River Town Days is Here! March 8-10, 2019
River Town Days is Bainbridge, Ga. is the perfect to experience a family friendly event right on the Flint River
Here in South Georgia most people know Bainbridge as one of the small towns you pass through on the way to Apalachicola, Panama City and the Florida coast. A city of less than 13k people with a county size of around 30k, Bainbridge is quickly becoming a destination point. Ideally located only an hour away from Albany, Thomasville, Tallahassee and Dothan, Bainbridge hosts River Town Days. River Town Days started back in 2003 as a local event and has grown to be a regional draw.
Kids’ Events
Always held on the 2nd weekend of March, River Town Days has a little bit of something for everyone. The event is free for everyone in order to encourage as many visitors as possible, from all walks of life. Kids are well taken care of with a carnival that features “bull rides”, fair-style rides and face painting. Play Bainbridge, the recreational authority, has also joined in and will be hosting a canoe race, bike race and a 5k run. All races will be held on Saturday and awards will be awarded by age division. For more information and to register visit Play Bainbridge.
FLW Fishing Tournament
One of the biggest events being brought to River Town Days is the FLW Fishing Tournament. Fishing League Worldwide will bring more than 150 fishermen to the area. That influx of people will be a huge boon to the local economy by packing hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. The FLW Expo will feature sponsors, vendors, games and giveaways. Fishermen will even be teaching fishing classes to kids.
Music and Alcohol
A festival isn’t complete without music and River Town Days delivers. Featured bands play all types of music from country to 50’s, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Beer will also be sold on site and no outside coolers or alcohol will be allowed into the festival. Make sure to have your ID on you so that you can grab an armband for entry into the Beer Garden. The headliner is a Georgia legend, Colt Ford.
Hot Air Balloon
The highlight of the festival for many will be the tethered Hot Air Balloon ride. This opportunity doesn’t happen much so don’t miss out! The photo opportunity is only $20 and is only on Saturday from 330-630.

Today we will be spending a day in Miami Beach. Miami Beach is a city on several man-made and natural barrier islands that are situated across the Biscayne Bay from Miami city proper. Several bridges connect it to Miami. It’s a municipality in its own right, even though many visitors think that it is part of Miami. The best time to visit is between November and April because the weather is dry and not as hot and humid as during the summer months.
Many start their day in Miami Beach early. So do the pelicans that hunt in the waters of Biscayne Bay for their breakfast just after sunrise.
Standup paddleboarding, enjoying a barefoot walk or a run on the beach, swimming, or yoga are a few of the great ways to start the morning in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach is well-known worldwide for its… you guessed it — beaches! Whether you lounge under an umbrella at one of the boutique hotel beaches around Twentieth Street, or join the locals for some sunshine and people-watching around Third Street, there is something for everyone.
The Fisher Island is just across the water. It is an exclusive neighbourhood only accessible by private boat or a ferry. The ownership changed through its history but until the 1980s it used to be owned by one family. Now there are apartment buildings and mansions there owned by America’s “rich and famous”. The total population of this island as of the 2000 census is just under 500 people. It is possible to visit Fisher Island if you have an invitation from a resident or are going to the Fisher Island Club.
Many of the hotels and vacation rentals in condominiums are a popular place to stay for “snowbirds” that escape the cold of the Northern USA and Canada during the winter months. Summer is the off-season here because of the heat. Many of the rentals are empty during the summer.
Miami is famous for its Art Deco architecture. Many of the Art Deco buildings are located around the South Beach near Ocean Drive. Most of them were erected between mid 1920s and mid 1940s, and the district has the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world. The pastel tone buildings, the palm trees, the neon signs — as soon as you enter this area you will recognize it.
Recently the area became known as the center of the art, hosting the annual art show, Art Basel Miami Beach. The show features contemporary art works from several hundred art galleries from several dozen countries.
Now let us take a stroll along the boardwalk, which runs along the beach for 4 miles (or 6 kilometers). Many enjoy jogging, or rollerblading along it, or you could simply walk to find your favourite beach. Some of the boardwalk is paved, some of it is a raised wooden deck, and all along the boardwalk the views of the beach are breathtaking.
In 2014 the new South Pointe Park Pier was opened at the Southern edge of Miami Beach. It replaced the old structure that has been deemed unsafe for use.
By noon there are many people at the beach swimming, exercising, taking photos. Even though it could get a bit crowded you can sometimes glimpse manatees just off the shore.
Beach volleyball is one of the favourite past-times, and there are nets in South Beach around the Ocean Drive that are free for use.

RVs, Boats, AND Snowbirds - OH MY!
We love our snowbirds that come down for the winter. They know how to have fun. They bring their RVs and boats with them or already have them on their property waiting for them :)
In today's video we take a trip around Southwest Florida, closer to home, and discover another small park. We love finding new destinations in our very own backyard, just by going for a ride.
Our town of North Port is growing by leaps and bounds. We have many new retail stores and restaraunts....both family owned and corporate. We are still missing hotels off the higway, so travelers and visitors of those who live here have somewhere to stay. Most houses here are only one level and there are no basements...so space is very limited for guests to sleep over. It is unfortunate for now, visitors need to stay in the next towns over. I do think hotels and motels will be built in the next two years the way things are going.
North Port has everything from Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, Publix grocery story, Aldis, Hobby Lobby, Panera, Starbucks, TJ Maxx, Gamestop and so many other stors. Chipotle wlll be opening very soon. Seems like everyon talks highly of this place, so maybe we'll give it a try. :)
We were talking today and thinking how many RVers like to stay in one place for a couple or few months at a time. Sometimes it can be expensive unless you boondock. If you like to stay in Florida for the winter but don't like to pay the higher costs during the winter season, you may consider buying a small lot. Most lots in our town, for example, are about 1/4 of an acre and are priced somewhere around $5000. There are MANY empty lots so I would imagine a deal can be made. No, I'm not selling any land lol :) Much of the land was divied when the boom was going on in 2005-2007 and there were plans to build LOTS of houses. Then the crash came in 2008 and all building stopped. It has started again and prices are going back up, BUT, they are still cheaper than they were during the boom. Back in 2005 a quarter acre lot was going for $45,000-$60,000. At the lowest, when the crash hit, land went down to about $2500 a 1/4 acre. Last year, they were about $4-5,000 I haven't looked lately but if you find something under $10,000 it is still a great deal. You would have to check with the city to find out if there are any rules about owning the land just to put the RV or if you need to have water or electric installed. I really don't know. North Port is between 2 main highways and not far from the beach. We think it is an EXCELLENT location. We just wanted to share this with our viewers. When we see something we like we will tell you...OR if we se somthing we DON'T like...we'll tell you that as well.
