Ohio Presidents: Surprising Legacies
Often referred to as “The Mother of Presidents,” Ohio sent eight presidents to the White House between 1841 and 1923. Drawing on many interesting aspects of these men, The Ohio Presidents: Surprising Legacies exhibit at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio in Lancaster (on view through Dec. 29, 2019) aims to shed light on the lives of the Ohio Presidents and the objects that tell their stories.
Columbus Neighborhoods: Driving with Darbee - Reese-Peters Home
Architectural historian Jeff Darbee explores the Square 13 Historic District, where notable homes — including William Tecumseh Sherman's house — are located. The Reese-Peters House, built in 1835, is one of the great Greek Revival homes of Ohio. In 1994 the Philip R. Peters Trust donated the property to the Fairfield County Commissioners for a civic purpose involving the arts. The house is now home to the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio.

youre in Lancaster, be sure to stop by the Ohio Glass Museum. You may
not know that the Ohio state legislature has named Lancaster the
Pressed Glass Capital of our state. You can even take a class to blow
glass yourself. Theyre located at 124 W Main St. (740) 687-0101.Just
two blocks away, visit Art Clay on Main and Square 7 Coffee
House. Here, you can paint your own pieces of art, grab a Fantasy
cupcake, or buy artwork made by mentally challenged community members.

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame has many vintage motorcycles and
information about them on display. You can even see the bike used in the

the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Youll find 35 acres
classic and even some new bike parts and memorabilia. If youre looking

The Artwork of Nelly Toll
In 1943, when Nelly Toll was 8 years old, she went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of Poland. For two years, she hid in a small room with her mother – and a set of watercolors. Seventy-five years later, her work is on view at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio in Lancaster (through Dec. 30, 2018).

From 1886 to 1906, she lavished time, attention and considerable cash on the workshop where she unleashed her ambitious architectural fantasies using the most luxurious and innovative materials of her time.

The Mini-documentary about the Plato Clocks - Covers information about Charles Terwilliger the author of the definitive history of The Plato Clock, Eugene L. Fitch and the Plato Clock. Numerous types and styles of Plato Clocks are discussed including: the American Plato Clocks and clocks produced by German and French manufacturers. We will additionally delve into the areas of philosophy and the arts and how they relate to these clocks.
The Plato Clock represents one of the earliest digital displays of time and holds a prominent place in the history of flip clocks, since many later flip clocks from the late 1930s, and in the 50s, but especially in the 1960s and 70s are modeled after patents that lead to the invention of The Plato Clock. The Plato Clock has earned it's title The Grandfather of all flip clocks.
The Ever Ready Plato Clock was invented by Eugene L Fitch of the United States in 1903, produced by Conrad Hubert of the American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company (which would later become the Eveready Battery Company), manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Company and introduced at the 1904 World's Fair.
