Deukmejian Wilderness Park, Glendale
I spent this past Tuesday afternoon on a metro journey of sorts; with time to kill you'd be hard pressed to find an activity with more potential excitement. All told, I arrived at the road that would eventually lead to the park in about an hour and 25 minutes, which was actually a pretty decent time considering the distance covered. The most difficult task of the day was ascending New York Avenue, right off of Foothill Boulevard. This roughly .75 mile road took about 35-40 minutes to walk from beginning to end, due to the steep grade. The park was very scenic and many of the shots actually came from veering off the trail into the small water runoff area. In conclusion, this day represented another successful filming mission and metro adventure.

BEST: Wilderness Park Downey CaliforniaMy Movie #3_720HD 1.avi
This is an edited version of the originally uploaded Wilderness Park In Downey California. The main difference is the clips transition, and I think you will enjoy it more this way. Why did I make this movie? Because I believe that our time calls for refocusing on our psyche, on what makes all natural beings live in harmony. In other words I just took the time away from the modern word to look to nature, and rediscover its beauty, empathy, resilience, acceptance, and above all power to restore. It is the intent of the well known Bridge Over Troubled Waters, to restore, to build the bridge between the internal, overwhelming at times noise, and the external, harmony in nature.
Happy New Year, And I'll see you on the trail!

iClip Courthouse Groundbreaking
City and State Officials gathered on the corner of Magnolia and Third Street for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new downtown courthouse. The state-of-the-art building will be named in honor of former California Governor and Long Beach resident George Deukmejian.
The Courthouse will replace the current one which was built in 1959 and now suffers from overcrowding and limited accessibility. The two-city block Deukmejian Courthouse will not only provide 31 spacious courtrooms with natural light, but will also include rental space for county justice partners, commercial tenants and compatible retailers. Providing this mixed use is essential as the 531,000 square-foot complex is the first of its kind in the United States to be financed with an innovative public and private partnership.
Construction will begin this year with completion targeted for late 2013. Not only will this project provide an economic boost for our city but it will also create an icon for our downtown.

Former California Governor Deukmejian on the State Budget
George Deukmejian was elected governor of California in 1982 and took over during a major state budget crisis. By the time he ran for re-election in 1986, he could claim having taken the state from IOU to A-OK. Unfortunately, as the Cold War ended and the U.S. economy went into recession in the early 1990s, the state suffered another major budget crisis which was left to the next governor - Pete Wilson - to deal with. In these comments made in 2005, Deukmejian reflects on the problems of the state budget.
