Department store scene in Colombo, Sri Lanka
This is Delifrance in Odel's department store which is known to UK visitors by their ubiquity in mainline railway stations in Britain. They have a branch in Colombo and at present have a glut of seasonal Chinese visitors. The international situation in Asia is hotting up but that is not apparent from this short video.

CRESCAT Shopping Center | කොළඹ වටේ #06
Cinnamon Grand is its own city because it houses enough of variety to be one. Imagine a hotel that comes with its own shopping mall? Sure, other hotels have small shopping arcades and gift shops, but at the Grand, we do things a little differently. A little grander than the norm.
For the shopaholic, souvenir hunter and more, the Crescat shopping mall within the Cinnamon Grand premises houses two floors of designer stores, exclusive boutiques, bookshops, a pharmacy, food arcade, supermarket, and even a bistro.

Lunchtime on Sunday: Crescat Shopping Arcade, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Sundays are relaxed leisurely days in Sri Lanka even though it is a Buddhist-majority country. The restaurant in the basement is crowded with office workers from Downtown Colombo during the weekdays and during the weekends, Sundays most of all, all manner of local people turn up for lunch. Even so, the seriously poor do not come here. This is a cross-section of Colombo's middle class who are not faring well in the present economic climate. Education is the apparent magic pass out of poverty and want but when push comes to shove many young hopefuls discover (too late) that the jobs and careers they had been aiming for have been given to robots, computers and the Far East. The ruling classes care not for them and concentrate on their own foreign enablers while they plunder the lower orders of the population.
Visiting Crescat (Mall in Sri Lanka) After the Bombing
Some people are wondering what is the current situation here in Sri Lanka after the Easter Sunday tragedy. Most public places are empty or few people are wondering around. We are still scared. :( Let's all pray for a better tomorrow... God bless Sri Lanka.
Christmas carol singing at the Crescat Shopping Arcade, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Choir singing is, to me, always more authentic when the choristers are believing Christians. In Sri Lanka there are sizeable Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim peoples and the number of Christians is small in relation to the whole. They concentrate on 'technical' aspects of the singing so the final product seems 'correct' but this does not address the authenticity problem. Sorry there is a sound problem (no right-ear sound). I might have to get a new camera. This is an Oppo mobile 'phone.

Crescat Dining Room at Crescat, Colombo, Sri Lanka
This eating area is a good window to the working lives of mostly upper clerical and management classes in Colombo.Life is dog-eat-dog in a third world country and certain people in the developed world enjoy the humiliation of their inferiors immensely. When I lived in an executive housing estate in South London 1964-1971 that was the prevailing culture and those people were sewage. Some of their billions of victims are here. This is a Sunday (non-working day) by the way.
