ABOUT:
A Journey of Conquest and Exploration It was a journey of conquest, filled with exploration, wonder - and cruelty. Inspired by tales of vast cities of gold, 339 European soldiers and over 1000 Aztec allies embarked on an epic journey through arid deserts and rugged mountains. They brought rich traditions and new technology into the region, irrevocably changing the lives of native peoples and continuing to influence the area today.
We also visited the birding mecca of Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Rare birds, such as the tufted flycatcher and the flame-colored tanager. A lush sycamore streamside-forest set in the beautiful Huachuca Mountains, which harbor many species of plants and animals at the northern edge of their ranges, such as Apache pine, Berylline hummingbird and coati. And a spring-fed stream and high canyon walls that keep Ramsey Canyon cool and moist. That’s just a small part of the adventure and beauty you’ll find here!

SUMMARY
=======
Francisco Vázquez de Coronado y Luján (Spanish pronunciation: [fɾanˈθisko ˈβaθkeθ ðe koɾoˈnaðo]; 1510 – 22 September 1554) was a Spanish conquistador and explorer who led a large expedition from Mexico to present-day Kansas through parts of the southwestern United States between 1540 and 1542. Vázquez de Coronado had hoped to reach the Cities of Cíbola, often referred to now as the mythical Seven Cities of Gold, which is a term not invented until American gold-rush days in the 1800s. His expedition marked the first European sightings of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River, among other landmarks. His name is often Anglicized as Vasquez de Coronado.

SUMMARY
=======
The National Park System is well endowed to commemorate Hispanic contributions to American society. Some 20 national parklands represent America's Hispanic heritage. Some sites remotely display Hispanic contributions to American culture. The National Park System not only preserves the history and contributions of Hispanic Americans, it is also a part of the nation's history. Over the years, the National Park Service has reflected the nation's social history. Among the first Hispanics who influenced the course of the National Parks were:
Biologist
George Melendez Wright was born in California in 1904. In 1927, he was hired at Yosemite National Park as assistant park naturalist. Through his studies and insight, the park service moved away from the destruction of predator to the scientific management of park plants, animals and scenery.
