Made in China, one of the world's largest oil tankers tested
One of the world’s largest oil tankers, designed and made by the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company, has started test operations in the Bohai Sea off China’s northeastern coast. With a tonnage of 308,000, the tanker's enormous capacity means it can store up to 2.2 million barrels of crude oil. Despite its size, the entire tanker requires a crew of fewer than 30 members, thanks to high levels of automatization on board.

China's May Day holiday shopping boost
China's May Day holiday is one of the biggest shopping seasons of the year. Hong Kong, with its lower prices and proximity, is a favorite destination for many mainland shoppers. But with the launch of Hainan's domestic duty free zone, it's facing new competition.
Sanya in southern China's Hainan Province is seeing a shopping frenzy. But compared with the launch of its trial duty free program, consumers have become more sensible.
I've waited here for almost half an hour. I want to buy some bags and make-up.
I've travelled here because the goods here are cheaper, I will buy some.

Visitors from China and Japan flock to Korea over holiday period
‘연휴맞이 中•日 관광객 몰려’
Tens of thousands of tourists flooded into Korea over the weekend, during two major holidays in Asia.
An estimated 63-thousand Chinese tourists have come into Korea during China's four-day Labor Day holiday that started Saturday and runs through Monday,... and a whopping 83-thousand visitors are expected from Japan during its Golden Week celebration that continues through Friday.
One of the most popular destinations: Jeju Island... where more than 20-thousand foreign visitors arrived on Saturday and Sunday.
Other hotspots include a French village in Gyeonggi-do province and Seoksan Mountain in Incheon -- both filming locations for the popular Korean drama My Love from the Stars.
Major duty-free stores and popular shopping districts like Myeong-dong... are also bustling with visitors from abroad.

China Shopping Fake bags are fake bargains: Why you should avoid Chinese knock-offs
Backpack I use when traveling
There's a discount shopping mall China known to locals as the fake mall. No beating about the bush for the pragmatic Chinese. This is the place to go for (illegal) knock-offs of luxury brands.
Of course, most Chinese wouldn't be seen dead in any of it. They buy only the real thing, even if it costs them six months' salary. Or they fly to Tokyo, Sydney and Taipei to snap up their luxury goods duty free.
The fake mall is for international tourists, who get a kick out of parting with as little as $10 for the current favourite knock-off, a faux Issey Miyake Bao Bao shoulder bag worth, if it were real, about $1200.
It's a desultory place, with three floors of dismal stores and some very unhappy-looking sellers. They sell stuff that wasn't worth copying in the first place, such as Ralph Lauren Polo logo polo shirts and golf caps in Burberry plaid.
Don't start bargaining or even look interested or you'll be chased around the hallways by an angry vendor who will not be rejected. That's the first rule of bargain shopping in China – do not begin the process of bargaining if you don't want the item. They'll keep dropping the price with the understanding that you will finally accept it and do the deal.
If you don't, all hell may break loose. Fear for your life in if you changed my mind and walk away from a vendor, even though given me a ridiculously low price. You have wasted time and they will be furious, possibly rightly so.
I visited the Chinese fake mall with two friends who go there regularly to get new reading glasses made up. The second floor is home to about a dozen spectacle shops, selling everything from $5 sunglasses to more expensive frames that might have walked straight out of the luxury goods factory door. But even a pair of possibly real French designer frames cost a fraction of their boutique value there.
The salespeople copy the prescription lenses in a machine and have them ready a day later with new frames. My friends bought multiple glasses in good frames, for about $50-60 each.

Wanted to fix my broken watch belt somewhere near the Central market. But I was late and it was closed. People suggested me to go to the nearby shopping mall 'Sorya Shopping Center'. I was surprised to see many top class shops and quality places for spending good time inside this 'Sorya Shopping Center'. Watch and Enjoy!!

