
Oakly said Footlocker closed the cage, but some people got it open. He saw many children running around without their parents, so he picked up three kids and ran as fast as he could.
I wasn't worried about myself, he said. I was just trying to get those kids out of there.

Multiple people shot and killed at El Paso Walmart, 1 suspect under arrest, authorities say
Authorities warned of an active shooting.
Multiple people were shot and killed at a Walmart and nearby mall in El Paso on Saturday afternoon, sending shoppers racing for cover in a chaotic scene that prompted a massive police and medical response, local authorities and government officials said.
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick told Fox News that a 21-year-old man is in custody in the shooting, which unfolded in the area of Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso. KTSM, a local NBC affiliate, reported that at least 18 people were dead.
Area hospitals said they were treating 22 victims.
Local authorities said around 3 p.m. Eastern time that there were was no longer an active threat. There was conflicting information about the number of suspects. While police said one suspect was in custody, El Paso’s mayor said at one point that there were three.
“I can only say that we have one suspect in custody right now,” a police spokesman told reporters.
President Trump tweeted that the “reports are very bad, many killed,” adding that he had spoken to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to “pledge total support of Federal Government.”
A little while later, ATF’s office in Dallas tweeted that it was sending agents to assist in the investigation.
City police said the shooting began about 10 a.m. local time and quickly warned that people should avoid the area of Hawkins and Gateway East boulevards. The department said in another tweet at 10:09 a.m. that the shooter remained active.
The shooting apparently began outside the Walmart.
Vanessa Saenz, a 37-year-old El Paso resident, was turning into the Walmart parking lot, with her mother and son, to buy the family’s weekly groceries when she heard a few pops that sounded like fireworks.
She looked over and saw a man who seemed to be “dancing” in the air — and then she noticed a woman sprinting.
Saenz realized that the man had been shot and that these were no fireworks.
“My mom yelled, ‘Just go! Speed and just go!’ but of course there were people trying to dodge the bullets and running through the parking lot,” Saenz said in an interview with The Post.
She also caught a glimpse of the shooter, who she said was wearing dark cargo pants, a black T-shirt, and some sort of earmuffs. He was around 5-foot-10-inches tall, thin and carrying a rifle, she said.
He was just “shooting randomly,” Saenz said, and then he walked into the store and she lost sight of him.
Inside the Walmart, shoppers and employees raced to exit the store or even hide in shelves. Witnesses said Good Samaritans used their own cars to transport victims to hospitals.
The Post could not immediately reach El Paso police for more information.
CBS reported that a witness, Ray Holgin, heard at least 10 gunshots and saw at least two people with guns. He told CBS that he watched an elderly woman fall but was not sure if she had been shot.
Abbott wrote on Twitter that the state’s Department of Public Safety is helping law enforcement and federal officials “to bring this tragedy to the swiftest & safest possible conclusion.
In El Paso, the Texas Dept. of Public Safety is assisting local law enforcement & federal authorities to bring this tragedy to the swiftest & safest possible conclusion.
We thank all First Responders for their courageous response & urge all area residents to remain safe.

Walmart shooting kills 22 in El Paso Texas gun attack
At least 22 people have been killed in the latest mass shooting in the United States, the BBC's partner network CBS News says.
The massacre happened at a Walmart store near the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas, a few miles from the US-Mexico border.
In this photo you see the breakdown in tears as affected by the shooting. Kianna Long, right, was in the freezer section of the Walmart during the shooting.
At least 26 people, including children, are being treated at local hospitals.
A young white man is in custody and is believed to be the sole shooter, police say.
He has been named by US media as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, a resident of the Dallas area.
CCTV images said to be of the gunman and circulated on US media show a man in a dark T-shirt wearing ear protectors and brandishing an assault-style rifle.
What happened?
The first reports of a shooting emerged at about 10:00 local time (16:00 GMT).
Police said the Walmart was at capacity with shoppers buying back-to-school supplies at the time of the attack.
Police spokesman Sergeant Robert Gomez said the suspect was a white male in his 20s.
No officers had fired their weapons in apprehending him, he added.
A man who was in the shopping centre at the time of the attack recalled the moment that he found out about the shooting.
There were employees, they were coming in and they would tell me that they heard some gunshots and that people just started bolting straight into the store in order to get to cover. In the meantime I was just trying to stay calm, but I was freaking out internally, he told CBS News.
Another witness, Glendon Oakly, told CNN that he was in a sporting goods store inside the shopping centre when a child ran inside telling us there's an active shooter at Walmart.
Mr Oakly said no-one took the child's report seriously, but just minutes later he heard two gunshots.
I just thought about getting the kids out of the way, he said.
Police said the area had been secured. A family reunification area had been set up nearby for those searching for loved ones.
El Paso Police Department tweeted that blood donations were needed urgently.
EL PASO POLICE DEPT twitted: Blood needed urgently. Multiple injured transported to various hospitals. Blood donation centers Vitalent Blood Services at 424 s Mesa Hills and 133 N Zaragoza.
Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke has abandoned a campaign event in Las Vegas to return to his home town of El Paso.
Earlier, he spoke at a labour forum, telling the crowd the shooting shattered any illusion that gun reform will come of its own accord in the US.
We know that there's a lot of injury, a lot of suffering in El Paso right now, he said.
Other Democratic presidential candidates also responded to the shooting with calls for gun control.
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker was among them, saying the US seems to be accepting the idea that these [shootings] are going to be a regular occurrence.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, however, said gun control would probably not have stopped the attack.
He added that if a crazy gunman launches such an attack, there is no way that law enforcement officers could be there to stop it.
The best way is to be prepared to defend yourself, he told CBS News.
