INCIDENT DETAILS:
A man’s car ran out of gas while he was in the Corral Canyon ORV near Lake Morena.
The victim started walking and looking for help.
He was in the backcountry for 3 days and nights without food and water.
Some hikers found the man today and went for help.
The Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter spotted a fire, as the Cleveland National Forest Fighters and SDFD personnel were opening a gate to go look for the man.
The man seeing the Helicopter started the fire. It burned approx 1/4 to 1/2 acre before being put out.
The man was suffering from exposure and was transported to a hospital.

Wildfire ravages California retirement community
(9 Dec 2017) Flames engulfed retirement communities built on golf courses, thoroughbreds in racehorse stables and other usually serene sites as the San Diego area became the latest front in California's wildfire fight.
The fire broke out Thursday amid dry, windy conditions that would be extreme for any season but are especially stunning just two weeks from winter.
It grew to 6 square miles (16 square kilometers) in a matter of hours and burned dozens of houses as flames tore through the tightly packed Rancho Monserate Country Club, a retirement community in the small city of Fallbrook, known for its avocado orchards and horse ranches.
There was a very large fire and a very large amount of smoke and the sheriff came through and made it clear that everyone should get out. I thought he was full of bologna but once I saw the flames and the smoke I thought maybe he's right so I left, Fallbrook resident John Knapp said.
Three people were burned while escaping the flames and at least 85 buildings were destroyed, authorities said.
Out of 10,000 people who fled homes, about 900 were in shelters.
Trees were charred for miles along a winding highway on Friday in the community of Bonsall and some houses lay in ruins on a road.
The fire, on the eastern border of the Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton, was uncontained, although winds subsided significantly overnight.
Forecasters said they would return later in the day but be less widespread.
Authorities said 1,000 firefighters battled the flames with help from a fleet of air tankers and helicopters.
Significant resources also were being deployed to stamp out a new, small fire that began to the east in the Cleveland National Forest near the mountain town of Alpine.
Meanwhile, firefighters northwest of Los Angeles gained some control over the largest and most destructive fire in the state, which has destroyed 430 buildings.
The blaze in Ventura County has grown to 206 square miles (533 square kilometers) since igniting Monday.
Fire crews also made enough progress against other large fires around LA to lift most evacuation orders.

Black Mountain is a summit in the Cleveland National Forest of the Peninsular Ranges in eastern San Diego County, California, north of Ramona. The peak is measured at 4,048 feet (1,234 m), and is sometimes referenced as Big Black Mountain to distinguish it from the smaller Rancho Peñasquitos Black Mountain Open Space Park in the city of San Diego. Black Mountain offers a WX channel for people who wish to tune in on radios to hear the weather; channel is located on VHF frequency 162.4000 MHz.
Black Mountain is home to one of the largest remaining tracts of the threatened Engelmann Oak (Quercus engelmannii).
Miramar Reservoir is a reservoir located in the Scripps Miramar Ranch community of San Diego, California. Owned, operated and maintained by the City of San Diego, the reservoir was completed in 1960 as part of the second San Diego Aqueduct project.
Montgomery Field (MYF) is centrally located in the Kearny Mesa area of the City. The airport is home base to approximately 600 aircraft and offers a 3400' lighted runway served by an Instrument Landing System (ILS), with 4,577 feet available for takeoff, a 3,400' parallel runway, a 3,400' crosswind runway, a control tower operating 6:00 am - 9:00 pm daily, and a full range of aviation support facilities.

John Joseph Montgomery (February 15, 1858 October 31, 1911) was an aviation pioneer, inventor, professor at Santa Clara College.
On August 28, 1883 he made the first manned, controlled, heavier-than-air flights of the United States, in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, California (after European pioneers such as George Cayley's coachman in 1853, or Jean-Marie Le Bris in 1856). Later, in 1905, Montgomery's pilot Daniel Maloney made a series of remarkable flights in the vicinity of Aptos and Santa Clara using tandem wing Montgomery gliders launched from balloons. These flights demonstrated the controllability of the Montgomery design and were the highest flights achieved by man to date. John Montgomery was issued U.S. Patent #831,173 on September 18, 1906 for his invention of an aeroplane. He was a member of the Aero Club of Illinois (1910) and member of the research committee of the Technical Board of the New York Aeronautical Society (1911).
Montgomery died in the crash of his glider The Evergreen on October 31, 1911 and was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California on November 3, 1911.
In 1946, John J. Montgomery's life was portrayed in the movie Gallant Journey starring Glenn Ford and Janet Blair, and directed by William Wellman.

El Capitan Reservoir is a reservoir in central San Diego County, California about 30 miles (50 km) northeast of the city of San Diego and two miles north of the town of Alpine. Sand to Snow National Monument
The Sand to Snow National Monument encompasses 154,000 acres, including more than 100,000 acres of already congressionally-designated Wilderness. The protected area preserves a tract of land between Joshua Tree National Park and the San Bernardino National Forest. The preserve extends from the Sonoran Desert floor to the summit of Mount San Gorgonio, Southern California's tallest alpine peak. “Sand to Snow National Monument is an ecological and cultural treasure and one of the most biodiverse areas in southern California, supporting more than 240 species of birds and twelve threatened and endangered wildlife species.” (White House Press Release)
Mule deer, mountain lions and black bears are among the larger mammals that roam this region. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Whitewater Rivers and 30 miles of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail are also located within the monument. Outdoor recreation opportunities are abundant, including more than 100 miles of hiking trails, hunting opportunities, camping, horseback riding, photography, skiing and wildlife viewing. Some highlights include the beautiful Whitewater Canyon which is an important wildlife corridor connecting the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains. Big Morongo Canyon is also included and has been designated a Preserve and Area of Critical Environmental Concern by the Bureau of Land Management. In the last three decades, fueled in large part by a national drug policy and legislation like three strikes laws, America has imprisoned more people in local jails, federal penitentiaries, and private correctional facilities than Stalin put in the Gulags. New court rulings have declared overcrowded prisons to be unconstitutional, and the sheer cost of incarceration is forcing prisons to let prisoners back out on the streets.
VICE News was granted rare access to go inside one of the most maximum-security prisons in the country, a place that's on the frontline of what could be a sea change in prison policy. Salinas Valley State Prison is home to America's most powerful prison gangs including the Aryan Brotherhood and Mexican Mafia. It's a place that's projected to have more than 700 assaults this year. In touching videos taken on his cellphone, Kevin Diepenbrock, 41, originally from Greenville, Texas, says his final goodbyes to his family after he and another motorcyclist crashed on a stretch of U.S. Highway 129 known as The Dragon on Oct. 15, 2016, and tumbled down a rocky embankment.
