Confusion Hill - The real life Gravity Falls! Roadside Attraction on the Redwood Highway
Confusion Hill! This real-life inspiration for the Disney show “Gravity Falls” is one of the most historic, epic, old school Roadside attractions in the state of California, and is certainly my favorite!
A staple of US-101 travel along with its neighbor the World Famous Tree House, Confusion Hill has been luring in travelers along the Old Redwood Highway since 1949. With the slogan “is seeing believing?” George Hudson began inviting travelers into his gravity house and later, to ride the confusion hill mountain mystery train! Thanks to “Tony the train man,” this ride is one of the most entertaining things to do in the country. Guys like this are born, not made, and are a true roadside wonder!
Plus! See the secret HUMAN GRAVE hardly ever seen!0
Purchased by the Campbell brothers since 1999 (and still owned by the family) CONFUSION HILL (just south of Piercy, Ca - very close to Richardson grove) is a fantastic living survivor of the postwar “are we there yet?” Roadside attraction, and one of the few from that era that’s fully worth the time and the money ! Gravity house is self guided, which has been my dream ever since childhood and visiting the haunted shack at Knott’s and never getting called on
Anyway; for Gravity Falls fans, not only is this the last resting place of the one and only BILL CYPHER but we show you secrets and hidden things in and around the gift shop such as Grunkle Stans fez, Dipper’s hat, a cipher puzzle, The real life Mystery Shack building, Gravity Falls’ Paul Bunyan and tram, the inspiration for their log diner, and more!
Come along to one of the greatest roadside attractions ever, and along the way visit one of the FIRST in the form of the fraternal monarch, the world famous tree house opened by pioneer woman Minnie Stoddard Lilley who also owned and is buried on confusion hills land.
Alright guys strap in, it’s Randomland time!

Huell Howser Visits Confusion Hill
From the Huell Howser Archives at Chapman University:
Join Huell at this old fashioned roadside attraction that features a ‘gravity house’ where water flows uphill, a mini train ride through the ancient forest, the largest freestanding redwood chainsaw carving in the world, and the redwood shoehouse! But its not just fun and games, this spot has some pioneering history as well! UPDATE: Since Huell’s visit Confusion Hill has been officially named a “California State point of historic interest”… Check it out for yourself.
Jenny & Craig visit Confusion Hill in Northern California’s redwood coast.
On a recent road trip, we made a quick stop at Confusion Hill, an old-school roadside attraction featuring some cool optical illusions.
