???????? Route 1256: Doi Phukha Road, Nan
This spectacular access road to Doi PhuKha National Park is part of famed Doi Phukha Loop, along with R1081.
It begins its journey eastwards and upwards from Pua to Bo Kluea across sharp ridge lines towards Doi Dong Ya Wai at height of 1,939m providing one of the most jaw-droppingly scenic rides in Thailand. Truly one memorable ride through thick forest and across switchbacks, tight corners, scenic viewpoints, sweeping curves and standing rows of steep mountains, including 1980m high Doi Phukha itself.
Way to Doi Phu Kha National Park
Doi Phu Kha National Park covers a part of 8 districts in the Luang Prabang Range, Nan Province, Northern Thailand and has rich natural resources. It is Northern Thailand's largest National park and rivers such as Nan River and Pua River, have their sources within the area of the range under the protection of the park limits. Khun Nan National Park is located north of the park area.
1,980 m high Doi Phu Kha, located within the parks perimeter, gives its name to the park. There are many caves in the park area. The park is named after Chompoo Phu Kha, a tree with attractive pink flower bunches, which together with Caryota gigas and Acer wilsonii, are rare species of plant which in Thailand can be found only in this park. There are natural rock formations on 1,837 m high Doi Phu Wae peak. The ascent takes 3 days and 2 nights. The scenery of the sea of mist and the mountain range is the reward for the trekkers who can reach Phu Wae peak.
The park was established on June 17, 1999. Doi Phu Kha National Park is part of the Luang Prabang montane rain forests ecoregion.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej has blamed the destruction of Thailand's forested areas on the greed of some state officials. This is evident in large zones of Doi Phu Kha National Park that were formerly covered with virgin forest and that have been deforested even while having national park status.

1. By car : From Nan province, take Highway 1080 to Pua distance of 60 km.

2. By bus : From bangkok to Pue district take a bus from Mo Chit station .
It take about 11 hours. From Pue district to Doi Phu kha National Park .
That has bus line Pue - Bo Kea at 7.30a.m. , 9.30 a.m. , and 14.00 p.m.

Nordöstlich von Nan, kommt man in eine schöne Berglandschaft. Man sollte für den Park und die Rundtour, einen Tag einplanen. Es lohnt sich, eine Berg+Talfahrt mit tollem
Panorama ( auch für Biker ) Von Nan auf Str.Nr. 1080 bis Tha Wang Pha, dann auf die1170 bis Pa Tong. Von hier auf die 1081, und ab in den Park. Die Sraße ist ein Rundkurs durch die Berge. Auf der Rückfahrt kann man auch über Santisuk ( 1257+1169 ) nach Nan fahren. Es geht auf eine kurvenreiche Strecke, durch kleine Dörfer. Tolles Gefühl, es macht richtig Laune!!!

Pua, Thailand to Bo Kluea, Thailand Run
Highway 1256 through the mountains from Pua to Bo Kluea, then Highway 1081 south from Bo Kluea. Bo Kluea is a town, and has a well from which they obtain salt water, which is then boiled down and sold as either table salt or salt scrub, etc. Bo means well, while Kluea means salt. That's just what we went to see, and yes - we bought some table salt. :) Note: Nothing but wind noise captured by the camera, so I substituted music. I do not own the rights to the music, and will take the video down if necessary.

And today we are headed to Nam Nao National Park. Nam Nao National Park was designated as national park in 1972, Nam Nao covers 966 km² in the mountainous forests of Phetchabun and Chaiyapum provinces in Northeast Thailand. It is the best national park in the area and one of best in the country with good wildlife viewing, bird-watching and hiking possibilities. There are three flat and specious camping zones, three restaurants with good selection of foods open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., two shops and toilet/shower facilities. Tents with necessary camping gears like mats, sleeping bags/blankets, pillows are available for rent from the visitor center.
Average elevation of 800 meters makes this park comfortably cool all year-round. Annual average temperature is about 25 °C, frost may occur November to January with night temperatures occasionally dropping to as low as 0 °C. Visitors are advised to have some warmer clothing during the cold season.
