I flew down to Zürich and took a train to get into the mountains of Graubünden - a lovely, picturesque ride which got me straight into the winter mood. The next morning I got up early for the Early Bird skiing in the Parsenn ski area with my guide Beat, an activity which is part of the free Davos Klosters Inside Program:

Beside skiing I visited the igloo village and had a behind the scenes look of the slope and rescue service before enjoying dinner at Damoro restaurant in town. After a very active day we went to see an ice hockey match of the HC Davos the following day and got to ice skate at the Eistraum ice skating rink of Davos.
The second ski area we got to experience was the cozy Rinerhorn with its slopes running through the forest and its great huts e.g. Spina. Later that day we even went for some night sledding combined with a pasta dinner - a true adrenaline rush!
To experience the magical winter landscape Davos Klosters has to offer off the ski areas our guide André took as to the Sertig valley to go snowshoeing and to see frozen waterfalls...finished by another tasty dinner at the Pöstli Grill to charge up for the next ski area.
The Pischa mountain is the most relaxed of all ski areas and the perfect place to go fat biking. We gave it a try and wanted more adrenaline rush, so we switched to airboarding and raced down the pischa mountain in no time. Highly recommended!
We finished this trip at the Jakobshorn with a visit to the Jatzhütte, a hut popular for its legendary parties…and the highest hot tub in Europe - just the right spot to enjoy a last view of the magestic alps before heading back home.

Tour by state-of-the-art tributary Cable car from Davos Platz to middlestation Jschalp at 1932m ü.M. and further to the Jakobshorn at 2590m ü.M. with a spectaculair panoramic view over the swiss mountains. Davos Klosters is a famous holiday destination, skiresort and well-known from the World Economic Forum (WEF). Up on mount Jakobshorn, part of the Albula Alps, you can see the beautiful ski slopes. Also filmed is the Güggelbahn. A small one-lane pendulum railway, the so-called Güggelbahn, connects the mountain station of the Clavadel ski lift (opened in 1959, the six-seater chairlift since 1998) and the mountain station of the Jakobshornbahn and its restaurant. From the Jakobshorn you can see Davos at the foot of the mountain. From the middlestation Jschalp you also can see hotel Schatzalp and the Schatzalp-bahn.

Diese kleine Einbahn-Pendelbahn verbindet das Bergstation des Skilifts Clavadel (1959 eröffnet, die Sesselbahn mit Sesselsäule seit 1998) und das Bergstation der Jakobshornbahn und das Restaurant. Vom Jakobshorn aus kann man Davos am Fuße des Berges sehen. Von der mittelstation Jschalp aus kann man auch die Schatzalp und die Schatzalp-Bahn sehen.

At an altitude of 1,560 metres, Davos is the highest town in Europe.
During this video, I’ll give you an overview of this Famous Ski destination, along with
my ratings for its offering to Ski-holiday visitors. And If you stay until the end of this
video I’ll give you some tips for making the best of your trip to Davos.
The closest airports to Davos are Zurich, Friedrichshafen and Memmingen, each with
a transfer time of around 2 hours, and Basel, with a transfer time of 3 hours.
If you’re travelling from Zurich or Basel, you also have the option of taking a train.
Davos has a total of 260 km of runs, separated into 5 ski areas,
here are the the 2 that
connected directly to Davos and are the most significant:
- Jakobshorn, which has one of the best snow parks in Switzerland, with 53 km of runs,
- Parsenn, the largest ski area, which has 101km of runs and has the highest point at
2,844 metres above sea level.
From here you can ski 15 km directly to Kublis village at the altitude of 810 meters.
More than 2 km of vertical drops.
The Parsen ski area is well groomed and has great runs for curving.
Davos also has 75 km of cross-country ski, and many winter activities.
The town of Davos also features an excellent ice rink, is home to a great ice hockey
team and if you’re feeling lucky, it’s own Casino.
Davos is famous for its events, especially the World Economic Forum, which attracts
world leaders from across the globe, so you’ll be sure to find all kinds of accommodation
options here, from top-notch hotels to hostels and everything in-between.

In Davos, there’s something everyone, but the separated ski areas and distinct lack of
charm around town damage an otherwise enticing score.
Now that we’ve reached the end of our review, here are those tips we promised you:
First, the town is divided to 2 main areas, each with its own train station:
Davos Platz, which is the real center and connected to Jakobshorn ski area: this area is
recommended for freestylers, beginners and those here for the nightlife.
And Davos Dorf, which connects to Parsenn ski area, and recommended for
intermediates and advanced skiers as well as free-riders.
Our first tip is to try to stay close to the train stations because that way it will be easier to
move between all the ski areas and also, you’ll be close to the lifts for the ski areas I just
mentioned.
Another tip is for free-rides: find the time to visit the Pischa ski area, which is actually all
off-piste mountain.

