The best scenes from a week of diving around Derawan archipelago, with Green Nirvana Resort, from Maratua Island. Whalesharks, manta rays, barracudas, white tips, you name it. A hidden gem for the most extreme diving adventures, waiting to be discovered.

The Derawan is a small group of islands off the coast of Borneo, Indonesia. The island archipelago consists of Maratua, Sangalaki and Kakaban. Sangalaki a cleaning station for manta rays, Maratua known for a huge school of barracuda and Kakaban for sharks of all kinds.

Kepulauan Derawan adalah sebuah kepulauan yang berada di Kabupaten Berau, Kalimantan Timur. Di kepulauan ini terdapat sejumlah objek wisata bahari menawan, salah satunya Taman Bawah Laut yang diminati wisatawan mancanegara terutama para penyelam kelas dunia.
Kepulauan Derawan memiliki tiga kecamatan yaitu, Pulau Derawan, Maratua, dan Biduk Biduk, Berau.
Sedikitnya ada empat pulau yang terkenal di kepulauan tersebut, yakni Pulau Maratua, Derawan, Sangalaki, dan Kakaban

After traveling on planes, taxis, and boats from Singapore. We spent 4 incredible days of diving the Sangalaki Archipelago. Snorkled with pods of Manta Rays, schools of Stingless Jellyfish on Kakaban Island, and saw healthy coral reefs. We were the only divers out in this region and had the ocean all to ourselves. A must visit destination for nature lovers. It's truly wild, and uninhabited islands will make you appreciate nature even more. Seems like the most untouched natural beauty is always an adventure and journey to reach. Well worth the time. You will be rewarded with stunning beauty and a lifetime experience.

PARADISE FOUND: Maratua Island, Indonesia
In the summer of 2015, I travelled to Maratua Island in the Derawan Archipelago in Indonesia, and it is definitely as close to paradise as you can get. This video shows some of what we experienced, including swimming with manta rays, jellyfish lake, living in the jungle, pristine beaches all by ourselves and magical sunsets.
This video is in no way professionally made, just filmed with my Leica 109 as we went along. But I hope it will spread some good vibes.
We stayed at Maratua Guesthouse, and I highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

A short film about our trip to a paradise located in east kalimantan (borneo). Derawan area consist Four beautiful island. Derawan itself is famous for turtles, sangalaki is hosted by hundreds Manta Rays, Kakaban is a unique salt-water lake hosted by thousands non-sting jelly fishes, and the last is Maratua island which is one of the best drift diving sites in Indonesia with underwater theater to see big fishes such as thousands barracudas, grey reef shark, tresher sharks, etc.
