One of entertainment's greatest sons, Frank Sinatra, arrived at his final resting place at a Palm Springs cemetery on Wednesday.
About 400 close family, friends and former colleagues had earlier joined in a touching two hour private funeral service which celebrated his life of show business.
Sinatra died last Thursday of heart failure aged 82.
Hollywood's brightest stars, including many of the old guard, joined four hundred family and friends to bid farewell to the King of show business.
They packed the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Beverly Hills to remember and celebrate the life of Frank Sinatra.
Many were overcome with grief.
They watched in silence as Sinatra's elaborate casket blanketed with gardenias, his favourite flowers, was carried out of the church.
Earlier, during the touching two hour service, Sinatra was remembered as a 'reckless, rogue, sentimental fella,' who graced the world with his talent.
Some of the guests wept as they listened to a recording of Sinatra's 'Put Your Dreams Away'.
Others felt at peace knowing that Sinatra lives on through his music and in their memories.

In a small, private burial service he was laid to rest at a family plot in the Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
He was buried alongside his mother, Natalie Dolly Sinatra, and father, Anthony Martin Sinatra.
Sinatra died of heart failure last Thursday ending a 60-year career on the stage and screen.
He was 82.

With the news helicopters following, the hearse drove to Vans Nuys airport, where the casket was loaded on to a private jet that flew with the immediate family to the desert town of Palm Springs some 110 miles east.

He was buried alongside his mother, Natalie Dolly Sinatra, and father, Anthony Martin Sinatra.

AMVETS Gay Honor - First Memorial Dedicated to LGBTQ U.S. Military Veterans
On April 27, 2019 the first ever official California State memorial was dedicated to the passed lgbtq veterans of the U.S. armed services. The ceremonies were held in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California, which was the site of the original memorial dedicated in 2001 by AMVETS Post 66, American Legion, and The Veterans for Peace Chapter 19. Several political representatives, both gay and non-gay, gave speeches in support of this historic monument. California is proud to be the first to have an official California State Memorial for the LGBTQ U.S. military veterans community.

Brawley (formerly, Braly) is a city in the Imperial Valley and within Imperial County, southern California.
The population was 24,953 at the 2010 census, up from 22,052 in 2000. The town has a significant cattle and feed industry, and hosts the annual Cattle Call Rodeo. Year-round agriculture is an important economic activity in Brawley. Summer daytime temperatures often exceed 105 °F (41 °C).
The Imperial Land Company laid out the town in 1902 and named it Braly in honor of J.H. Braly, who owned the land. After Braly refused to permit the use of his name, the name was changed to Brawley. The first post office at Brawley opened in 1903.
Incorporated in 1908, it was a tent city of only 100 persons involved in railroads and the earliest introduction of agriculture. It had a population of 11,922 in 1950, but population growth was slow from the 1960s to the early 1990s.
Brawley is located in the Colorado Desert and Lower Colorado River Valley regions. The city's elevation, like other Imperial Valley towns, is below sea level.
It is 13 miles (21 km) north of El Centro, about 70 miles west of Yuma, Arizona, 95 miles southeast of Palm Springs and 130 miles east of San Diego.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Brawley has a total area of 7.7 square miles (20 km2). All is land within the city limits, except for the Alamo River and New River that seasonally flow through the city. The New River has been reported as the most polluted river in North America.

FAMOUS GRAVES TOUR - Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosemead, is a California Historic Landmark. It's a tiny American graveyard with a huge history and many surprising, and even shocking, residents.
One of my favorites is William Billy L. Dodson, an early Los Angeles area female impersonator and performer. You don't hear of many drag queen performers from the early 1900s. That's one of the reasons I love visiting cemeteries. You just never know who you're going to discover.
It's also one of the best kept secrets when it comes to final resting places in Southern California.

The drive to Palm Springs
Staying in Palm Springs tonight, then driving to Amboy in the morning to hike into the Amboy Crater, which has been on my bucket list for a long time.

Frank Sinatra is making the journey to his final resting place.
Family members will lay him to rest in a private burial service at a Palm Springs cemetery on Wednesday.
Earlier hundreds of friends attended a private mass for the star at a church in Beverly Hills.
Family, friends and colleagues of the late Frank Sinatra have bid a final farewell.
Big name Hollywood stars, many former colleagues of Sinatra, were among the 400 family and friends who packed the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic church in Hollywood.
The service lasted about two hours.
Mourners filed out of the church, many still overcome with grief as they comforted each other.
They then watched in silence as the elaborate casket carrying the body of Frank Sinatra and blanketed in red and white gardenias was carried out.
Sinatra's widow, Barbara, his three children and other family members are now accompanying his casket to the Palm Springs area.
The interment site at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City is where his mother, Natalie Dolly Sinatra, and father, Anthony Martin Sinatra, are buried.
Sinatra died last Thursday from heart failure.

Palm Springs Air Museum, Palm Springs, California
Welcome to the Palm Springs Air Museum out in
Palm Springs, California.
I have been to Palm Springs, California before but I do Not remember ever visiting this Fantastic Air Museum.
This is actually the 14th Most Important Air Museum in the World according to CNN and I am Very Proud to be a part of it.
Furthermore, the museum contains four (4) hangars of 86,000 square feet of climate controlled interior space and another 40,000 feet of space outside in the back.
There are 59+ flying and static WWII Korean and Vietnamese Aircraft Displays, plus Additional Artifacts, Paintings and other Displays in all four (4) hangars.
There is even a Cafe and a Children's area inside the B-17 hangar
and an education center upstairs with a 9,500 volume library and flight simulators.
You definitely will have plenty of things to do while visiting and plan on being here for at least three (3) hours or more in order to thorough enjoy everything that the museum has to offer.

