Tom & Debby Harris of Harris Stage Lines present the Ballad of the Concord Stage Coach, a lively re-enactment of the stagecoach Mark Twain described as “an imposing cradle on wheels.” It transported everything from bags of mail to luggage and passengers as it tore across the bumpy roads, of the Old West. The reproduction Corcord Stage Coach driven by Tom Harris and pulled by a stunning 4-Up Hitch of black crossbred horses was built in 1986 by master craftsman J. Brown Stagecoach Works in Weatherford, Texas.

Steady traffic at 4 pm on a weekday. Hard to take a left here- I think there should be a light but it will never happen. I find watching traffic calming, and a good insight on human nature. There are no thrills here- I prefer the everyday; mundane.

Caring for our Veterans
While serious people can have legitimate differences about when our country should go to war, there should never be a debate whether we fulfill the promises made to the men and women who served this country in the military. As a nation, we have a moral obligation to provide the best quality care to those who have put their lives on the line to defend us.
Sen. Sanders believes that just as planes and tanks and guns are a cost of war, so is taking care of the men and women who we sent off to fight the war. It includes caring for the spouses and children who have to rebuild their lives after the loss of a loved one. It includes caring for the hundreds of thousands of veterans with multiple amputations or loss of eyesight, post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. It includes veterans who are having difficulty keeping jobs in order to pay their bills, and it includes the terrible tragedy of veterans committing suicide.
As the former Chairman and a current member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, one of Sen. Sanders’ highest priorities in Congress has been ensuring that our veterans receive the care and benefits they have earned.
Amid reports of unacceptable wait times at many VA medical facilities last year, Sen. Sanders spearheaded a bipartisan effort to pass the most comprehensive veterans’ legislation in decades. The landmark Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act increases accountability within the VA and ensures that all veterans have access to timely health care.
The law written by Sanders strengthens the VA health care system by authorizing 27 new medical facilities and by providing $5 billion to hire more doctors and nurses to care for the surging number of veterans returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It provides incentives to attract young doctors to the VA. It makes it easier for some veterans to see private doctors or go to community health centers, Department of Defense facilities or Indian Health Centers. It expanded VA educational benefits and improved care for survivors of sexual trauma while serving in the military.
Sen. Sanders wants to build on a program he has championed in Vermont, where the National Guard operates an innovative outreach program to provide pre-deployment and post-deployment support to family members and service members. This effort has been hugely successful in terms of making sure that veterans know about and receive the health care, mental health counseling, family assistance, transition assistance and other benefits they need to make sure they can live a healthy and productive life.
Moving forward, Sen. Sanders wants to expand veterans’ benefits by making comprehensive dental care available to all veterans at VA medical centers, and by expanding caregiver provisions. He believes we must do more to meet the mental health needs of our veterans, especially those who have served in harm’s way. We must fully restore cuts to military pensions that were insisted upon by Republicans in the last budget deal.
Instead of cutting benefits for the men and women who have served our country, we should ask the most profitable corporations and the wealthiest among us to pay their fair share.
Sen. Sanders also strongly believes that we must end the travesty of veterans’ homelessness. While huge gains have been made over the past six years, the fact that on any given night there are fifty thousand homeless veterans on the street is a national disgrace. We also need to make further improvements to the VA disability claims process, which while significantly streamlined, still takes far too long for many veterans.

CONCORD, N.H. -- Real estate mogul Donald Trump officially filed for the New Hampshire primary today, insulting five of his opponents and predicting the demise of one of his top GOP foes along the way.
“Rubio’s going down next,” Trump said with dozens of sign-waving supporters standing behind him on the steps of the New Hampshire State House.
Trump continued raising questions about Rubio’s finances today, urging the media to dig into his bank records.
“Marco Rubio has a disaster on his finances,” said Trump. “He has a disaster on his credit cards. When you check his credit cards, take a look at what he’s done on the Republican party when he had access, what he had to put back in, and whether or not something should have happened -- you’ll understand it. … Let’s see what you find.”
Trump, while reminding reporters his campaign has urged any would-be Trump Super PACs to disband and return their money, blasted Rubio for accepting the backing of billionaire Paul Singer.
“Paul Singer represents amnesty and he represents illegal immigrants pouring into the country and now he’s with Rubio,” said Trump. “Rubio is totally in favor of very, very lax rules… Now Rubio is surging in New Hampshire? I don’t think so.”
Trump also launched into an imitation of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush -- who’s on day two of a three-day bus tour through the Granite State, mocking him for admitting he’s not much of a debater.
“Why would he admit that?” Trump said. “I watch him: ‘I’m not an entertainer.’ He goes, ‘I’m not a good talker. I don’t speak well. I don’t debate well. I don’t do anything well. But I want you to vote for me.’ That’s Jeb Bush. Why would you say these things? This is what’s going to negotiate with China? This is what’s going to negotiate with Iran?”
Trump also jabbed at Hillary Clinton, John Kasich and Ben Carson.
Ben Carson is not equipped to do that -- he doesn't have a chance of bringing back a single job, said Trump.
The ballot filing is Trump’s only New Hampshire event today.
Rubio, meanwhile, plans to speak at St. Anselm College this afternoon and Bush holds a series of town halls later today.

USA: NEW HAMPSHIRE: PRESIDENT CLINTON STARTS ELECTION CAMPAIGN
English/Nat
US President Bill Clinton received warm support from residents of Concord in New Hampshire Friday as he kicked off his election campaign to win a second term in office.
But the Whitewater cloud continues to follow the Clintons - with a request lodged for the President to be subpoenaed in the investigation.
Despite the news, Clinton was smiling and joking as he met students and townsfolk on a day of low-key campaigning.
Clinton has returned to the state that gave his presidential campaign a crucial boost four years ago.
In 1992, he was placed a strong second here in New Hampshire to a local favourite from Massachusetts and at the time declared himself The Comeback Kid.
Appearing relaxed, the President met a class of sixth-graders Friday at the Walker Elementary School in Concord and chatted about his job.
But the Whitewater cloud is hanging over Clinton as his campaign swings into gear.
It wasn't all bad news for the president however..a welcome message came from one of the Walker School computers.
UPSOUND:
You will be re-elected
I like this programme
For a state used to seeing politicians, Clinton received warm receptions at most of his appearances.
He addressed a crowd of 13-hundred teachers, parents and students at the Concord Centre for Arts.
SOUNDBITE:
You know every four years this state performs a very valuable function for the rest of the country. In the New Hampshire primary system you have the opportunity face to face, in small groups, community meetings, in real settings at work and in school to hold people who seek the nation's highest office accountable to the citizens who are ultimately in control of our destiny. You can ask about issues and you can teach people who come from different lives and experiences what it's like to see the entire American experience. In your tradition of town meetings, quiet conversations, genuine dialogue you rebuke the loud slogans and the harsh conflict in so much of modern political conflict that sheds more heat than light
SUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, U-S President
Later, Clinton toured the Lockheed plant in Nashua that manufactures communications satellites.
He's hoping to steal some more attention from the Republican presidential hopefuls on a similar trip planned for Iowa next week.
