ETTSA: Independent Travel Distribution
European travel services and business travel groups have teamed up to produce an entertaining video showing how far technology has come in giving consumers the power to choose the best and most economical way to travel, and the need to protect those benefits. The video is available at ettsa.eu.
The video premiered at ETTSA's annual EU event, held at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels, gathering key players from the European Commission, Parliament, and stakeholder groups. ETTSA Secretary General Christoph Klenner said, Our new video gives a glimpse of what life was like before independent travel distribution, powered by global distribution systems, revolutionized travel buying. Being here in the Gallery of Evolution reminds me that our industry is still realising its potential as it evolves to meet travellers' needs and demands.
The animated film by the European Technology & Travel Services Association (ETTSA) and the European branch of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), explains what Independent Travel Distribution is, and gives a historical context. It outlines the benefits that the industry brings to business and leisure travellers alike and is designed to give European policymakers, stakeholders and consumers a quick, accurate overview of Independent Travel Distribution and its place in the value chain.
It's vital in today's economy to keep business moving through intermodality -- accessing and integrating different modes of transport, said Paul Tilstone, Managing Director of GBTA Europe and CEO of the Institute of Travel & Meetings. Independent Travel Distribution makes that happen in a fast, transparent and cost effective way. To Christoph's comment about evolution, we are in danger recently of undoing the benefits independent distribution brings at a time when we should be focusing on servicing and caring for our business travellers better. Let's not go back to the dinosaur days before technology transformed travel management.

HONG KONG DRIVING TOUR (ULTRA HD 4K) - ABERDEEN | 香港仔
#drive #4kdrive #driving #4k #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Come and watch our Hong Kong Driving Tour video, where we drive around Aberdeen 香港仔. 4K Driving videos are extremely relaxing to watch. It is a kind of virtual travel, or VR travel. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Aberdeen /æbərˈdiːn/ (About this soundlisten) is an area and town on southwest Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Southern District. While the name Aberdeen could be taken in a broad sense to encompass the areas of Aberdeen (town), Wong Chuk Hang, Ap Lei Chau, Tin Wan, Wah Kwai Estate and Wah Fu Estate, it is more often used to refer to the town only. According to the population census conducted in 2011, the total population of the Aberdeen area is approximately 80,000.
Aberdeen is famous not only to tourists but also to Hong Kong locals for its floating village and floating seafood restaurants located in the Aberdeen Harbour. The Tanka people, who used to live on boats in the Aberdeen Harbour, are generally associated with the fishing industry, and there are still several dozens of them living on boats in the harbour.
This town is named in memory of George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1852-1855) and former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1841-1846). The statesman's title was invested to Aberdeen in Scotland. Hong Kong's Aberdeen is also the name of a harbour and a housing estate:
Aberdeen Harbour is the harbour between Aberdeen (town) and Ap Lei Chau, and is one of the nine harbours in Hong Kong. It is known for its view and is a popular tourist spot. During the fishing moratorium and typhoon weather, the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelters have provided a parking spot for fishing vessels owned by local fishermen.
Aberdeen Centre is a private housing estate located in Aberdeen town, owned by Hutchison Whampoa Limited company. The twenty buildings (blocks), providing 2,788 private apartments, have provided a home for Hong Kong middle-class families for more than thirty years.
Starting from the Ming Dynasty, Hong Kong became the original name for the presently-named Aberdeen village.[1] In the early 19th century, foreigners who landed near Aberdeen Village mistook the name of the village Hong Kong for the whole island. When the foreigners eventually realized their mistake, the name Hong Kong was already commonly used to refer to the entire island.[1]
In Cantonese, Aberdeen is known indigenously as Hong Kong Tsai which means Hong Kong Minor, Son of Hong Kong or Little Hong Kong. It is believed that Aberdeen is where the name of Hong Kong (more accurately transcribed as Heung Kong) originates. Heung Kong Tsuen (香港村, Hong Kong village) on Ap Lei Chau was mentioned on Ming-era maps. Another walled village called Heung Kong Wai in Wong Chuk Hang was also founded during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty. Hong Kong means fragrant harbour, and it was Aberdeen where incense trees (Aquilaria sinensis) from the New Territories used to be brought for export to other cities in China. One alternative Chinese name was Shek Pai Wan[2] (石排灣).
In the Second World War, during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong (1941-1945), the Chinese name of Aberdeen, Hong Kong Tsai, was transformed into Japanese as Moto Hong Kong (元香港), meaning The Origin of Hong Kong.'

-----------------------------
My name is Dennis. In 2009, I opened this channel to record or document this city. I know something is being changed in next decade(s), or I felt the change have began since 2003, no later in 2046. I want to, at least, save some kind of city life in video form instead of taken photo or written in words. I strongly believe that motion picture and sound recording are much better way to preserve and present in the future when young generation want to get know of Hong Kong.
In May of 2018, I wrote the following statement in below:
Hi everyone, thank you for supporting me in fulfilling my childhood dream of making videos.
My parents had always taken a tolerant attitude toward my “capricious”: whether my work is feasible and sustainable... and they never complained about it.
As my father just passed away in May, I am left with no choice but to give up my video making venture.
In Hong Kong where the cost of living is sky high, youtube video making is simply not sustainable by google adsense alone. The revenue produced is way too insufficient for affording a domestic helper, and I must look after my mom all by myself - this is why I must stay very close to her at all times.
Unless my revenue is closed to market rate, or my income can cover a domestic helper, otherwise I can hardly justify any video-related works.
Therefore, from now on everything video will be postponed in terms of year(s).
Thank you, and hope to see you all again in the future.
Reason to choose live streaming:
Because I am the only son of my mother in Hong Kong, and I have to take care of her at home. I almost give up this channel because of high consumption of time and living cost. But I found some extra time.
Live streaming will be held anytime from Monday to Saturday 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m HKT (GMT +8) at anywhere during my spare time. I live in Fanling, north part of New Territory, so it will include my showtime of traveling back and forth. Because of home care to my old mother, there will be no time beyond above time shown, i.e. NO NIGHT-TIME video. Again, from 9:00 to 16:00 is my bonus time when my mother is staying at the senior daycare center, so before and after that, I will NOT able to do filming.
I understand most of you are looking for high quality of video, e.g. 4K or 8K. But hardware is so important at this post-production, that is, the higher quality video, the higher powerful computer to render video. Financial is my biggest issue, I can't afford to buy an expensive hardware right now. Even previous old 2K recorded video, it wasn't easy at all, one hour video = 1.5 hours of rendering, plus uploading time. How about 1 hour 4K ? = 15 hour up......under this old computer. (please check youtube.com/user/hongkongmap/about )
In order to make it easy for me, live streaming not only save my time but also i can interact with audience, right? But I will continue to make recorded video like before, it maybe situation when signal strength is really poor.
I will continue to run this channel as long as the time is fit-on-me or I don't see any kind of video job could fit me.
I hope this is clear to everyone.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions of watching my live streaming:
A) I suggest viewers should use a smaller screen to watch, it is because I am NOT using a high-end equipment to do live streaming, a simple device with simple set-up.
B) For my location, I will attach a link start with See me on Google Maps! ..... Not only given my location, but also include my local time, and battery %. This live map is only effective during on my live streaming, it will be no show after live streaming is end !
C) So the best way to watch live is by computer's screen, size enough to open 2 windows, one for live video, another one for live google map, in parallel side by side. The map will update every minute or less instead of every second I move.
