This is a great hike, especially on a hot day. Plan on getting at least your feet wet on this hike.
Spearfish Canyon. South Dakota Black Hills. Devils Bathtub Trail. Roughlock Falls.
More beautiful places in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It would be easy to spend months here and still not explore all of the gems that this part of the country has to offer.
A drive up or down Spearfish canyon will take you through a lush green forest filled with flowing water and water falls, ferns, and flowers, and towering limestone cliffs. Whether you stay on the road or get out of your car and follow a trail you will not be disappointed.
We take a hike up Devils Bathtub trail which is dog friendly! Be sure to bring your water shoes and if you want to get wet your bathing suit as there is a small natural water slide at the trails end. And when you've reached the end of the road you will find an adorable historical town in either Lead or Spearfish.

Weekend Wanderings: Devil's Bathtub, South Dakota
Located in Spearfish Canyon in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, this short day hike is only two miles round-trip, but allows you to access a beautiful natural wading pool/river. Great for a family hike, or a short hike on a hot day, but super popular, too!