Ep. 81: Mojave National Preserve | California RV travel camping
In Episode 81 we leave Joshua Tree National Park behind, and instead boondock in the midst of the world's most dense Joshua tree forest with no one else for miles around. On Veteran's Day, and the 100-year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended WWI, it's only fitting that we're camped right next to the Mojave Cross, aka the White Cross Memorial, which was the subject of a contentious battle over the placement of a religious symbol on public land that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Frank Sinatra may have been born in New Jersey but he will be laid to rest on the other side of the United States - in Palm Springs, California.
He spent much of his later years in the hot desert resort town, and most residents seem sad that their Mr. Palm Springs is no longer with them.
Admirers are showing their affection for the man with wreaths, bouquets and vases of flowers placed alongside his star on Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
Hoboken, New Jersey may be his birthplace but for the residents of Palm Springs, California, Frank Sinatra was their favourite son.
The hot desert resort town was a frequent haunt of The Chairman of the Board.
Residents have marked his passing by showering his star on the Palm Springs Walk-of-Stars with bouquets, wreaths and momentos including an empty martini glass and burning candles.
Residents and tourists alike are bracing for the media onslaught that is sure to accompany his burial.
Reports already indicate a fierce battle is underway among family members and Barbara Sinatra over the estimated two hundred (m) million U-S dollar Sinatra estate.
The late entertainer's business empire comprises music publishing, a beer wholesaler, expensive real estate holdings and a mint of recording royalties.
As tourists and residents stop and admire the impromptu sidewalk shrine, people are reflecting on what Sinatra's passing means.

I'm sad I think it's a loss. Just like when we lose any entertainer we get a pleasure out of watching or listening to, the John Wayne's, the Jimmy Stewart's, the Lee Marvin's, the Broderick Crawford's, they're all gone. We haven't really had that type of actor or singers to replace them nowadays.

Frank Sinatra was a punk. He did a lot of things that weren't nice. Including years ago there was a bar here called the Dollhouse, and if they didn't have his record on the jukebox, he'd trash the place. He went nuts. So, he did a lot of things that weren't cool.

Like anyone, Sinatra's death is felt worst by friends and Palm Springs folk who came to know him personally.
At Sorrentino's, an Italian restaurant frequented by Sinatra over the years, they are planning to place a plaque on the bar in front of the stool he usually used.

So I can remember when newlyweds were in here one day and they got all excited when they saw him, he just went and gave them a hundred dollar bill and said, 'Have a nice honeymoon.' I think the myth of him being a scary guy was just a myth.

One large beneficiary of the Sinatra estate could be a cause near to Barbara's heart.
The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center in Rancho Mirage, which aids abused children, is reportedly in line to receive between 70 and 150 (m) million U-S dollars.
And not far away, Old Blue Eyes will be laid to rest in the family plot in this serene and simple cemetery.
The family says Sinatra will be escorted to his grave by a military honour guard because he received both the Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal.
A private vigil for Sinatra will be held on Tuesday night at a church in Beverly Hills.
Sinatra's private funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

During our trip to the Palm Springs / Desert Hot Springs region, we checked-in at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa. Here, we have the General Manager, Krystal Bradley, give us an overview of what people can expect if they chose Miracle Springs Resort as their hotel.
The Nude Bowl at Ruins of the Desert Garden Ranch, Desert Hot Springs, CA
The Nude Bowl is the abandoned swimming pool at the ruins of the Desert Garden Ranch. The Desert Gardens Ranch was a Nudest Resort located outside Desert Hot Springs Calif. Which operated during the 1960's ~ 1970's. In the 1980's and 1990's the site was the scene of numerous underground Generator Parties and is associated with the Lo Desert Sound or Desert Rock Genre. Concurrently the Bowl (Pool) became a destination for Skaters and BMX bicycle groups. By the late 1990's the bowl had become lawless and a problem for Law Enforcement. Wild parties were raging on a regular basis and things ended up getting out of control. After a fight in which four people were stabbed leaving one person near death local law enforcement shut it down and filled it in with dirt hoping to end their problem. As late as 2014 the pool was gone. Then in early 2015 a group of Skaters covertly excavated the bowl and restored it back to being a Skater's destination.
The theme music in this slide show is Whitewater by Kyuss who played at generator parties at the Bowl in the day. Josh Homme, one of the original band members of Kyuss, formed Eagles of Death Metal much later.

Fond farewells were bid to U-S lawmaker, and sixties pop star , Sonny Bono at a funeral service in Palm Springs, California, on Friday.
Bono's current wife and children, along with ex-wife Cher, were joined by representatives from Washington.
The two-term Republican congressman and former mayor of Palm Springs died Monday when he skied into a tree at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe. He was 62.
Cher, Bono's long-time singing and stage partner, eulogized her ex-husband Sonny Bono on Friday as the most unforgettable character.
After the funeral Mass, a cortege of several hundred cars drove to the cemetery at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City for the burial. There Bono was given a 21-gun salute from a military colour guard.
Bono's wife Mary, and their children - daughter Chianna, 6, and son Chesare, 9 - then released several dozen doves into the sky.
Bono was married four times and had two other children - Chastity with Cher, and Christy with his first wife, Donna Rankin.
Mourners included House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a dozen congressmen, former Vice President Dan Quayle, former President Gerald Ford, California Governor Pete Wilson, Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, who represented President Clinton, actor Jack Scalia and singers Tony Orlando and Jerry Vale.

I wanted to tell Mary and Chesare and Chianna how proud I am of what he made himself after we were separated and his accomplishments, and I know that a person just doesn't decided to become a congressman in the middle of their life and then be one, but it is so typically Sonny, to do something so crazy like that.
