Amokura... Dun Laoghaire to Dingle
Amokura is a classic yawl, designed by Fred Shepherd and built by Moody's on the Hamble in 1939.
I'm enormously fortunate to have been asked to help sail Amokura in an off-shore racing campaign which will culminate with our entry in the 2019 edition of the Fastnet race.
Before we can do this we are trying to gain enough experience in other races and hoping to figure out the best way to race a boat of this size and complexity with only two crew.
In this episode I join Paul, Amokura's owner and skipper on a trip to Ireland where we race from Dun Laoghaire in Dublin to Dingle on the Irish west coast.
By the way... Dun Laoghaire is pronounced Dun Leery. Being dyslexic in Irish must be a nightmare.
