Old Ghaziabad Food Tour - UNIQUE Egg Lolo Popo + Special VEG OMELETTE + BEST Rabri | Part 1

► More Street Food in Delhi NCR:
In this episode, we bring you our street food explorations from Ghaziabad, a city in the western the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Situated at a distance of nearly 42 km away from Delhi, it is an old industrial city which is now the part of National Capital Region of Delhi.
For this, we arrived at Jawahar Gate near Ghanta Ghar at Old Ghaziabad city. The busy marketplace with various shops as old as over sixty-five years or more gave us a semblance of Old Delhi. There were lots of street food eateries varying from shops to carts. Like most other places, here too the people love to gorge on the zesty street food fares like chaats, Moonglet, Dahi bhalle etc.
We started the food journey with the most preferred street food of Ghaziabad that is the Moonglet. These toothsome and comforting pan-fried moong dal based pancakes are a craze with the crowd here. It's resemblance to an omelette has earned it the name Moonglet i.e. moong dal based omelette.
It's is must-try delicacy in this part of the city
As we ambled down the crowded streets, we came across a cart selling Kanji Vada. It is a healthy dosh comprising of deep-fried moong dal dumplings dunked in a spices and fermented, mustard powder-based water. This one was refreshing, filling and healthy dish that is quite popular in the states of UP and Rajasthan. The person has been serving this thing for the past 35 years.
After being done with it, we went to have sweets from one of the oldest sweet shop in the locality known as Loknath Sweet. Here we were thrilled by the sight of luscious Rabri and Rasmalai. We were re recommended to try the above two desserts along with Chenar Kheer. And the well-made classics didn't disappoint us at all. All the three sweets were fresh, rich and most importantly, optimally sweet. The genial owner of the shop Sanjay ji eagerly walked us through the details of the sweets that we tried and also treated us to a yummy lassi. He also briefed us about the place.
After such a sweet encounter, we thought of trying the Hathras famed aloo tikkiya. Hahthras is a town in western Uttar Pradesh that is known for its Rabri and these zesty sweet and sour tikkis and chaats. This one was a simple dish of plain deep-fried aloo patties that was served wit chutneys and curd. It was not that outstanding but wasn’t very disappointing as well.
Then we went to Rakesh egg place to try two of their best selling dishes that were the Egg lolo popo and Egg curry. Both the dishes were simply scrumptious and no wonder, this place was the highlight of our Ghaziabad food tour.
Then came the turn of chilled Dahi Bhalle. We spotted it at a mobile cart that that was circling the bustling marketplace. The Dahi Bhallas or lentil-based fried dumplings were served with smooth and sweet beaten curd, crushed papdis, chutneys and roasted cumin powder. Served chilled, it was truly lip-smacking. The joy of eating these delightful dishes are a thing of joy.
Our ultimate stop was Goyel paan shop. It was our first trip to Ghaziabad and we were impressed by the wide array of street food options in this place. We couldn’t cover even half of the thing and so we intend to be back soon. Till then keep walking and keep exploring.

