A sailboat is a pleasure craft, the primarily through wind power is operated. From Sailboat it is distinguished by its smaller size.
Sailboats on the one hand these are dimensionally stable, and are divided and on the other monohull and multihulls (eg catamarans). Weight Stable sailboats, which moreover also have a living room with bunks have kitchen and are often referred to as sailing yachts referred to, especially if they are longer than about 10 meters. Boats with bunks and kitchen shorter than 10 meters are also day-sailer called (day-sailer). A Daysailer can be both a keel boat and a dinghy or a keel boat.
All design features affect the sailing performance of a sailboat. The term sailing vessel (always in the plural, because not played demarcated) designates properties as the attainable speed for a given wind speed, the heel occurring or the maximum height on wind. The traditional material for boats of sailing boats is Wood, which is given a protective coat of paint. Since mid-20th century most other boat building materials are used. Modern sailboat hulls are made of glass fiber or carbon fiber-reinforced plastic or from steel or aluminum.
For special applications (eg. As single-handed sailing) yachts are constructed with unusual sail shapes, z. B. yachts with Dschunkenrigg. Sailing the mega-yacht class mostly resort to the Sailed of historic sailing ships back or act like an oversized version of a sloop or a cutter. Exceptions are multi-masted schooner, such as the spectacular hochgetakelte Four-masted schooner Phocea.
For sailing heard next to the rigging and the sails, nor various other equipment to do so. To operate the sails different lines are needed, about traps and Schoten. The larger the boat and the sportier there is to be sailed, the more additional linen for optimally adjusting the sails are available. In modern boats all the lines end in the cockpit (cockpit also called), where they are easily accessible. In older boats that fall from the mast be operated, which has the disadvantage that for hauling the sail someone has to go there about what is difficult and quite dangerous in rough seas. To operate the lines can be found in the cockpit winch, so that the large forces that occur can be overcome.
On sailing yachts can be found below deck much of what even about the campsite is used: gas or gasoline stove with kitchen equipment, berths for sleeping, also bathrooms with toilets are today. As a special feature on ships of most existing navigation table is to be mentioned. This is the place that is reserved for cards work and where there is often even radios, GPS with plotter and the electrical distribution for the lights.
For the trip, the equipment must be well secured. In seas through the cabin flying equipment is dangerous and often fragile. Yachts may be days or weeks on the road without return to port. Thus, the equipment must be able to be used during sailing. Hobs are therefore mostly gimbal suspended so that they remain at heel in the horizontal and not a cooking product expires.
Under classic yachts is understood yachts that were built before 1970 in wood, steel or aluminum, and located in a largely original conservation status or have been restored accordingly. Classic yachts that drive a modern equipment (fittings, rigging, sails Carbon), which was not yet the time of construction of this classic yacht available are differentiating also known as vintage yachts. The friends of classic yachts are organized in Germany in Circle Classic yachts.
The Port Vell is the oldest part of the Port of Barcelona. It is the birthplace of the first spring stable city, with more than four centuries of existence. The sea separates a breakwater, until recently one of the favorite leisure central city. The dock timber was remodeled by Manuel de Solà-Morales. The Old Port facilities are for pleasure craft store like Pier and dock Barceloneta. Townhouses on the shores of Port Vell there are several facilities like the Palau de Mar which houses the History Museum of Catalonia, the Barcelona Customs, the World Trade Center and the Barcelona Aquarium. Also in the center there is an area dedicated to commercial use, known as Maremàgnum. There is also a part of the port reserved for cruise ships.

Barcelona what's next
Barcelona the wonderful sister of Rio de Janeiro.
Barcelona is always gravitating toward what's next, what's new.
The Catalan capital in northeastern Spain is rich with historic sites and classic tourist activities. To discover what's fueling Barcelona right now, look to new contemporary art museums and small galleries, but make time for old favorites too.
We love Barcelona,

Video containing the concert in Barcelona 2005. Very good filmed show, recorded from within the arena field. Mark's voice is not very loud on this recording. Funny to see the nice version of Olé, olé (or Oe, oe like the Spanish people call it) where the band plays along. The concert is not complete. It misses the last part of So far Away and Local hero. But apart from that a great show to watch.

CLASSIC BOAT SHOW in SPAIN [Ep 14]
In this episode, we explore a little bit more of Mahon, the huge natural harbour of Minorca. We see an impressive catamaran, explore a fortress, and see some truly incredible classic boats at the annual classic boat show in Mahon. Plus, I have a bit of fun and take some creative license with the narration... let me know what you think. I wanted to create a spoken-word style piece, and then set it to music... but now I'm pretty sure a lot of people will say it was rap. I guess it all depends on definitions, but it was not my intention to rap the narration haha.
As always, a HUGE thank you to our generous, kind, and inspiring patrons. If you're interested in supporting our journey and becoming a patron, please check out this link:
And, stay tuned for the next episode, we have a special one coming out :)
Sincerely,
Maya and Aladino
Sailing Mallorca & Falling in Love with Barcelona Ep.1
We sold or donated all of what we won't be able to fit onto our future Sailing Catamaran and said adios to the rat race in San Francisco and moved to sunny Florida; but not before taking a much needed vacation. We headed to Mallorca, Spain where we took a 7 day live-aboard Sailing Course and earned our ASA Certifications (ASA 101, 103, 104 and 114). Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, is truly a magical place and so was Barcelona. I hope you enjoy our first video of many more to come. We plan to share our experiences and hope to provide some inspiration to just go for it and do the thing that you've always dreamed of.

Barcelona, Spain
Recorded August 21, 2008.
Barcelona is the most populous city of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain, with a population of 1,615,908 in 2008, while the population of the Metropolitan Area was 3,161,081. It is located on the Mediterranean coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs and is bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola ridge. Barcelona is a major economic centre with one of Europe's principal Mediterranean ports, and Barcelona International Airport is the second largest in Spain after Madrid-Barajas Airport.
The video begins before sunrise when I sail into Barcelona on the Sea Princess. After a beautiful sunrise I watch the many other ships sailing into the port for the day. Next I journey into the city and walk down La Rambla the main thoroughfare famous for its mimes. My walk continues past the Columbus Monument, a 197 foot tall monument for Christopher Columbus. The video concludes back on the Sea Princess as we sail away. My time in the city was limited as I spent most of the day at Montserrat which is an hours drive outside the city.
