Lex sez: Corriganville, a currently abandoned movie location ranch named after western actor/stuntman/Man in a Gorilla suit actor Ray Corrigan, is located in a rocky, woodsy area of the Santa Susana Pass in southern California. Neek and I went out there on a beautiful sunny (and quite hot!) day to explore the terrain and see what remained of this western ranch which was open to the public as an amusement park from May 1, 1949 until 1966 when Bob Hope closed the ranch.
Most of what remains of the movie ranch are just the cement foundations of the buildings that used to exist. But there are a number of different signs at the various locations informing guests of what building used to be at each site. Dirt roads going in all different directions lead up and down hills to these sites. The Vendetta Village, named after the Howard Hughes film Vendetta and the site of filming for the John Ford film Fort Apache are located up in the hills which are rocky, but not too tough to traverse.
But what I found most fascinating was in the lower part of Corriganville near the parking lot, an area I called Stonehenge. It took a while to figure out what it was used for, then found out it was a barn area for the horses. It was a really fascinating place, which only seemed to grow more fascinating the more we explored it!

Corriganville Park in Simi Valley
Corriganville Park is located at 7001 Smith Road, off of Kuehner in Simi Valley. The park is 206 acres of trails, beautiful sandstone peaks, picnic areas and history. From 1937 to 1965, thousands of Western films at the Corrigan Movie Ranch, which was destroyed in the 1970s from fires. All that is left are the concrete slabs and exterior walls of a barn. A beautiful and peaceful setting you will find here.

It's a beautiful place to live in #Usa.. its close proximity to #Hollywood, Simi Valley has long been a popular entertainment industry location.
Simi Valley and the surrounding #hills have been the site of several television shows, including the long-running series #Gunsmoke and #M*A*S*H.
Established in 1937 and opened to the public in 1949, the #Corriganville Movie Ranch, established by Ray #Crash Corrigan, is located at the extreme Eastern end of Simi Valley and was the production site for many #movies and #television shows. Today the site is open to the public as #Corriganville Park, just off the #Santa Susana Pass Road.
The popular 1970s television show #Little House on the Prairie utilized an expansive collection of #sets constructed throughout the hilly #landscapes of #Big Sky Ranch in the #Tapo Canyon hills north of Simi Valley and #Santa Clarita, California. In addition to the Little House itself, the entire set for the town of #Walnut Grove was built atop the hills. After finishing his work on the series, #Michael Landon blew up the town (which became part of the final movie) but the Little House itself was left intact. In July 2004, the house was destroyed by a devastating California #wildfire .Among other movies. Bachelor party.with. #Tom hanks, #Sneakers, #Robert Redford, #Forever Young, #Mel Gibson, #Honey I blew up the kids, #American Ninja Warior..

Silvertown Movie Studio Ruins - LOLA

Corriganville Ranch, in Simi Valley, near Los Angeles, California, served as an outdoor movie studio / set for several western films before it burned down. The set was (according to a plaque on the site) accessible by visitors, who could walk around and patronize the town's establishments, experiencing the feel of an old, wild west town.
Relevance to the rest of my vlog: part of the site was used for legit motorcycle racing before it became a City Park!!

Spahn Ranch, also known as the Spahn Movie Ranch, was a 500-acre (200 ha) movie ranch in Los Angeles County, California, used for filming generally Western-themed movies and television programs. With mountainous terrain, boulder-strewn scenery, and an 'old Western town' set, Spahn Ranch was a versatile filming site for many scripts. No longer in use, the entrance to the historic ranch was at 12000 Santa Susana Pass Road (street numbers have since been changed) of the Simi Hills and Santa Susana Mountains above Chatsworth, California. Now part of the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park, Spahn Ranch is notorious for having been the primary residence of Charles Manson and his followers, the Manson Family, for much of 1968 and 1969.

Beautiful California - Rocky Peak and Corriganville Park (may not play on Mobile)
Corriganville Park is near Santa Susana Pass in the Simi valley. A lovely park with different rock formation where many Western Films were made. Lone Ranger, Robin Hood, Three Musketeers were among the famous movies that were filmed here. A part of the wooded area is still referred to as the Sherwood Forest. It has many hiking trails and stunning views.
