Hiking Devil’s Hopyard State Park - East Haddam, CT
Our adventure begins at Chapman Falls in the north end of the park. We cross the covered bridge and follow the orange trail south along the Eightmile River.
At 2:29 we climb through an area damaged by a 2012 brush fire. Over 50 acres of the park burned, fueled by an excess of dead and dying hemlock trees. Six years later this area is still recovering with many charred trees still visible.
At the top, we reach the southern scenic viewpoint and check out the scenery before turning back.
Before concluding the hike, we climb Devil’s Oven at 5:04 and explore the small caves and rock faces on the ascent. The top offers more scenic views on the exposed rock ledges.

DEVILS HOPYARD HIKE / East Haddam CT
This is a 860 acre forest that I used to hike with family years ago. It has many views of the stream from Chapman Falls (at beginning of video), and a overlook of the land.
While the video is quick and with cheerful hiking music, there are legends of Satan spooking the Puritan settlers of the land. It was believed that the demon sat on top of the Chapman Falls like a throne and played a violin? People have reported seeing shadows, orbs, and even EVP's while hiking.
The Hopyard part is because there was brewery at one time in the area.
I found this out after the hike and editing the video, so I will have to go back sometime and see if I can find something spooky.
This is an edit of the same one I released this past weekend. I needed to censor my language and some graffiti on the rocks.

Hiking Gillette Castle State Park - East Haddam, CT
Our hike begins at the castle to enjoy the scenic view overlooking the Connecticut River and the towns of Deep River and Chester. After, we descend to riverbank and enjoy the small beach areas near the ferry landing.
Upon returning to the top, we conclude the day by hiking the Railroad Trail and some unglazed trails that return to the riverbank.
Gillette Castle was constructed atop the Seven Sisters hill chain in East Haddam by William Gillette in 1919. In 1943, the property was purchased by the State of Connecticut and has since become a beautiful state park that highlights the scenic Connecticut River Valley.

GILLETTE CASTLE EXPLORE
Before taking a hike in Gillette State Park trails, I checked out William Gillette's home. Of course Mr. Gillette is known as the original Sherlock Holmes of film. This castle was designed all by him, with some original ideas I would love to have.

Gillette Castle State Park || Connecticut
Gillette Castle State Park was an awesome place to explore inside and also the surrounding area! There are plenty of hiking trails and tons of historic information to absorb while visiting the area.
Check out more information about Gillette Castle State Park on our website:
On this adventure we headed east in Connecticut towards the Connecticut River. At the time we knew very little about the location we were heading to, but when all the images of the park centered around a castle, we knew we wouldn't be disappointed. Gillette Caste State Park is a very unique park that revolves around an American actor-manager, playwright, and stage-manager's past. If you head there in present time however, the castle feels very much alive.
