Coronado Island Coronado is a resort city located in San Diego County, California,
#whereintheworldisnadia Coronado Island Coronado is a resort city located in San Diego County, California, across the San Diego Bay from downtown San Diego.[8] It was founded in the 1880s and incorporated in 1890. Its population was 24,697 at the 2010 census,[5][6] up from 24,100 at the 2000 census.
Coronado lies on an island connected to the mainland by a tombolo called the Silver Strand. In 1602 the explorer Sebastian Vizcaino gave the island its name and drew its first map. In 2012 Dr. Stephen Leatherman, Director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research, ranked Coronado Beach as the best beach in the United States.[9]
Coronado is Spanish for crowned one, and thus it is nicknamed The Crown City. Three ships of the United States Navy have been named after the city, including USS Coronado.
Market on Wheels Episode 1 - Coronado Historic District Phoenix Arizona
Welcome to Coronado Historic District! A neighborhood that’s a true community.
Located in midtown Phoenix Arizona, the Coronado covers just under 2 square miles and includes around 4,000 households. Three historic districts – Brentwood, Coronado and Country Club Park – make up much of the neighborhood. Hundreds of small businesses thrive on the periphery. The western side of Coronado was constructed largely between 1920 and 1930 and reflects the California Bungalow and Spanish Colonial Revival building styles; the northern side is predominantly ranch styles common of the 1940’s. Throughout the neighborhood you will find the occasional contemporary infill home. Much of the neighborhood falls within the Phoenix Historic Preservation zoning guidelines.
The Coronado neighborhood is centrally located and has direct access to major freeways, is within close proximity of the Phoenix downtown & central corridor, the “arts district”, the light rail line, and three major hospitals.
There is a general pride of ownership in the area, yet not as formal as some other historic districts like Willo and Encanto/Palmcroft. This attitude may be what attracts the creative types such as artists, web designers and architects to the area as well as a growing student population from ASU’s downtown campus.
Most agree that Coronado Historic District gives better than average bang for the buck when buying a historic home in Phoenix. The smaller home sizes and lot footprints keep costs down from a price per square foot standpoint and the 7-13 block distance from light rail appears to have an effect on home values in the downtown region
Each year the residents of the Coronado Historic District invite the community to see a number of the fine homes. The Coronado Historic Home Tour offers excursions into several homes and yards plus a street side festival with lots of vendors. the event that takes place in early March each year.
If you have questions about buying or selling a historic home we are here for you. It is our passion to help people know more about the old homes that add so much to the richness of life in downtown Phoenix Arizona.

Peppers Market, Coronado Springs Resort, Walt Disney World, Florida
This is a special edition of the Good Eats. Today we are at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort celebrating Coleton's Birthday. First off if you have seen the Agave Azul video, check that out, there is a link below. In that video Coleton gets an awesome surprise early birthday gift!
We decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of being in the parks and fighting the crowd and decided instead to head to the Peppers Market located in the Coronado Springs Resort. We purchased the quick service meal plan with our Disney tickets and decided to give that a try.
As I described in the video, we didn't think the food was all that great. In order to be efficient at moving so many people at Disney a lot of the food available is pre made and a bit soggy with a little cafeteria taste mixed in... not the best. This is not to say that the quick service meal plan is not worth getting, on the contrary, if you do a bit of research and figure out whats where there are some really good deals out there. One of our favorites is Earl of Sandwich located in Disney Springs.
Since this restaurant experience would not have been that entertaining, we decided to take you on a trip around the resort to check out all the pools. There are 3 major pools on Coronado Springs as you will see in the video. The small pool located in the Cabanas area, the pool we call our pool located next to our room known as the Casitas Pool and the main pool called the Dig Site. We spent most of our time at the Casitas pool which seemed to be less crowded and way closer to the room, albeit not near as big or dramatic. The resort is what Disney calls a Celebration of Mexico and the Southwest which many areas of the resort are themed after.
Even though this restaurant experience wasn't that great, we had an amazing time at Disney and the Coronado Springs resort and if anyone reading this is on the fence about a trip here and where to stay we highly highly recommend it. Its been a blast and really wish it didn't have to end!
Hope you guys enjoyed the video and thanks so much for watching! Please don't forget to like and subscribe and feel free to leave us a comment about your experience at Coronado Springs! Also, if you have any ideas or want us to try something new don't hesitate to let us know! Also If you have any questions about Disney or your thinking about going and just want some ideas, feel free to hit us up anytime!
Have an awesome rest of the day!