Guide to Rajasthan and the North of India
Wild Frontiers' Jonny Bealby presents a travel guide to Rajasthan and the north of India.
For Wild Frontiers Rajasthan and the North consists of the north-western states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and the Punjab, with Delhi and Agra thrown in for good measure.
Over half of all first time travellers to India visit Rajasthan and for good reason. With a plethora of magnificent monuments, its vibrant cities and fairy-tale heritage of Rajput palaces -- now converted into some of the most atmospheric hotels anywhere in the world -- Rajasthan is arguably India's most colourful state.
First and foremost there is the Golden Triangle; a natural routing that takes you from Delhi, with its great flight connections, through Agra and the essential Taj Mahal to Jaipur, the states capital and one of the most lively and evocative towns in the whole region. From here you can travel southwest through Pushkar, with its famous camel fair, Jodhpur, the Blue City, and on to Udaipur and the Venice of the East.
Or you could head out on the more remote but every bit as romantic desert routing, heading due west our of Delhi on what was one of the southern branches of the Old Silk Road to take in Bikanir, Nagaur and the most famous of all the desert town, Jailsalmer.
But there's also another way to go, to travel on a slower routing through the Rajasthani countryside, staying at some of the States most romantic rural palaces such as at Ramathra, Bhensrorgarh, Deogarh or Castle Bijaipur -- which is where I am now.
This really is quintessential India; the India of our childhood imagination, a calm quiet land where little of modern India appears, a place that is perfect for walking, cycling, riding or just relaxing.
Further afield there is the very under explored and deeply fascinating state of Gujarat. This is a region of fabulous temples, such as the amazing world heritage site at Palitana -- where I was two years back recceying our new trip to the region.
Gujarat is also home to some extraordinary landscapes and wildlife and some of the most diverse and interesting people in the country. Those of you a that are interested in textiles should make a special effort to come here as they are among the best the country, if not the world, can offer.
And finally another fascinating place to squeeze into this region is Amristsar. Holy city to the Sikhs, it is home to the amazing Golden Temple, the infamous Jahwallah Barg and the peculiar but utterly captivating, closing of the gate ceremony at the border with Pakistan. Which is something that has to be seen to be believed!
As I said at the start, most people coming to India will visit Rajasthan and the North -- and for very good reason. It offers everything the first timer or committed Indophile needs to have an amazing Indian experience.
Wild Frontiers has a number of small group tours to Rajasthan and the North, including our classic Taj, Temples and Tigers, our Desert Forts and Palaces and our more offbeat India in Slow Motion and with our experts in our office in London we can design bespoke travel to the region as well.
So come and see this amazing part of India; it'll stay with you forever.
INDORE (56 Dukan + Sarafa Bazar) Food Tour - FLYING Dahi Bada + GIANT Jaleba + Egg Benjo 2/2
► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:
► More Street Food in Madhya Pradesh:
In the final episode of the two part Indore Food Tour series, we bring you our memorable gastronomic explorations from 56 Dukaan and Sarafa Bazaar in Indore, the commercial capital of central India and the city of foodies. 56 Dukan is a lane that has 56 different eateries serving various popular street foods from and beyond the region. Sarafa Bazar on the other hand is Indore’s most prominent jewelry market transforms into a vegetarian food haven after sundown. This video is a compilation of the most popular eateries that are famous for their delectably exciting delicacies.
We start with eateries at Chappan Dukan street. Our first stop here was Vijay Chat House. We tried two of their most popular snacks, Batla Kachori and Khopra Patties. The former is peas stuffed kachori while the latter one is a one of its kind snacks that are available in Indore or to be precise at Vijay Chat House only. The coconut stuffed potato patties were crisp and moreish.
The second stop was Madhuram Sweets whose Shikanji is very popular. This one is not at all, not even remotely, the Shikanji that we are familiar with i.e. refreshing spiced lemonade. Here it refers to a luscious milk drink made with Rabri, buttermilk and spices. It’s a signature delicacy of this sweet shop.
Our third halt was Johny Hot Dog an eatery that is hugely popular with the locals, especially the young crowd for its delectable and affordable snacks like hotdogs, egg benjo etc. We ordered their bestseller Egg benjo and Veg Hot dog. The former is a simple yet interesting dish of spicy omelette stuffed buns. The use of desi ghee in the preparation gives its taste a different dimension. The veg hot dog was decent too.
As evening ushered in, the jewelry market of Sarafa bazaar got transformed into a food haven with innumerable vendors thronging the place in time. As the glitter from the gold ornaments gives way to the enchanting sight of mouth watering snacks.
We began our binge from the iconic Joshi ke Dahi Vade whose owner Joshi Ji was no less than a sorcerer. He has this unbelievable skill of flinging the Dahi Vada plates into the air without spilling a drop and also sprinkling five different spices in one pinch. He is also a very eloquent person whose sweet talks will win your heart. His Dahi vada was quite decent, especially the curd which was super smooth and luscious. This place is a must try.
Then we went on to try the Indore famous Bhutte ki Kees and Garadu from the stall named A-1 Garadu. This place is hugely famous for these two playful treats. We tried them for the first time and we loved them.
Our next food stop was Sawariya ke Khichdi food stall whose Sabudana kichdi is very famous among the locals. The mildly spiced Sago khichdi along with the toppings of spicy sev was quite appetising.
Next was the time for some sweets and so we visited the Jai Bhole Jalebi Bhandar to relish the humongous Jaleba which is nothing but a toothsome extra large saffron flavoured Jalebi. We thoroughly loved the contrast of hot jaleba with chilled Rabri.
To digest all the food we that we have been binging on since the morning, we decided to have a glass of lemon soda from Jai Bhole Soda. The fizzy drink gets extra frothy when the owner at the stall mixes some secret spices into the lemon soda.
From there we headed to Nima Kulfi, a highly recommended place at Sarafa bazar. Apart from the sensational kulfi, the genial owner was all decked up in gold ornaments.
Our penultimate halt was Naveen Coconut Crush stall where we tried the healthy and refreshing drink called the coconut crush. The concoction had a milky taste that came from the flesh of the coconut.
We wrapped up this food trail with a brilliant Paan from Anna Pan Shop.