Malls prepare for major influx of Chinese tourists for Labor Day
Chinese tourists are expected to come pouring in to Korea this week as their annual Labor Day holiday season begins on Thursday.
The nation's retailers have devised their marketing strategies to attract the big spenders to their stores.
Yoo Li-an reports.
China's three-day Labor Day holiday season begins this Thursday,.. and shopping malls in Korea are vamping up their marketing strategies to entice more Chinese tourists in.
Malls are preparing various events including generous giveaways and big discounts for such products as locally-designed clothes and cosmetics popular with Chinese consumers.
One of Korea's biggest retailers, Lotte Mall, will open a Korean Wave pop-up store especially for the holiday,.. that will sell products related to popular Korean dramas.
These efforts should come as no surprise as Chinese tourists have surpassed Japanese tourists both in terms of their numbers and the amount they spend in Korea.
Japanese tourists traditionally top the list when it comes to foreigners visiting Korea but the number contracted recently due to the weak yen and strong Korean won,... while Chinese tourists have been coming here in droves.
More than one million Chinese tourists came to Korea in the first three months of the year, up nearly 45-percent from the same period last year.
Korea's top department store chain, Shinsegae, saw its sales to Chinese consumers spike a whopping one-hundred-and-seven percent in the first quarter of this year,... while the country's biggest duty free shop, Lotte Duty Free , recorded an all-time high of over 850-million U.S. dollars in its sales to Chinese visitors .
That's up 15-percent from a year earlier.

Beijing airport (PEK): International arrival at the Terminal 3
Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) is the main international airport serving Beijing. Beijing Capital added Terminal 3 in 2008 in time for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, the second largest airport terminal in the world. It is also the second busiest airport in the world.
This video shows the arrival process at terminal 3. It also shows the resources than are available in the arrival area.
We also show the three transportation options to reach the city center: (1) the Airport Express which connects to the subway network; (2) buses that can take you to various places in the city (cheapest option); or (3) taxis.
The Airport Express operates from 06h21 to 22h51. The fare is 25RMB, payable in cash. You can also pay using the transportation card (Yikatong). The card can be purchased at the ticket counter of the Airport Express. Here is a map of the Beijing subway:
You can also watch our video on how to use the Beijing subway:
There are many buses that can take you to various places in Beijing. This is the most economical mode of transportation. The list of bus lines as well as their stops, fares and schedules can be found on the official airport website:
Taxis are the simplest way to reach your destination in Beijing. The fare to the center of the city is about 90 to 125RMB. Taxi drivers do not speak English. You need the name of your hotel as well as the address in writing in Chinese. This can usually be found on the hotel website. Taxis in Beijing use the meter. If your driver proposes a fixed rate, get out and take another taxi. In addition to the amount shown on the meter, you may have to pay the toll. Minivans are also available for larger families.

The 'Makers' of Modern China. A new generation of inventors let their imaginations fly.
Anna works in the Russian Department of China Radio International in Beijing. She’s been dreaming of hosting her own show and now she has the chance to make her dream come true. After receiving an editorial assignment to prepare a programme about China’s “makers”, Anna goes on a journey across the country to find out who they are.
Inventors, engineers, visionaries and creators – Chinese “makers” have existed for as long as China itself. They are the people behind the country’s technological progress and their innovations have an impact on the whole world.
Visiting creative centres in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Dalian, Anna learns about amazing inventions by Chinese “makers” that give us a glimpse into what the future of technology may look like. Marrying familiar objects with new know-how to improve and revolutionise work processes, they often take inspiration from their own hobbies and interests. This approach allows them to combine business and pleasure, and to treat their work as an enjoyable pastime.
For the same reasons, the greatest payoff for Chinese “makers” is often not money or fame but the realisation that people use their inventions and benefit from their work.
There are different kinds of Chinese “makers”: some take traditional, often handmade, objects and turn them into more modern, technologically-enhanced, versions of themselves; others use their creative skills in computer-related fields, making new apps and useful software to improve productivity in different specialist areas. Finally, there are children whose parents are engineers and who grew up in a creative atmosphere, making them naturally prone to innovation.
All these “makers” like to organise creative communities to share their ideas and hold workshops. Working as a Chinese “maker” is an ever-evolving process, meaning they must stay open-minded and in touch with the latest technological developments to achieve new heights.
