RED OAK CREEK COVERED BRIDGE - Woodbury GA
Red Oak Creek (also known as Imlac Bridge) located in Woodbury, GA, is open to traffic. Built in the 1840s by freed slave and noted Bridge Builder Horace King (1807 -- 1885)
Constructed on the Town lattice design, the bridge's web planks crisscrossing at 45 to 60 degree angles are fastened at each intersection with a total of approximately 2,500 wooden pegs, or trunnels. Although King is credited with the construction of many covered bridges throughout west Georgia, this is his only surviving bridge of this design. At 391 feet, including the approaches, this structure is the oldest and longest wooden covered bridge in Georgia.
Red Oak Creek is located approximately 9 miles north of Warm Springs via Georgia Hwy 85 on Covered Bridge Rd.

this bridge uses steel rods as tension members in it's truss design. The result is similar to a queen post or Warren truss. The angled rods make the bridge unique, certainly in Georgia if not the entire US. The use of steel rods was fairly common for the late 19th century and can also be seen on the Concord Road Bridge and the Lula Bridg

Concord Baptist Cemetery aka The Witch's Cemetery Paranormal Investigation
I conducted multiple P-SB7 sessions and a spirit lights session. I witnessed a black phantom orb fly by me. I was constantly seeing things out of the corners of my eyes the entire time I was there. I also had physical contact where something touched my foot. I wouldn't exactly call this video evidence, just documentation of the interesting experiences I had while exploring this extremely spooky old cemetery.

Concord Cemetery, also known as the Old Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, is located in Smyrna Georgia. Many of the graves have been vandalized; and therefore unmarked and unknown.
The land this cemetery sat on was at the heart of the Cherokee Nation until 1832. By 1835, the Cherokee had been sent west on the trail of tears. 30 years later, in July of 1864, a series of civil war battles were fought in Smyrna during the series of events that led to the Battle of Atlanta, pitting Union General Sherman vs Confederate Generals Johnston and Hood. The Battle of Ruff's Mill was fought at Nickajack Creek on July 4, 1864, roughly 600 feet away from this Cemetery. The Gann house, which was used as a field hospital during and after the battle of Ruff's Mill, is located roughly 500 feet from this cemetery. Burial records were lost when General Sherman's troops burned the majority of the buildings in the area in July, 1864.
Concord Baptist is an old, abandoned, and heavily vandalized cemetery. Local legends claim that a witch is buried there. Paranormal claims include experiences of knocking seemingly coming from underground, disembodied voices, cold spots, and the sound of phantom drums playing.

Bruce O'Neal: Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge
Bruce O'Neal shares the story of Georgia's longest wooden covered bridge. Built in the 1840s by Horace King -- an African-American. Bruce is a driving force behind the preservation of this bridge located in Meriwether County GA in the town of Imlac (near Woodbury). The bridge was also used in the climatic gun fight scene in the 2012 film Lawless.

Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge - Woodbury, Georgia - A Surviving Horace King Bridge
The Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge, sometimes called the Imlac Covered Bridge, spans Red Oak Creek in the small community of Imlac not far from Woodbury, Georgia.
Only 12 miles north of Warm Springs, the old bridge is a rare surviving example of the ingenuity of famed bridge builder Horace
King. Including approaches, it stretches for 391 feet, making it the longest wooden bridge in Georgia. The main span is 253 feet
long and is the state's oldest covered bridge.
Born into slavery in South Carolina in 1807, Horace King was either set free or bought his freedom from contractor John Godwin, who
encouraged and mentored King after it became evident that he possessed an intellect for engineering that can only be described as genius. To allow King greater rights to move about as needed and to own property, the Alabama Legislature passed a special act granting him full freedom in the eyes of the law.
On his own, he supervised crews of slaves that built bridges across Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. This was a remarkable
achievement for a freed slave of African American and Catawba Indian descent during the antebellum days of slavery in the Deep South. Among his projects were a number of bridges, including the long spans over the Chattahoochee River destroyed by Union troops during the Battle of Columbus.
Horace King also designed the spiral staircase in the State Capitol Building in Montgomery, Alabama. The sweeping staircase is an architectural wonder, but King was best known for his bridges. And there is no disputing the statement that he was a master builder of covered bridges. At one time much of the Deep South moved on
bridges built by Horace King.
Of all the bridges he built, however, only one remains in use today, the Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge in Meriwether County, Georgia.