Delhi City Tour HD |Sansad Bhavan| Rajghat Gandhi Memorial| India Gate| Lotus Temple| New Delhi
Delhi officially the #National Capital #Territory of Delhi, is the capital territory of the #Republic of India. Delhi is historically and culturally connected to both the Upper Doab of the #Yamuna-Ganges river system and the #Punjab region. It is bordered by #Haryana on three sides and by #Uttar Pradesh to the east. It is the #most populous city in India—about 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). It has a population of about 25 million, making it the second most #populous city after Mumbai and most populous urban agglomeration in India and 3nd largest urban area in the world.Such is the nature of urban expansion in Delhi that its growth has expanded beyond the NCT to incorporate towns in neighbouring states and at its largest extent can count a population of about 25 million residents as of 2014. After Mumbai, Delhi has the #second-highest number of billionaires and millionaires among all cities in India.
Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BCE Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of #various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the #metropolitan region.
#Delhi and its urban region have been given the special status of #National Capital Region (#NCR) under the Constitution of India's 69th Amendment #Act of 1991. The NCR includes the neighbouring cities of #Faridabad, #Gurgaon, #Noida, #Ghaziabad, #Neharpar(Greater Faridabad), #Greater #Noida, #Bahadurgarh, #Sonepat, #Panipat, #Karnal, #Rohtak, #Bhiwani, #Rewari, #Baghpat, #Meerut,Muzaffarnagar, #Alwar, #Bharatpur and other nearby towns. A union territory, the political administration of the NCT of Delhi today more closely resembles that of a #state of India, with its own legislature, #high court and an executive council of ministers headed by a Chief Minister. New Delhi is jointly administered by the federal government of India and the #local government of Delhi, and is the capital of the NCT of Delhi.
#Bahai Temple: Situated atop the #Kalkaji Hill. Its distinctive lotus shaped design in Marble. It was built in 1987 by the followers of Bahai faith. The temple signifies the purity and equality of all religions.
#Gandhi Smiriti: The Memorial consists of: (a) Visual Aspects to perpetuate the memory of #Mahatma Gandhi and the noble ideals he represented, (b) Educative Aspects to focus concentrated attention on certain values of life that made Gandhi a Mahatma, and (c) Service Aspects to introduce activities in order to subserve certain felt needs.
#Rajghat: The simple square platform of black marble marks the place where the father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi was cremated.
#New Delhi is a multidimensional metropolis sprinkled with glittering gems. The city's sometimes gritty surface gives way to #magnificent museums, #captivating monuments, #a lively arts scene and some of India's #most delectable places to eat. A true melting pot, visitors hear a jumble of languages and dialects spoken throughout the city, including #Punjabi, #Hindi, #Urdu and #English. The capital also mixes the two very different experiences of the “old” and “new” worlds. #Old Delhi reigned as the capital of old Islamic India, while New Delhi was born as the British imperial capital in 1931.#One of the most grandiose sites in New Delhi is the #Rashtrapati Bhavan, home of #India's president. Built by English architects, the palace combines classical columns with unmistakably Indian touches like majestic domes and colorful filigree work. For the most memorable first impression, approach the palace from the east at the India Gate and stroll through the gardens. Crisscrossed by #waterways and refreshing fountains, the gardens are a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and include whimsical #butterfly enclosures, shady fruit orchards and one of the subcontinent's best collections of Bonsai.
For an interesting overview of Indian history, visit the #National Museum, where the labyrinthine layout leads visitors through unparalleled collections featuring true masterpieces from all over the country. The splendid exhibitions include rare silk paintings, detailed woodcarvings, fearsome #Mughal weaponry, sacred Buddhist objects and more. Exploring the museum takes at least half a day, but it is worth it to gain a glimpse into India's fascinating history. Visitors to the city can walk in the footsteps of one of India's most prominent historical figures, #Mahatma Gandhi, and learn about his message of truth and non-violence. The Gandhi Smriti, where the activist spent the last days of his life before his assassination in 1948, is now a multimedia museum featuring well-preserved rooms, photographs, paintings and personal effects.
#New Delhi really comes alive in its bazaars. The shopping arcades exude energy, drawing in both locals and tourists.

Travel Guide to Rajasthan & the North

Rajasthan Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Rajasthan in India.
Rajasthan, Land Of Kings and one of the most unique and colourful provinces in northern India on the border with Pakistan. The barren desert landscape was once the home of the Rajputes that ruled over the land for more than a thousand years. Our journey begins in Agra. Situated on the border with Rajasthan this imposing metropolis of the Moguln monarchs is an ideal starting point. The palace city, the Red Fortress, was three generations in construction. A two and a half kilometre long wall with many bastions surrounds a spacious inner courtyard and numerous palace buildings. Although artistic stone masonry decorates a number of red sandstone arcades, most of the buildings are of marble. The ruling monarch and his royal household once held official events in the public audience hall, the seventy metre long, Diwan-I-Am. The city on the Jamuna River is full of life. Hustle and bustle are typical within the crowded streets of the former capital of the Mongul realm. It is like a medieval city with market stalls and tiny workshops, narrow lanes, colourful shops and traditional buildings. The Etimad-Ud-Doulah Mausoleum is a jewel of Mogul architecture. Around ten kilometres north of Agra close to Sikandra is the large tomb of Emperor Akbar who was one of the wisest Mogul monarchs. He ruled over the Indian Empire for almost half a century and was known to be extremely tolerant of religions other than his own. The sleepy desert town of Mandawa captures the unique charm of this extraordinary region like no other. Gravel roads and sandy lanes travel past old houses with romantic inner courtyards. India’s flair and diversity is very much alive here. The Land Of The Maharajas in all its splendour: Rajasthan is a living fairy-tale beneath the desert sky.