Parsenn Davos Klosters - Der Klassiker
Das Davoser Urgestein Willi Kindschi zeigt euch sein Lieblings-Skigebiet Parsenn. Der erfahrene Skilehrer schwärmt von der langen Abfahrt vom Weissfluhgipfel nach Klosters. Das weitläufige Wintersportgebiet verbindet die beiden Ferienorte: von Davos aus fährt die Parsennbahn und von Klosters aus die Gotschnabahn ins Gebiet. Parsenn bietet viel Abwechslung für alle, seien es schwächere Skifahrer oder auch Profis. Ausruhen nach einer langen Abfahrt könnt ihr euch auf den verschiedenen Sonnenterrassen. Willi hat es vor allem die Alte Schwendi angetan.

Davos 2016： An afternoon in the Swiss alpine town

Davos has long been a favored destination for skiing，... particularly among the rich and famous.
But in January， it′s especially busy as heads of state， business leaders and politicians gather at the World Economic Forum.
Does that mean all work and no play？
Earlier in the week，... we reported on the town of Davos itself，... today our Kim Min－ji reports on what you can do when you have a little time on your hands.
When the World Economic Forum kicks off in the Swiss alpine town of Davos，... the population triples from 11－thousand to some 30－thousand people.
It′s when hotels get jam－packed，... and it′s almost impossible to find an empty room，... especially an ″affordable″ one.
But even when the annual event is not on，... Davos is still pretty busy as it′s home to one of Europe′s biggest ski resorts.
So I took a few hours to see what the town has to offer.
″When visiting another country， you can′t leave out the food. So I′m here at a restaurant in Davos，... where I′m going to try out two of the most famous local dishes.″
The raclette is the name of the type of cheese and the name of the dish itself.
The cheese is melted and served with potatoes， pickled pearl onions and cornichons.
Another popular meal is fondue.
It′s a dish where two or more cheeses are combined with a bit of white wine and melted to gooey， delicious liquid.
Then you use your long skewers to dip crusty bread into the cheese.
Now that we′re nice and full，... we venture out into the snow. And just about everywhere you look， you find people in snow gear， carrying skis or snowboards
″Usually when you think of skiing，... you probably imagine powdery slopes. But here in Davos，... it′s common to see people skiing on flat terrain.″
It′s ideal for beginners， so you see people of all ages，... but the high plateau and side valleys in Davos make it a popular spot among cross－country skiers.
″This okay for me I do it for pleasure. It′s a special technique for skiing. This is classic running.″
In addition to cross－country skiing， Davos is famous for regular skiing，... and it′s often dubbed a ″winter playground of the rich and famous，...″ with A－list celebrities， business leaders and royals regularly traversing the slopes.
But you can′t leave out what you can see from the mountains.
″Davos is the highest town in Europe， meaning that you are treated to one of the best views on the Swiss Alps.″
From up here， you can see the main venue for the World Economic Forum as well as a nice view of the whole town itself.
″It′s a gorgeous view for sure. What brought me up here？ Well， I was at the forum and it was just really busy and we were stuck inside for quite a bit and I just thought I couldn′t leave Switzerland without seeing the mountain tops here.″
So， instead of rubbing shoulders and talking business the whole time during your stay，... take some time to relax and enjoy everything this alpine town

Skigebied review: Davos Klosters
Davos/Klösters is bekend vanwege het Astma centrum en de wereldtop die elk jaar samenkomt in Davos. Het gebied bestaat uit vijf niet onderling verbonden skigebieden, toch kun je tussen Davos en Klosters leuke en afwisselende tochten maken. Klosters is nog echt dorps in tegenstelling tot Davos. De pistes zijn allemaal redelijk eenvoudig maar wel afwisselend.

Ich bin zunächst nach Zürich geflogen und danach mit dem Zug in die Berge von Graubünden gereist - eine tour mit traumhaften Aussichten die mich so richtig auf den Winterurlaub eingestimmt hat. An meinem ersten Tag war ich einer der ersten auf der Piste, da ich die Early Bird tour im Skigebiet Parsenn gebucht hatte - eine von vielen Touren die man kostenlos buchen kann:
Neben Skifahren habe ich auch das Igludorf besucht und einen Blick hinter die Kulissen des Skigebiets werfen dürfen. Bei meinem Besuch durfte der Besuch eines Eishockey Matchs des HC Davos nicht fehlen, gefolgt von meinen ersten Versuchen im Schlittschuhlaufen im Eistraum.
Das zweite Skigebiet auf meiner Todo-Liste war das gemütliche Rinerhorn - neben urigen Hütten gibt es hier viele Pisten die durch den Wald führen, auch Nachtskifahren und Nachtschlitteln sind hier möglich.
Der Pischa ist der entspannteste von allen Bergen in und um Davos. Der perfekte Ort für Fatbiking und Winterwanderungen. Sehr empfehlenswert!
Den krönenden Abschluss bildete das Jakobshorn mit dem Besuch der Jatzhütte und dem dortigen Whirlpool mit unvergleichlicher Aussicht!