It was 1884 when Elisha Babcock Jr, a telephone company executive and Hampton Story, founder of a piano company, arrived in San Diego. The two initially didn’t know each other, but during a quail hunting trip on a peninsula off the coast they both realized that the area would make for a fantastic resort destination. So for the grand total of one-hundred and ten thousand dollars, the two purchased the forty-one hundred acre plot of land with the dream of transforming the area into a southern California paradise that would be home to the grandest hotel in the country, if not the world. With the idea that it would be the “king of the west” when it came to resorts, they named the area Coronado, which was spanish for “the crowned one”.
A couple of years later in 1886 they would split up the land into lots, saving a large piece of the beachfront for their hotel, and auctioned off the rest. They attracted over 300 buyers who ultimately paid around one-hundred thousand dollars in total for their lots. By the following year that total would exceed one and a half million dollars and by the time all the lots were sold it would bring in a grand total of two point two-five million dollars. The idea was that the revenue brought in from the sale of these lots would pay for construction of the hotel itself.
Using part of that money they hired the Reid Brothers of Indiana to design this hotel paradise. It was an all-wooden hotel that utilized what was called Queen Anne Revival architecture. With the hotel designed and ready, the construction team broke ground in March of 1887 and over the following 11 months a team of over two hundred and fifty workers raised what would become the largest hotel in the world. There was so much lumber on site that smoking around the hotel while it was being built was reportedly banned, out of fear of what might happen if a fire were to break out. When it finally opened in February of 1888 it sported four hundred guest rooms and was widely considered, beyond being the largest hotel in the world, to be one of the most technologically advanced as well. Because you see the Del offered a new blossoming modern marvel that had only really begun to commercially spread over the previous few years: electricity. But that’s not all! The hotel also offered telephone service, which had only just reached that part of California seven years earlier. It’s final price tag? Just around one million dollars. At opening rooms went for around two dollars and fifty cents a night which included with it three meals.

Located just across the San Diego Bay from Downtown San Diego, home to the historic Hotel del Coronado and the iconic San Diego-Coronado Bridge, sits the picturesque, coastal community of Coronado, CA. At just 32 square miles, Coronado has a small-town atmosphere, filled with rich culture and history and beautiful sandy beaches.
Spanish for “The Crowned One,” Coronado truly lives up to its nickname “The Crown City,” having been a vacation destination for many US presidents and old Hollywood celebrities. With wide tree-lined streets, beautiful, old-world mansions, and a variety of unique boutiques and restaurants, Coronado is the quintessential, seaside town.
With a year-round Mediterranean climate, Coronado provides the perfect environment to participate in outdoor activities. Ride your bike along Coronado’s Bay Shore 16 mile bike path, kayak in Glorietta Bay, or simply enjoy an outdoor picnic in Spreckels Park, located right in the heart of Coronado.

The Coronado Ferry Landing has a variety of fine and casual dining restaurants, such as Peohe’s, where you can dine al fresco while enjoying the amazing views of the downtown San Diego skyline.
Consistently voted one of America’s finest beaches by The Travel Channel, Coronado is known for its pristine sandy beaches with sand that truly sparkles, courtesy of the mineral Mica. Great for families, the sand is wide and the surf gentle, making it the perfect playground for families to enjoy building sandcastles and frolicking in the waves. You can even bring your four legged friends to North Beach, where dogs are allowed off-leash year round!
And of course, no trip to Coronado would be complete without visiting the famous, Hotel del Coronado. Be sure to walk around the seaside resort, take in the stunning architecture and read about the rich history of this luxury hotel!
With Coronado being only two miles from Downtown San Diego by car or a short 15-minute ferry ride, residents can enjoy their private “island” away from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still being close to various San Diego attractions such as Downtown and the San Diego Airport. With beautiful beaches and plenty of outdoor activities, Coronado is a wonderful place to both vacation and call home.
