Cypress Black Bayou Zoo
Our plan was to camp at Nationals Parks. The government shutdown FOILED that idea! So the beautiful, Hillary, and I did what we could to find the next best thing. Little did we know what we were about to walk in on.
Expecting a normal campground in the middle of nowhere Benton, LA, we found ourselves in the middle of a zoo!
Be careful! PeaCOCK crossing!
Cypress Bend RV Park in Iowa, LA
Cypress Bend RV Park is located off the highway, has 30/50 amp, pull through sites, full hookups, laundry, and shares a parking lot with a gas station and McDonalds.
Our campground videos require a lot more work than our other videos as they are edited from multiple smaller videos and photos and music is added. We would like to thank Kevin for his amazing help with editing.

Our Story:
First, let me tell you a little about myself and my husband, Brad. I am a pediatric nurse that is taking a leave from nursing to focus on my photography and our traveling blog. Brad was in car sales and is also taking a break from that world and is focusing on his in home sales job.
Just for background information, we are not your usual couple. We are happy having a small family of two and we moved 2,000 miles away from our families a few years ago for a change of scenery without knowing anyone in Washington. Oh, yeah, and we are going on this crazy RV adventure.
It was a nice, sunny day in Snoqualmie, WA when Brad and I decided that we were going to give this fulltime RV thing a try. This was in June 2014 and we hit the road a year later.
Feel free to share your experiences, make comments, and I hope that we can learn from each other’s RV experiences!
Our videos are short, quick, with no fuss, no music, or anything fancy. We believe in living in the now and enjoy what we are seeing in the moment.
Happy Trails!

The Lorraine Bridge Hayes,Louisiana! Lorraine Park Tour!
Just a little video of the Lorraine Bridge in Hayes, Louisiana! I didn't know there was a park located next to the bridge. I've heard my grandmother talk about it growing up, but have never been there. I know they rebuilt it in the early 2000's. I read that the original bridge was built in the late 1800s as a draw bridge. It was rebuilt in the 1920s, and the draw portion was closed in the 1950s.
The bridge was closed to traffic in the late 90s, and then they rebuilt it in the early 2000s. For some reason today it had a road closed sign on it, but not sure why. Anyhow, the park looks like a nice place to camp, and the prices are reasonable. Hope you enjoy!

Chicot State Park tour
Located about midway between Alexandria and Lafayette, Louisiana off of La 1173, Chicot State Park is a great place to spend some quality family fun. This wildlife reserve consists of 6400 acres of hilly forests and low swampy areas ready to explore and view different species of wildlife. We love to visit this park often due to close distance to our home, but we experience new things every time we visit. Chicot State Park is one of the older state parks in Louisiana and was added to the park system in 1939. This is a very well kept, updated park that continues to exceed our expectations and provides awesome adventures. Join us in exploring Chicot State Park.

Hey Dads,
We have a new RV so we went to Lake D'Arbonne State Park in North Louisiana to do some fishing and camping together as a family. We don't have a boat, so we were fishing from the piers with worms.
In this video I walk around the Lake D'Arbonne State Park campground to show you what our experience was like here at this Louisiana State Park, and I also walk around the campground showing you everything, including the playground for kids, the men's bathroom, the laundry room facility, the campsites, and the fishing pier that is in the campground area.
We had a fun 3 days of camping with kids at Lake Darbonne State Park and if you like camping, fishing, hiking, bird watching, and being outside, then you will love your stay at Lake Darbonne State Park!
Lake D'Arbonne State Park has 5 fishing piers to be able to catch fish off of, but it seems like if you really want to do some fishing you need to get out in a boat and get on the lake. I asked the lady at the general store where the good fishing was, and she said that we should try the Lake D'Arbonne Spillway.
We did not have time to get down to the spillway, but it seems that that is where a lot of the fisherman are catching fish.

SUMMARY
=======
Chemin-A-Haut State Park is a 503-acre (2.04 km2) site located in northern Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. Visitors may access the park from U.S. Highway 425 about 10 miles (16 km) north of Bastrop. Chemin-à-Haut means High Road in French. Much of the park is on a high bluff overlooking winding Bayou Bartholomew. Chemin-A-Haut was one of the earliest additions to the Louisiana State Park system.
The Nature Conservancy in Louisiana has recently acquired the 247-acre (1.00 km2) DeBlieux tract, located in a large bend of Bayou Bartholomew, and will eventually transfer the land to the State of Louisiana. The property will be added to Chemin-A-Haut, thus increasing the park's size to 750 acres (3.0 km2). Bayou Bartholomew contains over 115 fish species, one of the highest counts of any stream in North America.
Visitors to the park may enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking and wildlife observation. There is a 8-mile (13 km) equestrian trail for horseback riders. During the hot summer months, guests may cool off in an on-site swimming pool.
Cypress Creek Preserve Primitive Camping
Primitive camping at Cypress Creek Nature Preserve in Land O' Lakes FL. Cypress Creek Preserve is a beautiful escape near the Tampa Bay area and is a great place to spend the day... or a few days. I chose to do an overnight solo backpacking trip that turned into a car camping experience, but it was wonderful nonetheless.
Reservations are free at . Just keep in mind that this is a primitive campground and not a series of primitive campsites so you may not be alone. Thankfully, I was.
The sign at the fork in the road directing you to the primitive campground is worn beyond recognition so remember to stay right.
I also checked out the equestrian site on the property. It's basically the same as the primitive campground, only bigger.
