Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Coulee Verte Rene Dumont
The Coulée verte René-Dumont or Promenade plantée or the Coulée verte is a 4.7 km elevated linear park built on top of obsolete railway infrastructure in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. It was inaugurated in 1993. The Promenade plantée is an extensive green belt that follows the old Vincennes railway line. Beginning just east of the Opéra Bastille with the elevated Viaduc des Arts, it follows a 4.7 km (2.9 mi) path eastward that ends at a spiral staircase leading to the boulevard Périphérique beltway. At its west end near the Bastille, the parkway rises 10 m above the surrounding area and forms the Viaduc des Arts, over a line of shops featuring high quality and expensive arts and crafts. The shops are located in the arches of the former elevated railway viaduct, with the parkway being supported atop the viaduct. This portion of the parkway runs parallel to the avenue Daumesnil. The parkway intersects the Jardin de Reuilly near the rue Montgallet and descends to street level.
At that point, it becomes a grassy mall and then follows the old railway direction below street level towards the east, passing through several tunnels. As it reaches the rue du Sahel, it splits, with one portion continuing to the beltway, and the other terminating in the square Charles-Péguy along the former path of a branch line that once linked to the Petite Ceinture railway.
The elevated part of the route, on the viaduct, has some enclosed sections, as when it passes between modern buildings, and some open sections with expansive views. In addition to the Jardin de Reuilly and the square Charles-Péguy, the Promenade Plantée also includes the Jardin de la gare de Reuilly, with its preserved but unused railway station, and the square Hector-Malot. Other abandoned railways have been converted into parks and parkways, but the Promenade Plantée was the first green space constructed on an elevated viaduct.
The western portion of the parkway may be accessed via stairways and elevators leading up to the elevated viaduct. This portion is reserved for pedestrians. The eastern portion of the parkway is accessible via ramps and stairways and is open to both pedestrians and cyclists. The west end can be reached from Bastille by walking 300 m south on Rue de Lyon, then left on Avenue Daumesnil. The staircase entrance is immediately on the left where Avenue Daumesnil enters rue de Lyon.
The Promenade Plantée is built on the former tracks of the Vincennes railway line, which beginning in 1859 linked the Bastille station to Verneuil-l'Étang, passing through Vincennes. It ceased operation on December 14, 1969; part of the line beyond Vincennes was integrated into Line A of the RER, while the Paris-Vincennes section was completely abandoned.

Escape the city - Nature in Paris | La Coulée Verte
Hey!
**Due to copyright this video can only be watched on a computer, very sorry!
If you are visiting Paris, despite the cold, it may be one of the best moments to go check out La Coulée Verte while the leafs are turning red and yellow.
How to get there:
Metro: You can get out at Bastille (Line 1 or 8)
or Ledru-Rollin (Line 8)
in both cases you'll have to walk until the fork with Rue de Lyon and Av. Daumesnil where you'll find the start of the viaduct.
If you want an address you can put in your gps: 5 Avenue Daumesnil 75012 Paris
You can also take the bike, like we did, there are plenty of bike parkings near the walk.
La Coulée verte is truly a wonderful place and I wanted to share it with those who have never heard of it.
I hope you enjoy, thank you for watching!
What places do you visit when you want to escape?

A visit to the Promenade Plantée, a parkway in Paris that is built over the abandoned right-of-way of an old railway that ran from the Bastille to the eastern city limit and beyond. This is one of the greenest and most peaceful strolls you can take in Paris. Areas seen in the video include:

01:42 Viaduc des Arts
04:45 Promenade Plantée

PARIS: 12th Arrondissement - huge food market, elevated Coulee Verte walkway & then to La Défense
A fascinating day of exploring the huge Aligre Market in the 12th Arrondissment area of Paris. I then walk the length of the elevated Coulee Verte walkway (Promenade plantée) followed by a Paris Metro ride to the northwest part of the city to see the futuristic La Defense area.

ABANDONED RAILWAY IN PARIS?! (PROMENADE PLANTÉE, WALKING IN PARIS) | Eileen Aldis
In this vlog we explore the stunning transformation of a formerly abandoned railway in central Paris. Just behind the Bastille metro station, you find the entrance to an elevated parkway called the Promenade Plantée. From 1854 to 1969 this was an operating railway and the track ran fifteen kilometres through Paris. It was left abandoned for many years until, in 1993, it became the hidden treasure it remains today. Parisians were not happy about this development at first as they thought it was a waste of money, however, over time it has become a beloved spot. If you’ve been to the High Line in New York City this has a very similar feeling but was the first of its kind anywhere in the world. It’s located ten metres above street level and there are forty-five beautiful archways from the old viaduct. They’re now filled with shops and restaurants and you have no idea standing on the street that this lush garden exists on top. When we first arrived in Paris I asked on Instagram for suggestions of what I should do and see in Paris. You all sent me some fantastic ideas and Birgit in Iceland said the Promenade Plantée (also known as the Coulée Verte) was worthwhile. I’m so glad she gave me the tip because I’d never heard of it before and have never heard anyone else mention it. It’s a quiet, peaceful place where people are just relaxing, sleeping, reading, playing word puzzles, walking their dogs, or enjoying a picnic. We loved exploring this hidden treasure of 'secret Paris' and hope you enjoyed the vlog!

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself:
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:
And here's the French wishlist:

Promenade Plantée (coulée verte) Paris 12eme
